One,
Inside B03 on the eighth floor of the Jihong Mansion, Gao Shi Li had been waiting here since a long time ago. He believed that Zhang Meiyao would definitely come to the appointment. He had a hundred and twenty-thousand percent certainty, but he wanted the woman he wanted, seems to have never missed, and with him in bed with the women are not obedient.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long for a fashionably dressed and revealingly dressed wonderful girl to arrive at room B03. She was no one else, but the woman Gao Shi Li was waiting for.
Zhang Meiyao was indeed a first-class beauty, she immediately threw away her high heels when she entered the room, and her originally extremely short skirt was taken off by her lightly, leaving the glass pantyhose wrapped around her charming lower body.
“Hey! How long have you been here?” She had sat down next to him.
“It’s okay! You’re here, aren’t you?”
Gao Shi Li put her in his arms, Zhang Meiyao deliberately struggled for a moment, and then pounced on her and kissed her. Her body spread out a tantalizing perfume flavor, not very strong but just right.
The kiss was deep, and the two met tongues as if they couldn’t give up, exploring and mingling inside each other’s mouths. It wasn’t long before Gosseyn pushed her away.
“Meiyao, it’s better to go to the inner bed, it’s more comfortable.”
Meiyao threw winks, pretended to be pampered and pouted, “I want you to hug me!”
Without hesitation, Gosling immediately picked her up and placed her on the bed in the inner room. As he undressed himself, he commanded. “Meiyao! I want what’s inside your pantyhose.”
“Dead look!” Meiyao laughed lewdly, finally stripping herself naked as well, pouting as she lay on the bed waiting for him.
He, on the other hand, was ho-hum and immediately went on the offensive. He held Zhang Meiyao’s breasts and kissed her nipples. Her breasts were so voluptuous that he couldn’t even hold them in his hands, so he had to pinch and squeeze them. The nipple was taken in his mouth and sucked.
“Ahhhh! Oi…phew…oh…oh…”
Zhang Meiyao’s whole body was like crawling with ants, it was strangely itchy, and her delicate body trembled for a while.
“Oh…oh…”
His hand reached down to the other woman’s pussy itself, a grassy half-moon hill that held a gently singing stream. He tried to insert his middle finger inside her cunt. “Oh! What a tight pussy.” Then the index finger went in too.
“Ah…ah…kiss…uh…it tickles…uh…”
His thumb happened to be pressed against that nucleus above that vaginal opening, and in a bout of rubbing, Zhang Meiyao went crazy.
“Ouch…ouch…ouch…yeah…yeah…”
Exhaling her breath, Zhang Meiyao was intoxicated and lustful, her lust water flooded up. His fingers were all wet, he was really a saint of flirting. He saw that her eyes were half closed, her vermilion lips were slightly open, and her mouth was crying like a warbler, he knew that she was in the throes of spring, so he didn’t stop for a moment.
“Ah…Shri, I…want to change…positions…” that’s when Gosseyn stopped.
So Zhang Meiyao changed to take the initiative, she asked Gao Shi Li to stand on the ground, and then she herself squatted in front of his big prick. Gao Shi Li of course knew what she was going to do, so she kept quiet and waited for her to come. Sure enough, Zhang Meiyao stretched out her three-inch long tongue and licked his genitals.
She licked her testicles first and they immediately swelled with sensitivity. He looked down and saw her eating greedily, his heart stirred up countless ripples. At this time, Gao Shi Li’s cock was already a pillar in the sky, like an ancient cannon from the 18th century, thick and long. Zhang Meiyao’s hand gripped his rod, so she lashed it up and down.
“Ah…” he couldn’t help but yelp.
Zhang Meiyao knew that it was hard to resist his excitement, so she took his rod in her mouth, abandoning her earlier action of eating his testicles. The cock was incredibly comfortable in her mouth, and soon the glans was oozing out slippery semen, Zhang Meiyao wasn’t jealous of the meeting and ate it all into her mouth.
“Ah…” he screamed once more.
She waited until she was satisfied with her set before asking him to play with her pussy.
“Okay! Baby, just get on the edge of the bed and I’ll fuck you.”
Zhang Meiyao complied and got down, Gao Shi Li immediately made a counter attack. Holding his spear in his hand, he aimed it at Meiyao’s pussy and thrust it.
“Ah… ah…” Meiyao’s fat ass shook twice, that big meat stick had already gone in, and right to the center of the flower.
Gosley also started thrusting without mercy, as if he had been given a chance.
“Mmm…mmm…ah…good…person…uh…give…me… “
“Harder…with…force…oh…beautiful…I’m so…beautiful…mmm… “
“Don’t…stop…please…please…ah…mmm…”
Meiyao was drenched in fragrant sweat, like feathering herself to heaven, comfortable to the extreme. And the more Gao Shi Li fucked, the more comfortable, already like a fierce lion, a moment to grab her big tits, a moment to pull her long hair, and sometimes also hit her beautiful buttocks. This is the pursuit of stabbing sensitive, increase sexual desire to help action.
“Ahhhh…Mami…mmmm…my…good husband…husband…yes…harder… “
She was being fucked to death and gasping for breath. The lewd water was flowing more and more, flooding the fragrant grass under the hill like overflowing lewd water at high tide. With a twitch, Zhang Meiyao had another orgasm, screaming wildly. He was having fun, and he was rushing and shouting like he was in no man’s land.
“Good man…are you comfortable?”
“Uh-huh!” Coatsley replied simply. Continue to operate.
“When are you…even…out…out…”
“Oh…I…want…I want…out…ah…”
Without waiting for Gao Shi Li to finish, he himself could not control it anymore, his body rushed, and that hot, hot semen shot into the depths of Zhang Meiyao’s pussy center, a lot…a lot.
This time, both were so tired from playing that they soon drifted off to sleep, cuddling with each other…
When Zhang Yao opened her eyes, it was already four or five bells’ time, she had wanted to shake Gao Shi Li beside her in passing, but she realized that he was no longer there.
“Maybe there’s another mission!” She muttered…
Two,
GaoShiLi again in recall and he has had intercourse with those women, say, he has intercourse with women, no more than a thousand also always have hundreds of more. These flirtatious metallurgical, sexy hot women, all with him had a hand. There are countless more. The previous mentioned is just the first one that comes to mind in Gao Shi Li’s mind. Every time before he was hired, or after he completed his mission, he had enjoyed the cherry lips, breasts and thighs that even he himself could not remember.
One might ask: How can a man be a murderous hunter and an unbeatable flirt at the same time? However, Goslee now has the feeling that he has run out of gas and is in trouble, not because someone is pointing a gun at him, but because of what the doctor said to him.
On Dr. Qiu’s desk lay a registration card, charts and a few sheets of paper with words on the charts that Gosley couldn’t read.
Dr. Qiu asked Gao Shi Li to sit down and said, “Mr. Gao, there’s something I need to talk to you about.”
Dr. Qiu picked up the registration card to examine it for a moment, then said to Gao Shi Li, “Mr. Gao, you want to know your real health condition, don’t you?”
“Of course, that’s exactly why I came to see you.”
“You did the right thing, Mr. Gao. I’ll be honest with you, I’ve suspected for a long time that you have an intermittent heart condition, and the results of the tests now confirm my diagnosis.”
Dr. Jou picked up the registration card again, looked at it, pointed and said, “You are thirty-five years old and weigh one hundred and sixty-five pounds. For someone who is six feet long, this is a very standard weight, and this point is favorable to your health. It is fortunate that I have diagnosed your condition in time this time, and in the future, with a little care for your health and observance of one or two rules, you will be able to enjoy a normal, pleasant and long life.”
Goslee said, a little uncomfortably, “So could it be that my breathing difficulties, and all those pains, etc., are all fake?”
Dr. Qiu said, “That’s not true. I’ll explain it to you in detail, and my intention is just to allay your fears, not just to assume that you’ll be crippled.”
Dr. Qiu continued to smile and asked, “Mr. Gao, what line of work are you in? It doesn’t seem to be written above the registration card.”
“I’m an oil company service.”
“Sitting in an office?”
“Well, but I do have to travel sometimes.”
“Are your emotions affected by your work? I mean, does your work make you labor too much, thinking about work even when you should be resting?”
“Sometimes it does.”
“This is to be corrected at once. You must never allow yourself to be overstimulated and overstimulated mentally, except by the normal necessities of your profession, otherwise there is nothing I can do to restore you to health.”
Dr. Qiu said sincerely, “In a word, Mr. Gao, you have to change your lifestyle. You must live a quiet life, or your heart is going to suffer more damage, which is nothing less than self-destruction.”
Half an hour later, Goliath descended the stairs alone in an automatic elevator. Goliath often prided himself on his ability to make bold decisions, and by the time he left the elevator and stepped out onto the parkway, it was a done deal.
Of course, Gao Li Si did not want to die in one or two years, so he had to stop working, which was the only way to go. However, when he turned into Third Street, Gaolis frowned; it was better not to work in this business, but what about the money?
Goliath carefully walked up those stairs and into his apartment. Picking up the phone, he dialed a number.
“Good morning, this is Sun City Design.” A crisp woman’s voice came from the phone receiver.
“Is the chairman in?”
“I’m sorry, Boss Ma isn’t here today. Can I ask someone else to talk to you?”
“No, please tell me where I can find Boss Ma?”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know…”
“Thanks.” Goliath hung up the phone.
After that, he dialed another number, and after speaking to the butler, he connected to the telephone extension by Ma Guihua’s indoor swimming pool, and within the microphone, he could still hear the sound of the pool splashing up and the sound of women giggling.
After Ma Guihua was listening to the call, Gao Li Shi said, “Boss Ma, this is Gao Li Shi. About that business we talked about last week, I’ve changed my mind now. I’m willing to take care of things for you.”
“I thought you were really only willing to do two things in a year! Didn’t you say that things weren’t very safe?” Ma Guihua’s voice held a hint of contempt.
“I thought I said I changed my mind. Do you still want me to do it for you or not?”
“Of course, I want you to do this for me. So, when do we meet?”
“Feel free to meet up anytime the price is agreed upon, I’ll have to double my fee this time.”
“It’s going to be two hundred thousand dollars? Why the sudden price hike?”
“I’ll explain it to you when we meet. Anyway, it’s two hundred thousand dollars or nothing. I need this money, Boss Ma. If you don’t agree, just ask for a higher price.”
Ma Guihua was silent for a while, and the voice of a woman summoning someone to fetch a drink came over the microphone.
Then Ma Guihua grunted and said, “Damn, I promise, you know very well that I never look for second-rate goods.”
“Excellent, I’ll be at your service.”
“That’s it. This thing should be done quickly. I’ll connect with you later.”
Goliath disconnected the phone, went into his bedroom, opened a suitcase, and then sat on the edge of his bed, thinking, Will I be able to do it this time? Can my heart stand it? Finally he made up his mind, what the hell, what else can I think of, I have to find some money first. So he quietly took out the pair of revolvers again and greased them.
Three,
Gauloises left Lagardia by plane on Thursday morning, and because of the fog, his plane arrived in Chicago two bells later than scheduled. His watch was pointing at eleven o’clock, and he still had three hours to move around.
Gauloises walked outside, called a car and drove to the city. Forty-five minutes later, the driver dropped him off at the Beauty Bar on XX Street. Coats went into the bar, put his coat and hat back on, and found the man he was looking for. The man was sitting on a round stool at the bar. Gao Li Si went to the round stool next to him and sat down, greeting him with, “How are you, Long Fei Yun?”
Long Feiyun was in his mid-thirties, with a head of black hair, well-dressed, and a carnation on his lapel.
After the two shook hands, Long Feiyun said, “Buddy, we haven’t seen each other in years.”
Goliath ordered a whiskey.
Long Feiyun said, “When Ma Guihua told me on the phone that he had hired you, I really felt happy. For him to hire an expert like you, I think this can be done properly.”
Ignoring the doctor’s advice, Goliath downed his whiskey in one gulp, then said, “This is not the place to talk, let’s find a quiet place! I have a two o’clock afternoon flight to catch later.”
Long Feiyun paid for the drinks and instructed the waiter to take them to a small private booth, after ordering the food, the waiter walked out.
Long Feiyun said, “It’s unfortunate that Boss Ma told me you had a heart attack. I heard that you’re going to wash your hands after this job, right?”
“I intend to.”
“Good, then good luck with your horse.”
The waiter brought up the dishes and at the same time brought a large envelope from the checkroom for Long Feiyun. After that, he walked out and closed the door behind him.
Long Feiyun patted the envelope and said, “The stuff is all in here, do you want me to tell you now?”
“The sooner the better.”
“That’s what a professional killer sounds like.”
Long Feiyun smiled and said, “Did you see the news in the newspaper about the Senate setting up a committee to investigate the horn-eating tigers?”
“Of course I’ve seen it.”
“Do you know this man, Woo Davy?”
“Is that what you want me to do with Witch Davy?”
“No, it’s one of his relatives, and if we take care of Wodawi, how will he understand that we’re disciplining him? It’s his family, his only relative, that we’re going after.”
Long Feiyun pointed to the envelope and said to Gao Li Shi, “What’s contained here is all the information about your subject. There’s also a third of the deposit, all that we were able to gather is in there. In addition, are some suggestions from my men on how to proceed.”
Goliath said, “I have my own plan of action.”
“Of course, I know you have your ways, but this information can be used for your reference and save you a lot of time.”
Long Feiyun took out a picture from the envelope and said, “Take a look at it first.”
It was a large eight-inch photograph, a full-length portrait of a female student. She appeared to be about nineteen or twenty years of age, bright and voluptuous, dressed in black, the look of a college coed.
Long Feiyun said, “This little ninny is good, isn’t she? I’m really willing to clean her up a bit myself!”
Goliath frowned heavily and asked, “Is she the one?”
“Yes, that’s exactly who she is, the only daughter Witch Davy has.”
“What’s her name?”
“Mi-jin.”
Gao Li Si said; “I’ve never done it before with such a young girl!”
Long Feiyun’s sharp eyes immediately flashed as he pursued, “Why what do you mean by this?”
“Nothing, I’m just saying she’s really young, Gion is still underage.”
“Even if she wasn’t a child, what would have happened? Wouldn’t she still die like everyone else?”
“That’s not the problem.” Goliath said as he studied the picture.
“I don’t care what the problem is there, it’s always, Boss Ma told me that you’re going to have to take our two hundred thousand dollars before you’ll clean up this little…”
Goliath stopped him immediately, “If you try to hire another asshole instead, you’ll just stump things up, so just do what you want.”
Long Feiyun mocked back unconvincingly, “In that case, you don’t even care about two million dollars?”
Gorgon said, “Forget it, what the hell are we arguing about. I’m just saying that I’ve never tidied up such a young girl, is that wrong?”
“I just don’t understand why you’re saying that, did this little whore, with a picture, charm you?”
Gao Li Si’s heart shook, but his mouth said, “Damn it, don’t care what I say, I’ll do it when I say I’ll do it. You guys want me to clean up this girl, I’ll just go clean her up, stop fucking nagging.”
Long Yanyun breathed a sigh of relief and said, “That’s the tone of a professional killer.”
He also told Gao Li Si in his parting, “When you arrive at the city of Melrose, you’d better stay at the Rainbow Hotel. My men may have new news for me this afternoon, and I will inform you again then.”
When Gao Li Si rode the streetcar to the airport, thinking about the quarrel with Long Fei Yun just now, his heart couldn’t help but be secretly alert; but not a moment later, he capriciously thought: what the hell about a heart attack or not, the reputation of a professional assassin, he couldn’t be less than to keep it. Could it be that a little bit of small illness, make his heart even become soft?
Goliath’s plane flew only an hour to Peola. He rented an automobile in the name of Ding Dapin and drove to the city of Murrs in a heavy storm. It was a quarter past three in the afternoon.
The city of Melrose was forty-five miles from Peora, and Gorges estimated that it would take more than an hour to reach it in the storm, without driving fast. He relaxed and drove without haste, passing corn fields and farms along the way.
By 4:15, Goliath drove up to a residential housing construction site, which he learned from a billboard was only three miles from the city of Moores. By then the rain had subsided to a drizzle. After going on for about a mile, he came to a sloping road near the city center and noticed an open car parked on the side of the road, about a hundred yards across from a small hotel. A man in a blue leather jacket was bending over the left rear tire of the car.
Goliath looked up, but there was no gas station in the neighborhood. As Goliath drove past the broken down car, he lazily glanced over his shoulder at the unlucky guy. If he didn’t, he was shocked and instinctively put his right foot on the brake to stop the car.
It turned out that the owner of this car with a flat tire was no other than the pretty girl, Woo Mi-Jin, whom she had just seen in a photo. Gao Li Si was skeptical: was this the right thing for him to do? But, as it turned out, he pulled over and got out of the car, walking towards Mei-Jin in the misty rain.
Four,
Gao Li Si was calculating in his mind, whether to clean her up now?
He touched the rim of his hat with his hand in a sort of polite greeting, then smiled at Mijin and said, “What’s the trouble? Miss!”
A hopeless smile rose on Mei-Jin’s face, “One wheel has a flat tire and another is stuck in the mud.”
“Let me help you put on a new tire.” After saying that, Gao Li Si went around to the other side of the car and took a look at the wheel that was stuck in the mud, then said to Mei Zhen, “It doesn’t seem to be too serious, after the tire is changed, you start the engine in the front and I’ll give it a push from the back, and then you’ll be able to drive the car out.”
He added as a polite gesture, “Or I could drive out front and find someone to fix it for you, that would be one way to do it.”
Mei-Jin said, “No. But it’s bad to bother you to fix my car for me.” As she said that, she gave him a flirtatious smile.
Gao Li Si was sizing up her wonderful body, and said, “There, I’m very happy to help you, in fact, it’s no trouble, within five minutes, it’s done. Let’s do it this way, you first go to that small store to have a cup of coffee, wait for me to change the tire of the car and then drive the car out together.”
Mijin said, “Thank you, then.”
Gao Li Si watched Mei Zhen walk into the tavern, and then took stock of the current situation. He couldn’t help but curse his own stupidity, because, if someone saw him and Mei Zhen together at this time, wouldn’t it be very dangerous for his future actions if he were to make a move?
There was a rumble of a large truck on the road. Wouldn’t it be bad if the driver of this truck was questioned later and remembered that he was the man who had been with Mi-jin? But now it was too late, the situation did not allow him to retreat, in order not to make Mi-jin suspicious, he could only quickly start to repair the car.
Goliath first removed the key from the ignition switch in the car. The car smelled of perfume, the back seat was full of luggage and boxes of fashionable hats, and on the side window there was a gold sticker with the word “KAO” on it.
Gao Li Shi side to change the tires, the other side thought: this “KAO” three words is about to stand for what the student fellowship it. It’s funny that the famous killer Gao Li Shi would be fooled by a schoolgirl.
Goliath quickly changed the tires on his car and put his tools back in the trunk. He hurried to the tuck store, peering in the window before going in, but fortunately there were no other customers in the store, only Mei Zhen.
“Got it.” Goliath said as he handed Mijin the car keys. His eyes lingered on Mijin’s face until the shopkeeper came out of the kitchen when he sat down next to her and ordered a cup of coffee.
The two sat there in a somewhat awkward silence. In the end, it was Mei-Jin who opened the deadlock first, as she took out a pack of cigarettes from her handbag, lit one, and said, “I’m really sorry to trouble you with such hard work.”
“Never mind, that’s nothing.”
“Was the tire punctured by a nail?”
“Nice, it’s a nail. I put the replacement tire in the trunk.”
“I was driving home from school, home for vacation.”
“I don’t see how the two of us might be able to get the car out of the quagmire, the wheels are in pretty deep yet! Why don’t I drive you to the nearest gas station and then, ask them to send someone to tow your car out.”
Goliath said while trying his best to act as if nothing had happened. Once she was in his car, things would be easier. He thought.
Mei-Jin looked at the telephone on the wall and said, “I can call…”
“Sure, whatever you want. But I’m driving to Murrs City anyway, so it’s good to give you a ride.”
Goliath carefully pushed up his sleeves, looked at his watch, and said, “I’m about to leave, so sit down for a while; I almost forgot I had an appointment.”
“Ah, it’s not like I’m holding you up on your date, is it?”
“That’s okay, I still have ten or twenty minutes left?”
“Do you travel a lot? Is it a salesman?”
“Yes.” He added, “My name is Deng Shicai.”
“My name is Woo Mei-Jin.” She smiled, “What a bad day. I wasn’t going to go home for vacation either, Murrs City is a boring place. Luckily, I met a nice guy like you.”
Goliath: “Don’t say that, anyone would do you a favor. Oh, I have to go, how about you, do you want to come along?”
Mei-Jin looked at the telephone set on the wall again, then said, “Okay, I’ll go with you.”
Gao Li Shi breathed a sigh of relief. Right now, the only danger was the owner of that small restaurant, Si could recognize his face, but it was worth taking such a small risk if he was able to get the job done now.
He could hardly wait. However, not more than a few steps after Mei Zhen walked out, she suddenly stopped in her tracks. Goliath looked down the slope, and it turned out that behind her car, a large black automobile had stopped, and three men and a woman had stepped out of it. One of them, a teenager, was looking at the wheels of his car, which were stuck in the mud, and he was wearing a sweatshirt with a gold “D” on his chest. The girl, who had now also seen Mi-jin, waved at her.
Gao Li Si held back a foul word that had already rushed to his lips and asked, “Who are those people?”
“Classmates from school. I forgot they were coming home today too. Otherwise, I could have gotten to your appointment without having to delay you, and they would have been able to help me get the car out.”
The teenager in the sweatshirt eyed Goliath very attentively. Goliath pretended not to see him, side-stepped and walked with Mi-jin to his car, then shook Mi-jin’s hand and said goodbye.
Goliath cursed as he drove to the city of Murrs.
The Rainbow Hotel was a gray, dusty building located on Main Street in this small town. When Gorges checked in at the hotel counter, the desk clerk took out a telegram and handed it to him, saying, “This was sent to you a short time ago, Mr. Gorges.”
Gosley thought: something must have gone wrong, or Long Feiyun would never have telegraphed him before he arrived at the hotel. Because of this, he had one more chance to be noticed, and that desk clerk would surely remember him.
In the past, as long as there was the slightest sign that something was wrong, Gosley would have to cancel his mission to be on the safe side. But this time was different, for the sake of that money, he had to do it the hard way.
As soon as he entered the room, Gosley opened the telegram. The telegram contained about eleven or twelve sentences in the tone of a call from a wife to her husband, saying that the child was sick. After reading the telegram in one breath, Gao Shi Li could not help but feel greatly troubled. It turned out that in those seemingly ordinary statements, but there is another code message inside.
The source said that David has hired special bodyguards. Who are they? Who are they? And how many are there? The telegram did not specify. Anyway, the matter was obvious, Long Feiyun wanted to practice his intimidation action, and the news had already leaked out. Gao Shili tore the telegram and put it in the ashtray to burn it. He thought: I’ve dealt with hotter bodyguards, am I still afraid of anyone?
Gao Shi Li stood in front of the window, looking at the rain outside, and suddenly a strange feeling flooded his heart: he didn’t want to kill Mei Zhen. Why? He himself could not figure it out.
Five,
Gosley stayed in Moores City for two days and accomplished nothing. The walls of the hotel room were plastered with a kind of rose-patterned wallpaper, and Gosley bored himself for so many hours that by Friday night he had counted every rose on the four walls, which amounted to nine thousand three hundred and twelve in all.
He had read six detective novels, taken from the bookshelf where the hotel rested. He had been to the little dining room at the corner of the Rainbow Hotel street corner for six boring meals. He had summoned the hotel’s prostitutes, but the vulgar tallow failed to interest him. Late one night he had driven past the house of his intended victim, David Woo, but it was dark and he could see nothing.
Aside from these activities, Goslee spent two days like a prisoner in a jail cell. On Friday it rained all day, and on Saturday the rain stopped, although it was still gray and wet. Gao Shi Li, however, was waiting for the darkness to come. According to the information obtained, Wu Mei Zhen went out with her boyfriend every Saturday night.
Coatsley did not eat dinner that day, for his stomach could no longer stand the raw sweet potatoes and rough steaks of that small dining room. He took out a revolver, fitted it with a silencer, put the gun into a concealed pocket in his specially tailored jacket, and left the hotel.
Coatsley walked to the parking lot, drove up to an intersection in front of the Witch’s house, stopped, turned out the headlights, twisted on the radio to turn the sound down, and waited patiently.
At ten minutes past eight o’clock, car lights appeared on the street, and Goslee sat up to see a white, two-seater sports car speeding up and into the big iron gate in front of the Witch’s house. Twenty minutes later, the car pulled out, turned a corner, and drove in the direction of Goslee’s parking lot. Coatsley sat down low and moved to the side of the sidewalk. The sports car brushed past, and out of the corner of his eye he saw the pretty face of a woman giggling with the young man driving.
As soon as Gosley waited for them to pass, he started the engine and turned the car around. He had just finished turning a large bay when he saw the bright light of headlights in the rearview mirror of the car. Immediately after the sports car, another automobile came out of the big iron gate of the witch house.
Coatsley paused for a moment, finding his heart racing while remembering the doctor’s warning telling him to avoid heart stimulation. Gosley could see that the car was a large black sedan, and he could only see one person in it. The black car slowed down for a moment before accelerating to catch up with the sports car in front of it. Gosley knew that the driver in that car must be a bodyguard and had already seen him in this car.
Gao Shi Li waited for the black car to drive about two blocks away before he stepped on the gas to catch up. He turned right at the first intersection, then left again, and drove into a street parallel to the road just now. Gosling searched all the way, but never found the shadow of the black car. It was only at the last motel, the White Sun Inn, that he spotted the white sports car.
The “Hakusang Hotel” is a two-story dilapidated building with a row of six small cottages behind it, identical in appearance, which are the rooms for automobile tourists.
Gosley circled around between the column of small houses and the big house and looked carefully, but except for the white sports car, among the three dozen or so automobiles parked there, there was no black automobile that he had tracked within.
Gao Shi Li parked the car, sat and smoked cigarettes for ten minutes, the black car still did not appear. He felt a little wrong, but, again, can not wait long. So he patted the revolver in the dark pocket of the suit, get out of the car toward the white sun hotel that big house, before going in, his eyes to both sides of the highway a sweep, a car did not!
Inside the halls of the White Sun Inn, it was just as dark as it could be, the only lights were just a few covered lamps mounted on the bar and a few lamps on top of those small tables.
Above the dance floor, there was a multi-angled silver ball spinning with a glittering silver light. A crappy five-piece jazz band was playing hit music. The dance floor and the small tables around it were crowded with pairs of men and women, most of whom appeared to be teenagers, adult or underage. The humid air smelled of sweat, perfume and tobacco.
Gosley bypassed the music stand, found a round stool at the bar and sat down, ordered a drink, and then searched for his target. His keen eyes soon spotted his quarry, the two of them were sitting at the small table closest to one end of the bar.
Mi-Jin wore a ribbon in her long hair and a tight wool coat, short skirt, nylons and high heels. Her boyfriend, a skinny college student in a leather blouse, had three empty wine glasses and a poured glass in front of him. There was only one half-full glass of wine in front of Mi-Jin.
Gosley looked around him again. At one end of the bar were two lads in leather flight jackets, drunkenly eyeing the class of flying women sitting at a table next to the music stand. The bartender at the bar was burying his head in a book of comic strips.
Gosley lifted his glass to take a sip, saw the half-lipstick mark on the rim of the glass, and immediately set it down carefully, turning his head back to look at his prey. Somehow he had an inexplicable monkish hatred for Mei-Jin’s partner. The boy was crooning and foaming at the mouth while Mi-Jin shook her head in disbelief. Then she stood up, grabbed her handbag, and headed over to that side of the hallway.
It was then that Gosseyn had the chance to see Mei Zhen’s body for the first time. A pair of full, firm breasts strained her white wool sweater, and her narrow skirt, wrapped around her round, plump hips, was swinging from side to side as he watched her walk into the restroom.
Just then, Gosley caught a glimpse of Mi-jin’s boyfriend, tucking what appeared to be a hotel key underneath one of the napkins on the table, with a piece of tape tied around the key.
Gosley picked up his glass of wine and paced over slowly, looking both ways as he went. Until now, he hadn’t noticed any characters shaped like bodyguards. From his years of experience, this would never be wrong. If there really was a bodyguard around, he would be able to tell at a glance.
Gosley walked over to Mijin’s boyfriend’s table and peeked down. The kid was staring at the glass of wine in front of him. A small piece of the tape on the key was exposed on the napkin, and Goslee could clearly see a “crane” and a “3”.
Shortly afterward Mi-Jin returned, and the young man spoke to her again in a long series of words, Mi-Jin still shaking her head. Then the young man gave another impassioned speech and tapped his hand on the key under the napkin. Mi-jin looked at the key without saying a word, and then at her boyfriend for a long time before nodding slightly and saying she was going to dance.
That one got the boy’s eyebrows raised, and he enthusiastically wrapped his arm around her thin waist and walked into the crowd on the dance floor.
Gosseyn took a drink from his glass, his mind made up. He figured the time was coming.
After one dance, Mijin walked back to her seat.
In his heart, Gosley said, “You will no longer go home tonight. And you will not see the sunlight again.”
Six,
After five minutes, the band took a break, and they put down their instruments and fishtailed out through a small door. Mijin nervously grabs the lockpick under her napkin and surreptitiously slips it into her handbag. Her boyfriend points to his watch and says something, and she nods again.
Mi-Jin picked up her fleece tunic from the back of the chair and walked away. The lad eyed her round ass, which twisted and turned inside her skirt, until she disappeared in the darkness. Afterward, a sly grin spread across his face and he contentedly drank the rest of the wine in his glass.
The meaning of this pantomime was very simple and easy to understand, and while the pantomime was being acted out, Gosley had already worked out in his mind a temporary plan of action. The first step was to kick the lad out of the way before he got in the way.
He walked over to greet the kid and said, “Hello.”
The pale, half-drunken lad looked at Gosley and said, “You’ve got the wrong man, friend.”
Gosling ignored him and raised his voice higher, “We haven’t seen you in a long time.”
Someone in the neighboring seat turned their head, but then turned back. Coatsley took a seat in front of the lad.
With a disgusted look on his face, the kid said to Gosley, “You’re drunk, aren’t you?”
Gosley laughed out loud for a moment, then lowered his voice and said to him, “Be a good boy and get up and walk outside with me for once, or watch out for the hole I’m going to blow through you.” After that, he walked over to the lad, put one hand on his shoulder and whispered in his ear, “Get your body next to me. Did you touch it? That’s it. That’s a pistol; be sensible and you’ll be all right.”
The boy shuddered, “Who…who…”
Gosley said softly, “Don’t nag, you’ve got five more seconds, kid.”
The boy reluctantly got to his feet, and knocked over a glass. Gosseyn smiled, wrapped one arm affectionately around his waist, and held him hostage as he walked out the door, saying to him on the other hand, “Don’t play games, and pretend we’re dealing with old friends.”
As they passed the bar, the bartender glanced at them, and Gosley hastened to shout to the lad, “Man, you’ve had too much to drink this time.”
As soon as he was out of the doorway, the boy tried to run away. Gosling grabbed him, slammed him against the wall, and grabbed him by the hand.
The boy trembled between, “What do you want? Who…who the hell are you?”
Gosley’s cold, unfeeling eyes looked at him and said, “Don’t argue, nerd, it’s me asking you now, not you asking me. What’s your name?”
“Wang Qun.”
“Okay, now I want you to walk over to the trees over there in the parking lot, see them? Nod your head if you see it. Good! You’ll always be able to do something simple like that.”
“Of course I can do it, but what are you going to do with me?”
“I want you to rest for a while. If you don’t make a sound, nothing at all. If you pull any tricks, I’ll shoot you through a hole, understand?”
Wang Qun bit his lip and didn’t make a sound.
Coatsley frowned and said, “Did you hear what I said? Kid! Do you think I’m joking with you?”
“No…no.”
“Look at me, do I look like I’m joking?”
Wang Qun looked up into his cold eyes, a look of terror appearing on his face as he said, “You… you’re serious.”
“Great, then cut the crap and get going.”
“Who…who the hell are you?”
Gao Shi Li gritted his teeth and said fiercely, “Kid, if you don’t know any better, I’ll send you to the King of Yan with a single shot.”
He looked around and it was quiet, no oncoming cars or people. He raised his left hand and punched the lad on the cheek and said, “My pistol is equipped with a silencer, and when I fire it there is only a tiny little sound, if you talk any more, I can kill you anytime and no one will hear, understand?”
Wang Qun said, “Don’t do it, I’ll just stop asking you.”
“Go on, walk in front of me, not too fast.”
So the two of them crossed the sandy area of the parking lot one after the other, and came to that bush. Under Gao Shi Li’s threat, Wang Qun led the way about a dozen steps deeper into the bushes, then stopped.
Gosling said, “Enough, turn around.”
After Wang Qun turned around, Gao Shi Li took two steps forward and asked, “Now I’m going to ask you a few questions. Where did Mei Zhen go?”
“Mi-jin? You’re not going to violate her…”
Without waiting for him to finish the sentence, Gosley took up the barrel of his revolver and struck him on the left side of the face, saying, “What more do you want me to do to you before you’ll behave?”
“Do you want to go violate Mi-jin? What are you, a pornographer or…”
Gosley raised his revolver to hit him again so hard that Wang Qun staggered back a step.
“That will make you believe me, won’t it, boy? Now pay attention to what I say.”
“I…yes, I’ll keep my ears open.”
“Is Mi-jin there?”
“In…in the little house behind the White Sun Inn.”
“In room three, isn’t it?”
“How… how did you know?”
“Never mind how I know. She’s waiting for you in that room, isn’t she?”
“Yes.”
“You convinced her to agree to a rendezvous with you tonight, didn’t you?”
“Yes?” Coatsley repeated.
“Yes.”
“All right, boy. Now turn around so it’s easier on you.”
“Ah, my God, you’re not going to…” the boy let out a weak call.
“If you don’t get wise, I’m really going to beat you to death.”
As soon as Wang Qun turned around, Gao Shi Li immediately raised his pistol high and struck him down with the handle on the back of his head. Wang Qun’s knees went weak and he fell to the ground. Gao Shili went up and knocked again, and Wang Qun fell down on the leaf-covered mud.
Gosley put the pistol back into his coat pocket and then knelt down on the leaves. He first unbuttoned Wang Qun’s jacket and removed his belt, tying his hands behind his back. After that, he took out a handkerchief from Wang Qun’s suit, rolled it into a ball and stuffed it in his mouth, then undid his tie and tied his mouth tightly so that the handkerchief would not come out. As Gosley tied the last knot, he suddenly realized that something was wrong. But by the time he fetched his pistol and quickly turned around, it was too late.
In front of him stood a tall, hatless man, with his back to the light of the White Sun Inn sign, whose dark silhouette was all that was visible and whose face was indistinguishable.
For about half a second, the shadow didn’t move. After that, he spoke, “Don’t move, Gosley, or you’ll be dead immediately.”
Gosley’s mind immediately launched into a search; when and where could this voice have been heard, and who was it?
The dark shadow took a step forward. Now, by the light of the hotel, he could see more clearly that the man had a small pistol in his hand.
He turned a little sideways, and Gosseyn gave a start. For he recognized the man’s face. Yes, it was him. Gao Shili almost wanted to escape, but he couldn’t get away. The only thing he could do was to ask with a dry throat, “Are you Guan Dongren?”
The man smiled pleasantly and said, “I am, by the way.”
Gosseyn could not say anything for a moment, but continued to watch the Pipe Winter Man. His face remained the same as before; bullet-shaped pointed skull, short hair, inseparable curved ears, and an ugly little mouth.
Pipe Dongren sneered, “Why, Gao Shi Li, why don’t you say a word? Aren’t we old friends?”
“You…you can’t possibly be working here as an errand boy!”
“Good, you guessed it. I’m not a Chicago detective anymore.”
Pipe Winterman’s face was filled with hatred as he said, “That was two years ago. The Director was not satisfied with my use of torture devices to force suspects to testify and removed me from my post.”
Gosley asked listlessly, “Woo Davy invited you?”
“Yes, the guy who paid for you to come must have told you that Wodawi hired bodyguards yah. Your employers are some of the shrewdest and most capable characters out there.”
“I thought…”
“You think you’re going to hire those useless assholes? This time it’s his life on the line, of course he’s going to hire the best bodyguards he can find, especially to guard against people like your buddy.”
“You’re the one driving the black car?”
“Of course. I saw you following me a long time ago. Then I pulled into the crossroads and waited for you to come with the lights out. As soon as you came to Bai Yang, I watched you all the way. If you had wanted to shoot this young man, I would have shot you first. But now things are different again, and I can take my time before it’s too late.”
Pipe Winterman paused and went on, “You have just struck Wang Qun, and I just happen to have been hired to protect Ms. Mei-Jin and the boys who are traveling with her. If I kill you, I’m just following orders, it’s my duty, understand?”
“Count me out.”
“You really are a bad move, Gosley. Damn, I never thought you’d have a day like this?”
“I’ve been giving you attention for a long time?”
Tubby Winterman waved the small pistol in his hand and said, “You didn’t think that someone could have insight into your past even in a poor town like this, did you?”
Pipe Winterman speaks with a malicious, proud tone. He switches his grip on the gun slightly, then says, “Looks like you’re out of luck this time, old friend.”
Seven,
Gosley still held the revolver in his hand, only with the barrel down and the muzzle pointed at the ground. He could hardly believe that what had just happened and was happening now was real.
Pipe Dongren did not immediately take further action, this ruthless retired detective, it seems to be like a cat playing with a mouse to slowly torment Gao Shi Li, not in a hurry to put him to death yet.
“We haven’t seen each other for eight or nine years since we last broke up. Look at you, you’re still in an expensive suit, are you fishing well? Old friend!”
Gosley remained silent.
“Do you still do ‘Slayer’, Guthrie?”
Gosley said angrily, “Bullshit!”
Guan Dongren’s hand holding the gun suddenly came to a small unnatural movement, as if his fingers had twitched a little. Happen to be GaoShiLi see in the eyes. He secretly guessed in his heart: could this be a sign of Guan Dongren’s nervousness? If so, he would have a chance of survival.
Tubby Winterman spoke again, “Hmph! Gosley, do you want me to tell you how big this killer of yours is and how much it’s worth?”
In a calm voice, Gosseyn said, “As you wish.”
“Do you remember Acchan?” He said with a smug smile.
“A-hyang isn’t she that little ninny from Jace’s singing and dancing class?”
Guan Dongren growled, “Don’t be ridiculous. You harbored Ah Heung for two years back then, while she was still underage. You think you’re so great, don’t you? Ah Heung told me everything about you. She said you were nasty old man. She also described the funny way you used to sit down and wipe your pistol violently…”
“That’s enough, Pipe.”
“Not only that, what if I told you that Ah Heung had abandoned you and then moved in with me? If I tell you that Ah Heung has married me, and is now and also being paid by Woo Tai Wai, and at the same time, living in the Rainbow Hotel in the urban area, then what do you think?”
“You’re bragging, aren’t you?” Gosling said.
“Yeah? Believe it or not.”
“How could Ah Heung fancy an ugly devil like you…”
“In fact it was she who had her eye on me.” Tubby Winterman said smugly.
Gao Shili heart more and more angry, his appearance does not move, in fact, the heart has been secretly in the calculation, he was in the chest, “What do you intend to do, the old tube! You’re going to kill me right here?”
It was a psychological attack. The Tube Winterman hesitated for a short moment, but it was enough to strengthen Gosseynski’s confidence.
Tubby Winterman said, “I’ll release the boy and then drive you back to the Woo house. Before your soul returns to heaven, Witch Davy may want to ask you some questions. The Wu family’s house is big enough, you’ve seen it before, and I can say that it’s unknowable for me to finish you off in there. Although the Wu family is not yet sure whether they should use force to deal with them, I will be able to convince him when I get back. All right, now you give me your gun, Gosley, and stand to-“
Before Pipe Dongren could finish his sentence, Gao Shi Li said, “Excellent, Lao Pipe.” When it was too late, Gao Shili’s pistol was originally muzzle down, but now he didn’t even raise his arm, he only used his wrist to raise the muzzle, and fired at Guan Dongren from his original position.
Guan Dongren also reacted very quickly, his small pistol followed, the sound was similar to Gao Shili’s revolver equipped with a silencer. But by then, Gao Shili had already dodged aside, and his bullet was fired into the trunk of a tree behind him. After the sound of the gunshot, Tubular Winter fell down. He had been hit by Goslee’s revolver.
When Goslee dragged the Pipe Winterman about ten yards into the bushes by the collar of his coat, by this time the Pipe Winterman was dead. Goslee picked up some leaves and covered his face.
Wang Qun, who was lying on the ground on the side, began to let out a faint moan. Gao Shi Li looked towards the parking lot to see if the two low gunshots had alerted others. But the sky kept raining and he couldn’t see anyone.
Gosley bent down and struck Wang Qun with the hilt of his gun one more time before dragging him deeper into the bushes, close to where the body of Pipe Winterman was. Afterward, he leaned against a tree trunk, eyes closed, and took a big breath to ease his muscles.
Gosley wins another round. A long time ago, Gao Shi Li already knew how to use fast guns. The shot was fast, steady and accurate, which was the main factor of his success.
Gao Shi Li’s heart was flooded with satisfaction. However, he suddenly remembered those words of Guan Dongren about Ah Xiang, and instantly made another decision in his heart. The plan in Gao Shi Li’s mind was: first, kill Mei Zhen. Secondly, to find Ah Heung and teach her a lesson. He estimated the time, he had to finish these tasks before midnight. The time is a bit rushed, only a little more than two hours. However, with that kid and the dead body of Guan Dongren lying there, he could not be quicker.
Gosley carefully put the revolver into his coat pocket, then walked to the row of short houses behind the White Sun Inn, hoping that Mei Zhen would not be suspicious because she had waited so much and had not yet seen her lover’s arrival.
When he thought of the word lover boy, Gao Shi Li had an odd feeling in his heart. He did not want to imagine Mei Zhen undressed and that young boy sleeping in bed. Gao Shili forced himself not to think any more, he told himself: don’t worry about Wang Qun for her anymore. She is nothing but a target for my gun.
Thinking, thinking, he had come between room three and room four. He looked both ways, but there was no one in sight, so he gently twisted open the door of Room 3 and flashed in, gently bringing the door closed with the inevitable slight “eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”.
Gosley stood in the darkness for a moment, his nose catching a whiff of musty wallpaper in the room, interspersed with the smell of whiskey. The window at the front of the room let in the faint light of the hotel’s neon tube sign through the cheaply drawn curtain fabric. In one corner of the room, there was a gas stove with a ring of light blue flames pulsing inside.
By now, Gosley’s eyes were gradually adjusting to the dark light of the room. He saw an almost completely empty bottle of wine on the table next to the bed. There was a sudden sizzling sound from the bed, and Gosley immediately removed the revolver. He saw a crystal white body turning on the bed.
“Wang Qun, is that you?”
No answer.
“Wang Qun, is that you, dear?”
Gosley had snapped his finger on the trigger, but after waiting a moment, he couldn’t pull the trigger yet. He couldn’t understand why he hadn’t taken the opportunity to shoot, he just felt his throat drying up and the air in the room hot and constricted.
Mei Zhen was lying on one side of that double bed, completely naked, and the faint light coming in through the window made a wonderfully moving pattern on her ample breasts. She turned her head around to look at him, one of her hands gripping a nightgown.
She asked again, “Wang Qun, why don’t you say anything?”
Coatsley made an uh-oh sound in his throat in reply.
Mei-Jin said, “I did as you said.” She gestured with her hand toward the bottle of wine on the table, “I’ll drink that bottle.”
Gao Shili realized that she was facing the crisis of destruction, he wanted to shoot, but the revolver in his hand was as heavy as lead, and did not listen to the command at all. His mouth was really thirsty, but he couldn’t take his eyes away from Meizhen’s snow-white and plump body.
Mei Zhen’s uplifted breasts looked even more beautiful in the gloom, and a glimmer of light emanated from her blonde hair. With every movement of her body, Gosley gulped.
After a while, Mei Zhen raised her hand and said in a soft tone, “Wang Qun, why don’t you come over?”
Gao Shi Li realized at this time, Mei Zhen has been drunk, almost unaware of the people.
“Wang Qun, dear, why don’t you come yet? Don’t be afraid, I…I’m ready.”
Gosseyn’s throat felt as if a lump was sticking in his throat and he was uncomfortable. After a slight hesitation, he put his revolver in his coat pocket and walked over to sit down beside Mei Zhen. In the gloomy light he saw that her eyes were closed.
Mei Zhen stretched out a hand to stroke his hair. Gao Shi Li also put a hand over, first on her shoulder, then, sliding down, teasingly stroking on Mei Zhen’s lubricated, greasy torso.
Mijin’s other hand, wrapped around his neck and said softly, “Don’t be too rough, darling.”
“Wang Qun… ah yo… ah…” in the darkness, only Mei Zhen’s whispered cry could be heard.
His eyes seemed to be ablaze with love, and his blood ran cold. Both had the same intense need, and like a ball of fire, she threw herself into his arms, shouting in a trembling voice, “Kiss me! Love me! Love me hard!” Four lips, tightly glued together.
Wu Mei Zhen’s hand, reaching down and moving around, soon released the big, aroused and inexplicable prick, and it was much easier for Gao Shi Li to deal with her. He could not help sucking on her nipples, and his fingers disappeared into the grassland. Then, Wu Mei Zhen shivered greatly, and her legs parted unexpectedly, so that Gao Shi Li had one hand as if it was in a hot spring.
“Ah! I want…” she murmured in a wavy voice, while her hands were stroking the snake.
He couldn’t contain his excitement, and as he released her swollen nipples, he cupped her hips and lifted them upward, and she let out a low cry, and, petite as she was, she wrapped herself around him like an ape. His big rod pushed in smoothly and she moaned in ecstasy once more. It was just a rush into the flesh, a joyous ride! She was so wet and hot, Yi Yi. And Gosseyn was so impatient and aroused!
The fire was so strong that it was uncontrollable when it touched. Her emptiness was dispelled by him in an instant. The feeling of pleasure and fulfillment caused her to let out a series of moans of both pain and pleasure. Her beautiful legs, wrapped around his back.
“Oh…you’re so tough!” She was screaming in pleasure as she obliviously took in the flesh of his shoulder.
His passionate fingers, touched all over the hot spring area, also touched the round big moon. Her elasticity is excellent, especially where it should be convex, is like a thick cushion of flesh, coupled with the thick grass, Gao Shi Li’s impact, subjected to a subtle rebound force, so that he is soul-crushing.
So, Gosseyn could not contain the cry of his heart, and he yelled, “Oh…oh…I’m happy! I’m…I’m as happy as an angel!”
She opened her lips and bit on his shoulder as she was pushed to the top. GaoShiLi also can not restrain, he longed for catharsis, a kind of volcanic eruption of catharsis! Only in this way, his tension to the extreme nerves, can obtain relaxation, relaxation. So, he did not hesitate to catharsis, drenching, so that the heat of life, sprayed into her every excited cell…
Eight,
“Why you?” Mei Zhen’s first question when she woke up was, “Where did Wang Qun go?”
“Don’t ask.” Gosley said, “It’s a long story, now let’s eat something and let’s get away, someone is trying to kill us.” With that, he got up. Mei Zhen also stopped talking. She was already Gao Shi Li’s person anyway. He pulled up one of the shutters and looked outside.
After nightfall, Gosley and Mei-Jin cleaned up the cottage, straightened the place out, and made the beds so that the house looked as if no one had been there since last summer. When they left, Mei-Jin put on another flannel shirt as a coat, and wrapped a flowered towel around her head.
Gosley asked her, “Do you know of any farms there?”
“Go ahead on this road, around the lake, and turn to the side opposite the lake, and you’ll see the farmhouse.”
“Well, let’s just go.”
They walked around the lake and after turning left, they did see a farmhouse in the distance. Gosley took out his revolver and double-checked to make sure it was fully loaded.
They passed two houses in succession, and each time Mei Zhen stayed on the road. It was left to Gosley alone to sneak closer to reconnoiter, but each time he came back shaking his head, saying, “There are four or five people in the kitchen; let’s look for a second house!”
When they got to the third room, Gosley came back with a smile and told Mei-Jin, “There’s only one light on in this room, and only one boy about your age in there, so follow me.”
They passed the farmhouse and walked over to a wrecked automobile. Gosley looked at it and said, “It’s a shame there’s no locking key, or things would be much simpler.”
They went through the back door between the granary and the house. Gosley saw that the door was only a foot or two away, and, with his gun in his hand, he was wishing in his heart that it had not been bolted. He jumped over it swiftly, kicked the door open, and rushed into the kitchen, saying coldly; “Funky don’t move, sub-chap.”
The teenager in the kitchen, who had been sitting with a glass of milk, stood up and slowly raised both hands above his head. The young man did not show a look of panic, which made Gosley feel a little uneasy, and then he realized that he was watching Mei Zhen behind him.
After looking at you for a while, he said, “Yah, I recognize you. You’re Wu Dawei’s daughter!”
Gao Shi Li said to Mei Zhen, “Stand still and ignore him.” Then he said to the boy, “What’s your name?”
“My name is Zhao Yu.”
“You live alone in this house, don’t you?”
“No.”
Gosseyn stepped forward and said angrily, “So, come on!”
“Say what?”
“Who else lives here?”
“Dad and Mom, they’re not here right now.”
“Who owns that old automobile behind the house?”
“It’s mine.”
“Can it walk? Don’t lie or you’ll regret it.”
Jo Yu looked at Mijin and said, “Of course it’s able to walk.”
Coatsley said fiercely, “Look at me. Bring me the car keys.”
“What’s going on here? Are you…are you kidnapping her ticket, or what?”
“Shut up, kid. Bring me the keys to the lock, or do I have to use this gun to give you a few strokes in the face before I make a move for the keys.”
Zhao Yu’s eyes flashed with a burst of anger, but he immediately shook his head and took out a bunch of locking keys from his pants pocket to hand over to Gao Shi Li, saying, “That square-cornered one is it.”
Zhao Yu was gazing at Mei-Jin again. Gosseyn saw a strange, embarrassed expression on her face. He sank down, raised his pistol, and said to Mei Zhen, “Go out first and wait for me in the automobile.”
Zhao Yu looked nervously at Gao Shi Li.
Mijin hesitantly said, “I can help you tie him up.”
“I’m not going to tie him up, I’m going to shoot him.”
Zhao Yu’s throat cackled.
Mei-Jin panicked and ran to Gosseyn, pulling on his arm, saying, “Why bother? You didn’t have to kill him, did you?”
“Have you forgotten that he recognizes who you are?”
“He knows me, but it’s not like he’s…”
“Shut up, this is my business, you don’t have to care.”
Mijin, despite the fact that he was seething, still said, “No, I can’t let you just beat him to death.”
Gosseyn said viciously, “What is he to you? You care for him so much.”
“Nonsense, I’ve never seen him, at least I can’t remember seeing him.”
Zhao Yu interjected, “She’s telling the truth. The truth is that everyone here knows about Witch Davy and his daughter.”
Gosley said to Mei-Jin, “Get out, let’s not waste any more time.”
But Mi-Jin’s hand still clung to his arm. Gosley did his best to avoid looking at her, instead just looking at Zhao Yu along the barrel of his pistol. Zhao Yu stiffened his body against the front of the refrigerator.
Gao Shi Li constantly reminded himself: I am a “professional killer”, this guy in front of me is just a target. However, when he raised his gun and aimed, he couldn’t help but look down at Mei Zhen beside him, and her voice was ringing in his ears: “You’ve already killed too many people. You don’t want to kill him, there’s no reason for that ah.”
He called out, “For the love of God, will you stop pestering me?”
Mei Zhen cried while saying, “How could you kill him…, for no reason.”
Gao Shi Li shouted loudly, “What can or cannot? My life is in this boy’s hands. Yes, my life, don’t you think, am I going to go ahead and leave this boy to tell the police that he has seen you and me?”
Mijin thought for a while and said, “Then take… take him with you. But don’t kill him.”
“Take him? What the fuck kind of reason is that?”
“We…we might need him as a hostage or something.” She excused herself.
Gao Shi Li was about to scold her loudly, but changed his mind. He looked at the stunned Zhao Yu and took a deep breath as his left chest ached again. He thought to himself: haven’t I been dragged down by her enough? Am I still subject to her; her face, her lips, her body, her breasts, and her irresistible eyes? Shit!
Gosseyn gritted his teeth, his finger on the trigger, but he lacked the last, and most important, resolve.
Finally, after gazing at Mi-Jin for a minute, he said dismally, “Young man, turn off the lights and walk ahead of us to that old automobile.” Jo Yu silently did as he instructed.
Nine,
Gosley was the last to leave the house, and before he left, he stood in the doorway for a while, looking at the starry night sky and taking a hard breath of the fresh air of the fields. A funny thought suddenly flashed through his mind that he would rest for the night in this secluded environment.
The car door slammed shut, and Gosseyn immediately walked across the yard to the car. He felt that it would be improper to leave Mei Zhen alone with Zhao Yu. He sized up his current situation again: the advantage of keeping Zhao Yu was that he could be used as a hostage if necessary, using his life as bargaining capital. The downside was that the kid Zhao Yu might have snatched Mei Zhen away from him. Zhao Yu was a threat to him.
Gao Shi Li opened the door of the back seat of the automobile and asked Mei Zhen to switch places with Zhao Yu, to whom he said, “Sit in the front so that I can keep an eye on you.” Gao Shi Li then started the engine and drove the car along the route he had just drawn up.
“I understand why you’re involved within this kind of thing as well.” Jo Yu said softly to Mijin.
Mijin replied, “It’s better if you don’t know…”
Gosley immediately interrupted her, “Neither of you are allowed to talk too much!”
He was toying with Mi-jin’s comment, did it indicate that she was upset about something that happened later? He couldn’t help but feel his anger rising.
He said to Zhao Yu, “Listen carefully, I’ll follow her words and not kill you, but you’re not my guest of honor. You are only a hostage. I just want you to sit there obediently, don’t ask any more questions, and don’t talk in a high voice.”
Jo Yu said softly, “Okay.”
Gosley glanced at the gas gauge on the car without caring and cursed. He asked, “This gauge isn’t broken?”
“I don’t think it’s going to break.”
“The fucking needle on the gauge is almost at zero. Why didn’t you just tell me there was no gas in the tank?”
“I forgot, I…”
“Fuck you. How much farther can we go? It doesn’t even look like we have two gallons of gas.”
Jo Yu licked her lips and said, “We could probably go another mile.”
“Ten miles? Two gallons for ten miles?”
Zhao Yu gathered her courage and said, “Not two gallons, we only have one gallon left. You see that the needle is already lower again. Besides, this car uses a lot of gas.”
Gosley looked at the highway and fields in front of him, and suddenly felt his chest twisting and his pulse quickening. He could not restrain the nervous tension and disappointment. Things have to come to an end, if there is another mistake, then his fate is unimaginable.
Gosley made up his mind that the only way to make the most of the gallon of gas now was to go as far as he could, until he couldn’t go any further, and then think of something else. He pulled onto one of the busier highways, and a large truck drove right across the street, while the shadow of the headlights of the car from behind reappeared in the rearview mirror. Sweat was already oozing from Gosley’s hands.
The road was curved and could only be driven slowly. After turning the last corner and entering the straight road, Gao Shili opened his eyes and looked forward, and couldn’t help but draw a breath of cold air. The road in front of them was flat and straight. However, about a mile in front of their car, judging from the number of headlights and rear lights, there were at least six cars being parked together.
Mijin drove her body forward and asked, “What’s that?”
“Trojan, checkpoint. It looks like we’re going to have to turn onto another road.”
“Can’t you turn the car around?”
“No, then they’ll see us.” In the back of his mind, he thought that if he couldn’t find a cross road to turn to before he reached the checkpoint ahead, things would be unimaginable.
Mei-Jin said, “Then maybe the checkpoint isn’t for us ah, we can try…”
“What if it is meant for us? Besides it must be aimed at us, is there a broken bridge on this road?” Just as he finished speaking, he caught a glimpse of a “T” symbol on the other side of the road, indicating a crossroads ahead. Soon, the cross road appeared, Gosley immediately drove the car into it, at this time the car is only half a mile or so from the checkpoint, maybe they have been seen, but this is the only way, if you turn backward; even more trouble, or even they will be chasing it.
It was a very bad dirt road, with a bumpy surface, and Gosley had to put the left wheel between his knees and use both hands in driving.
In the backseat of the car, came the sound of Mei Zhen’s soft sigh. Gao Shi Li heard her sigh, he guessed in his heart: was it that he had angered her by treating Zhao Yu in this way? He had to rely on her support all the way, and it was for her that he reached this point, if he lost her now, if she left him and joined forces with Zhao Yu, what would he do?
With that in mind, the car had already turned another small corner, and a gasoline station appeared right next to the highway in front of it.
Gosley said to Zhao Yu, “When I stop the car, you go get gas and let me deal with the people in the gas station.”
“Okay.”
Mijin said hurriedly, “You’re not going to kill anyone…”
“I’ll decide what I’m going to do when I get there.” Gosseyn replied brashly. However, when he heard Mei Zhen sigh, he felt quite regretful. He thought, in this life and death situation, is she still asking me to be a courteous gentleman? But, on the other hand, the less he could control himself and the more he exposed his ferocity and cruelty, the more he might drive Mei Zhen to approach Zhao Yu, and it might even be possible that she would run away with Zhao Yu…
As the car slowed down, Gosseynski took an attentive look at the jangling tube. Next to it was a one-room shack with a light on. When Goslee pulled up beside the jangle, he saw that there was only one person in the hut, a teenager younger and thinner than Zhao Yu, wearing a dark green shirt stained with oil. Outside the gasoline station, there was not a single car.
The teenager ran out of the house when he saw a car coming. Gosley looked carefully around, all dark, before raising his revolver gently.
The teenager came to the car and asked Gosley, “Want anything? Sir!”
Gosley raised his pistol high, pointed it at his face, and said, “Go and stand over by the jangling barrel.”
The teenager obeyed in panic. Coatsley stepped out of the car and nimbly stepped forward, looming over the teenager. The teenager panicked and put his hand over his head. Goslee ripped his hand away and raised the handle of his gun and brought it down heavily on his head. The teen staggered back a step, and Goslee continued to strike him, knocking him unconscious and to the ground.
Gosley waved the gun in his hand and ordered Zhao Yu, “Come down and fill up the car. Mei Zhen, you keep an eye on him.” Only after that, he leaned down and lifted the teenager’s ankles, dragging him into the cabin. He kept his eyes on Zhao Yu so that he could continue to monitor his movements. He saw that Jo Yu had taken the jangling throat and was bending over the rear of the car to work on it.
However, just as he was feeling smug, thinking that he had taught Zhao Yu a lesson in obedience, Gao Shi Li suddenly heard a strange hissing sound. He blinked, guessing the source of this hiss. And when he realized it and tried to take action, it was too late. Zhao Yu had already jumped to the wheel on the other side of the car before he could stop him. Then there was another “hiss!” sound. Gosseyn dropped the teenager and stood up, his whole body trembling with anger.
Now Zhao Yu stood up, his face white as paper, and in his right hand he held a small sharp folding knife. He licked his lips and said, “Come…come, kill me now.”
With a wild cry, Gosley rushed up and struck him on the head with his pistol. Zhao Yu’s body staggered to the ground, and the pocketknife in his hand fell to the ground. Goslee kicked the pocketknife away, then kicked Zhao Yu again. Mei Zhen called down and ran over. Zhao Yu leaned weakly against the jangling tube, his head drooping downward, a trace of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth.
Gao Shili was so angry and hateful that his pulse was beating unusually hard. He took one look and knew that the automobile had been made undriveable by Zhao Yu, and that both rear wheels had been pierced by Zhao Yu with a knife, and were resting there flat. The knife must have been hidden in Zhao Yu’s pants pocket.
Mei-Jin says to Gao Shi Li, “Stop hitting…” but Zhao Yu still takes a blow to the head. He groaned, but didn’t faint.
Gao Shi Li shouted loudly, “Are you fucking tired of living? You want me to send you to Hades now don’t you?” He raised his head and perceived some walking bright lights on the road behind him, through the trees. That must be the lights of the checkpoint cars on the highway.
Zhao Yu began to speak weakly, “You have no right…”
Coatsley growled, “I have no right to what? No right to break your bones?”
Zhao Yu mustered up enough courage to look at Mei-Jin and said, “You shouldn’t be dragging a girl around like…like this.”
When Zhao Yu said these words, a touching, caring look appeared on Mei Zhen’s face, which, although extremely brief, had been seen by Gao Shi Li.
Gao Shi Li didn’t dare to spend more time debating with him now; he pulled up Zhao Yu, kicked him, and pushed him toward the small house. At that moment, a red flash appeared in the light coming through from behind the messy wood. Gao Shili knew that it was the red warning light on top of the police car. He kicked Zhao Yu again, urging him to go quickly, and pulled Mei Zhen over, telling her to walk in front with Zhao Yu.
Gao Shi Li was gauging the time for the police car to come after him while urging, “Run quickly, run to the woods over there, run, Zhao Yu, or I’ll blow your head off with one shot!”
Zhao Yu gasped and called out, “But this way, I can only run until…”
“Run! Fuck!”
“You two hurry up. They’re about to catch up with us. Shit, come on!”
His voice suddenly became tired and hoarse, making him sound surprised at himself.
Ten,
The three men stumbled through the woods for an unknown length of time. At first, GaoShiLi seems to be do not feel tired as if, do not know where to come from a force of energy, make him insist to hurry, and urge his two companions to hurry. Later, Zhao Yu and Mei Zhen two energy is not continued, really can not walk, GaoShiLi can not help but agree to let them rest.
But as soon as he sat down, Gosseyn’s strength of a moment before went nowhere. His hands and feet seemed to be weighed down by hundreds of pounds, and he could not even open his eyelids, which he did his best to open, but closed again in less than a minute, and at last it was a burning pain in his breast that awoke him from his doze.
The three of them had sat down to rest in a small bowl-shaped clearing, surrounded by trees except for a stone wall on one side. Now that Gosley couldn’t sleep, he examined his two captives.
Zhao Yu was sitting, his head leaning back, his eyes closed, and his breathing slight, as if he was asleep. His face was covered with bruises and clotted blood. Only when Zhao Yu turned his body and yawned did Gao Shi Li shift his gaze back to Mei Zhen on his left.
Mei Zhen simply hadn’t slept; she just sat there, her eyes gazing lifelessly at her hands in her lap. She raised her head to look at Gao Shili, who avoided her gaze and turned to look at the tops of the trees above. There were five or six birds flying out of the cracks in the branches. By this time the cold atmosphere was diminishing and the morning sun had begun to shine in.
Gosley took the pack of moldy cigarettes out of his pouch and held one in the corner of his mouth before handing one to Mei Zhen. Mei Zhen shook her head. Goslee couldn’t guess what she was feeling, because he could hardly tell from her tired, irritated, and stained face.
Gao Shi Li handed Zhao Yu another cigarette. Now his hatred for Zhao Yu had diminished a bit, in order to focus on escaping for his life.
“Jo Yu, want a cigarette?” He asked.
“No.” Zhao Yu was still stubborn.
“Why? Don’t you smoke?”
“I smoked it, but I don’t want to right now. Is that okay?”
“Suit yourself, kid.”
Coatsley lights his cigarette, takes a drag, and says, “There are trees everywhere, and they all look the same. Now, we really don’t know where we are?”
Mei-Jin said, “It’s quiet all around, not a soul in sight.”
Gosseyn didn’t say any more, a sharp pain in his heart made him unable to speak. He reached into his shirt and rubbed his hand over his left breast.
Mijin looked at him and asked, “How did your face suddenly become pale…”
Gosley bit his lip, endured the pain and said, “Nothing, probably indigestion!”
He breathed hard for a while, barely pulling himself together, and continued with the words that were left unspoken earlier, “We need to find a place where we can hide. If they can’t find us even in a day or two, it’s possible to escape from here.”
Mijin’s eyes widened as she asked, “How are we going to survive without food?”
“I’d rather starve than live a fearful life in prison, and maybe someone will come and beat me to death that day.” After saying this, he noticed Zhao Yu’s look of surprise, so he added, “I was only joking. Can you think of any place to hide?”
“I know a place where you can hide. I found this cave just last summer, so well concealed that people can’t easily spot it even if they walk by its entrance.”
“How far is that place from here?”
“If my memory serves me well, it’s about three or four miles or so.”
“You said earlier that we could safely hide in this cave, didn’t you?”
“Yes, they’ll have a hard time finding you if you’re hiding there.”
“You haven’t forgotten anything?”
“No, I haven’t forgotten.”
“You forget that I’m not the only one who has to hide in a cave, but you, and her.” Goslee laughed a little and said, “People here are so naive. Are you hoping that if you reveal the location of that cave, I’ll let you go?” He looked at Zhao Yu after he finished speaking and laughed again.
“Yes? Zhao Yu!”
“I thought…”
Gosley flashed the revolver in his hand and said, “You’re in no position to bargain with me at all!”
“I thought I could try…”
“No, you’re wrong.”
“I’m willing to stay with you, you can take me as a hostage, but…”
“But what?”
“You should let her go.”
Mi-jin looked at Jo Yu in surprise, and Jo Yu avoided her gaze. His face somehow reddened.
Gosley thought hard. Not bad, he thought, I should probably heed this offer. However, he still wanted to toy with Zhao Yu. He said, “You seem to be very concerned about Ms. Wu’s safety, don’t you? Zhao Yu!”
“You could say that.”
“Is there any particular reason why you care about her so much?”
“Nothing, but I don’t think it’s right for you to hold her back like that. It’s not like you knew it would go there?” Zhao Yu finished, and in her heart, she regretted saying the latter sentence.
“So, you don’t think we have the discernment to walk out?”
“I’m not saying for sure, if a cop is tracking you…”
“They’re after me. But no matter what, I’ll get out eventually. Do you know what my nickname is? They call me ‘The Professional Killer’.”
Zhao Yu frowned for a moment and gave a non-committal “hmm”.
Coatsley said, “Let’s get back to your concern for the lady!”
Mei-Jin suddenly spoke up, “Gao Shi Li, don’t torture him.”
“Who’s torturing him? I’m just asking him what he said.”
Mei Zhen said, “You’re asking questions there? Look at how ugly you look yourself…”
“Screw the blush. I just have to ask this wise gentleman how I ended up in this situation. How did I end up in a place like this, being chased by the police?”
“I don’t know.”
“You think I’m playing games? You think she’s my girlfriend and I brought her here to have a picnic and talk about love, don’t you?”
Exasperated, annoyed and confused, Zhao Yu asked back, “What do you mean by that? Besides, I know she’s not your girlfriend.”
Suppressing his anger and the pain in his chest, Gosseyn said, “So you’re trying to be a protector and fight, are you?”
“I told you, I just don’t think you should be dragging her around and risking her getting killed.”
“What a protective hero. You think by doing that, she’ll be nice to you later, don’t you?”
Mei-Jin screamed, “Gosling!”
“Do you think this young lady will be grateful enough to talk to you about love and warmth?”
Zhao Yu stood up and cursed loudly, “You filthy…”
Gosley raised his pistol at just as he rose and swept the handle of the gun across Zhao Yu’s face, after which he beat him several times in quick succession until he had knocked Zhao Yu to the ground. Then Gosley leaned over and said to Zhao Yu, “Seriously, kid, that was worth it. I’ve been there, I know.”
Zhao Yu looked at Mei Zhen in disbelief. The expression on Mei Zhen’s face was unnatural, as if she had to admit that Gao Shi Li was telling the truth on one hand, but on the other hand, she wanted to give an explanation.
Gosley leaned his body against a tree and rested for a while, and when his heartache had subsided a little, he pointed his pistol at Zhao Yu and said, “All right, now take us to that cave.”
Zhao Yu held back the pain and asked, “Yes, but what about what I just proposed?”
“Kid aren’t you afraid I’ll beat you to death?”
“I’m…afraid to be afraid…”
“But you still want to bargain?”
“Yes, I think that’s what I should do.”
“Good thing too. You can talk after you take us to the cave first.”
Zhao Yu was still uneasy and asked, “If you back out…”
“Move. Would you rather go to the cave first, or take one of my bullets?”
Zhao Yu hesitated for a while and finally agreed to lead the way to the cave. Not long after they walked, Gao Shi Li heard the sound of someone walking behind the woods.
Mei-Jin said to him, “Goslee…we won’t get far like this.”
“We have to go as far as we can.”
“Wouldn’t it be easier if we stopped? …They’ll protect you if you turn yourself in…”
Gosley laughed out brightly and said, “Don’t say anything stupid, you go quickly, you go with that country boy.”
“Just listen to me and get my reasoning straight…”
“Come on, don’t provoke me to thigh gas.”
Mei Zhen only stopped talking and caught up with Zhao Yu in front of him, and Gao Shi Li’s heart felt another sharp pain, more painful than before. He realized in his heart that if he killed both Zhao Yu and Mei Zhen, it would be beneficial to his own escape. However, as he thought this, the hand holding the gun shook.
It was only then that he realized that the decisiveness and perseverance he used to pride himself on was now gone. It was over, the professional killer…
Gosseyn waved his pistol and ran after Zhao Yu and Mei-Jin, who indulged in laughter for no reason at all.
Time was no longer so important to Gosseyn. They had been running through the woods for so many miles that they had long been exhausted. The heat of the sun, steaming through the woods, caused a hot puff of smoke to rise from the ground. Gao Shili took off his coat and held it in his hand, only to realize later that the long coat had dragged a trail on the road.
He felt hot and thirsty and struggled to move. In his eyes, the woods around him turned a fuzzy green color, and his body was also hot. At first, he attributed these phenomena to the weather being too hot, but, then he saw that Mei Zhen and Zhao Yu were not different from each other except for their fatigue, and that’s when he realized that he was suffering from a high fever.
Gao Shi Li was tired, hot and thirsty, and his heartache was getting more and more intense. Just as he was about to lose his strength, a wide stream appeared in front of him. It was a very shallow stream, separated from the trees by a mud bank four feet away, but the water was very clear. Gao Shili leaned on the trunk of a tree and asked Zhao Yu how far it was to the cave. Zhao Yu replied that it would not be more than half way. Gao Shili then ordered them to walk down the stream.
At that moment, the sound of tree branches breaking and people shouting came from behind, and Gao Shi Li knew that the police who came to chase him, together with some temporary armed township teams, would always be more than a hundred people. The situation seemed to be gradually unfavorable to him. However, he could not resist the attraction of the cool, crystalline stream, and his nose even smelled the fresh scent of the stream.
He first ordered the two to go down, then squatted down himself, furiously pulling out water with his hands and drinking sip after sip. Zhao Yu listened sideways for a moment, then bent down to drink water as well, and Mei Zhen followed suit.
While this was going on, a helicopter flew in and swept low over the treetops. Goslee and the three of them were in the creek with no cover over their heads. The helicopter approached their heads, turned sideways, and Goslee saw the man on board pointing his hand out at them. Then the helicopter rose again and flew behind the trees, presumably to make a report.
Gao Shili raised his pistol high, pointing at the sky, opening his mouth to protect the curse roar for a while. Then look at Zhao Yu, but the vision can not focus, at this time in front of his eyes Zhao Yu unexpectedly turned into two figures, after a while before merging into one.
His thirst had prevented him from even hearing the helicopters, and now they had definitely been spotted. But what was that worth? Listening to the sounds coming from the woods, it seemed that the searchers, too, had come close.
Gao Shi Li’s anger sued to rise again, and he suddenly blamed Zhao Yu, believing that he was the one who tired them to be discovered. “Damn, when I kill this kid…” at that moment, out of the corner of his eye, he saw another figure moving about. Immediately, he turned around and saw that right under the tree by the stream, a police officer was raising his pistol.
Gosley aimed his revolver well and fired in unison at the same time as the cop. The rumble of the two shots shook the woods. The cop fell to the ground, his legs twitching for a while, dead, blood coming out of his face, staining a piece of sand, Gao Shi Li shot him in the center of his eyebrow. Gao Shi Li smiled with satisfaction, damn, who told him to dare to move on the head of too many years old?
However, when he turned around to tell Zhao Yu and Mei Zhen to keep running, he couldn’t help but freeze. Zhao Yu was kneeling beside Mei Zhen. Mei Zhen’s body was half lying in the water. Gao Shi Li hurriedly waded forward, and he saw that on Mei Zhen’s sweatshirt, there was a small piece of crimson red color. Her face was pale, her eyes were tightly closed, and she was breathing lightly. He examined the area where she had been hit by the gunshot was the lower right rib cage.
Zhao Yu stood up and looked at Gao Shi Li with hatred in his eyes. Mei Zhen opened her eyes, bit her lip, and moaned in a low voice.
Coatsley asked, “Did the cop shoot her?”
Jo Yu’s voice shook a little, “I guess so.”
Gosley listened quietly for a moment, then said, “They’re coming, let’s go.”
Zhao Yu shouted, “You fool, you creator!”
Gosley said threateningly, “You want to find death, don’t you? I’m telling you, I’ll never stand here and tie my hands, you pick her up, we’re going to run into the cave. Hurry!”
Although Gosley raised his pistol again in a gesture to hit, Zhao Yu remained unmoved.
Coatsley growled, “We don’t have time…”
“We can still have ten minutes.”
“How do you know?”
“I’ve worked here and I can tell from experience how far away the source of the sound is.”
“But how could that fucking cop…”
“Maybe he came alone first. Anyway, I’d say ten minutes.”
“Even if it’s ten minutes, we have to run fast.”
Zhao Yu pointed at Mijin and said, “We can’t move her.”
“But we can’t keep her here, boy. Shit, not yet…”
“Why won’t you face reality?”
“Face what reality?”
“If we take her with us, you can’t escape.”
“We can, we have to.”
“You always say that, but look, we ran so far ahead of them and they still caught up.”
“Pick her up.”
“No, we can’t move her.”
“Jo Yu, I said to pick her up.”
“Are you going to get her killed?”
“She’s not hurt like that, is she?” Gosling’s reply softened.
As if Zhao Yu knew that he held the trump card in his hand, he forced Gao Shi Li to say, “Are you a doctor? How do you know the danger? Let me ask you, do you want her to die?”
“I…I…” said Gosseyn, looking at Mei-Jin, who had now reluctantly moved her body out of the stream and was lying on the edge of it. Her mud-stained face was full of pain.
She didn’t look like a college coed anymore, nor did she look like a mature woman. Gosseyn gazed at her, and a flood of memories about Mei-Jin came to his mind. He knew that it was all coming to an end now.
Gosley listens to the sounds from behind the trees, there is no significant increase, Zhao Yu may be right, it seems they are still some distance away. He looked across the woods again, planning his escape route. After a moment’s thought, Goslee said, “All right.”
Zhao Yuzhang: “What’s good, right?”
“You stay here with her. You…stay here with her and find a doctor for her.”
Zhao Yu narrowed her eyes and asked, “What are your conditions?”
Gosley smiled weakly and said, “You’re smart, you think I’d turn myself in? You’re just stupid.”
“So what are your terms?”
“I need to know where that cave is. You tell me and I’ll let you stay.”
Jo Yu kept nodding her head and said, “Of course, of course I’ll tell you.”
Gosling said, “You can tell the truth.” He knew the words were redundant.
Jo Yu quickly told him the way to the cave. Suddenly, Mi-jin made a weak gesture, and Jo Yu leaned down to support her shoulders with her hands while helping her raise her head.
Mei Zhen’s mouth, tugged for a while before she labored out a few words, “They…when they come…tell them…”
Coatsley asked, “Tell them what?”
“Tell them the…the…false direction you…you took…”
“Do you mean to detach them elsewhere?”
Mijin nodded. Her eyes told him she was sincere.
Zhao Yu said enthusiastically, “Yes, we can do that.” Now that the threat to his life has been removed, his face has been filled with hope.
Gosseyn looked at Mei-Jin and said, “Why are you doing this? It’s not like it’s good for you.”
Mijin’s weak voice was just enough for him to hear, “You…you know why I am.”
Goslee added to Zhao Yu, “Do you think I’m stupid?”
Zhao Yu said, “No, I’m sincere.”
Gao Shi Li knew that he had no other way to go but to trust him. He turned back to Mei Zhen, barely managing to put on a tired smile for her, and said, “All right, little ninny, I’ll take your word for it. I probably won’t see you again, so I’ll bid you farewell now!” He added to Zhao Yu, “Goodbye, Zhao Yu.”
He turned sharply, waded across the creek, and made for the opposite bank, determined not to look back at them again. Gosley’s coat, as he waded through the watery stream, dragged half wet. When he reached the trailhead pointed out by Zhao Yu, he threw his coat to the ground in order to lead the trackers down a wrong path.
He didn’t know if he could trust Jo Yu. But he trusted Mi-jin, there was no doubt about it. Because there was no one he could trust other than Mei Zhen’s trustworthiness. But Zhao Yu was different; hadn’t he once beaten him without mercy? The reason Jo Yu had promised him was after he had agreed to let the two of them stay. But was he afraid of death if he was willing to agree to this? Neither. He knew full well that Gao Shi Li would not kill him.
Gosley followed the route Zhao Yu had told him to walk. He had already taken off his suit again and held it in his hand. After walking for a short while, a triangular pile of rocks appeared in front of him. He smiled, not bad, Zhao Yu really wasn’t lying.
He followed and turned to another path, burrowing for some time through the thick undergrowth, and came to the front of a high crag. Tilting his head up, he saw that, not far away, there was indeed a black hole about a yard square. He climbed up the rock wall with his hands and feet, at this time, his chest pain again, he could not care so much, he must climb into the cave. He never thought that there, is where he was buried.
Eleven,
Twenty days later, Mei Zhen had fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital. She accepted the advice of her father, Wu Dawei, and transferred to another school to continue completing her unfinished studies. And Zhao Yu also returned to his home. Only the police did not find Gao Shi Li.
He disappeared? He didn’t fulfill the deal Ma Guihua entrusted to him. The news has been making a lot of noise.
About another ten days or so passed when a group of young men traveling through here, they likewise passed the creek, which was the very route by which Gosley had fled with Mei-Jin and Zhao Yu thirty days before, and where Mei-Jin had been shot. When they were a child, the young men overheard a skeleton lying in a certain cave that no longer had a fleshly body. After getting out of the mountains, they instantly report the incident to the police.
The next day, the same “skeleton on a barren hill” story appeared in all the major newspapers, but it didn’t say who the dead man was. Obviously, the police were unable to confirm anything. But from the pistol and clothes left behind by the deceased, I’m afraid only Zhao Yu and Mei Zhen know the answer, but this answer to Gao Shi Li, no longer important.
