Sixteen years ago, a cab driver, Mr. Lim Hock Un, dismembered several women and raped their corpses in a series of horrific acts! We are now disclosing the information from the archives of that time… The process was intense and frightening… If you are not comfortable with it, please stay away from it!
Rainy Night Butcher (A)
At 4:00 a.m. on February 3, 1982, the sky was drizzling and the night life in Tsim Sha Tsui had come to an end, but the neon signs of the stores around the Melody Hotel were still brilliantly lit, as if they were not dead set on their hope that the night tourists would stay for one more moment.
A train of night-shift cabs next to the Miramar Hotel waits for the exhausted travelers to call their cars home.
The rain hit the front glass of the dirt, and the droplets of water reflected the crimson neon glow, like drops of blood, dripping onto the glass.
The “water dial” in the car, for example, is like a murderer who destroys corpses, not waiting for people to see clearly, has already put these “drops of blood”.
Wipe it away quickly.
Chan Fung Lan, a 27-year-old Tai Wah Ballroom Tai Pan, was out at a nightclub at Carnarvon Road and Kimberly Road at this time.
Chan Fung-lan, who has been in the entertainment industry since she was a teenager, had a really good time with her two “sisters” tonight, but how many happy days are there in life? Who can predict what will happen in the future? Anyway, now there are rich customers to support the venue, and there is enough money to drink the famous wine as water, the ugly reality of laughing at the poor but not laughing at the prostitutes, do not you know this many years?
Stepping upside down and upside down, the three of them sometimes laughed loudly, sometimes embraced in a ball, but no one paid much attention to them, because in this drunken area, when it was about to be dawn, the three heavily made-up women were stepping drunkenly in the street, laughing with each other, and everyone knew what kind of people they were.
Drunk to the point of sobriety, Chan Fung Lan told her two sisters, who were almost as drunk as she was, that she didn’t need them to see her off, as she could find a cab next to the Miramar Hotel to go home, and that she would just stagger on her own way, a way that would lead her to her death.
Despite her drunkenness, Chan Fung Lan did not make a mistake in taking the road she was used to in the early hours of the morning, except that when she arrived at the cab queue next to the Miramar Hotel, the three cab drivers refused to take the passenger because no one knew whether she was so drunk as soon as she boarded the car that she couldn’t tell where she was going, and even if she could, no one dared to guarantee that she would know how to pay for the bill and get out of the car when she arrived.
There are always exceptions to the rule, and although the first three cabs in the queue refused to take her, the fourth, a taxi driver, let her open the door and sit down next to the driver’s seat.
Chan Fung Lan could tell where she was going, but no one knew why she told the driver to drive to Kwun Tong when her home was in Yau Ma Tei.
However, the driver ignored this much and quickly turned the car towards Kwun Tong in the rain.
Hong Kong began to mouth more than a hundred years, the most sensational “rainy night butchery”, the prologue is so unveiled, Chan Fung Lan became the first victim, twenty-eight year old Toastmasters machine Lin over the clouds also after this time, found himself addicted to murder.
When Lam drove Chan Fung-lan to a roundabout in Kwun Tong, Chan Fung-lan was suddenly overcome by alcohol, she instinctively sat up straight and stuck her head out of the car, vomiting profusely. Lam was too busy to pull her back into the car and asked her where she wanted to go in Kwun Tong.
Chen Fenglan, who smelled of alcohol, at this time even asked Lin over the clouds to send her to Niuchi Bay.
With such a drunken passenger, what else can a cab driver do, take her to the police station? What else can a taxi driver do with such a drunken passenger? I have no choice but to drive her to Ngau Chi Wan and see what she will do.
When she arrived at the fire station in Ngau Chi Wan, Chan Fung Lan was pushed awake and asked where she was getting off. She opened her drunken eyes slightly and said in a daze that she was going back to Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.
This is really infuriating.
Without a word, Lin Overcloud silently drove forward along the quiet road, turning, rounding the corner, and then parked the car.
But this is not the brightly lit Tsim Sha Tsui, but the dark and silent roadside in front of No. 4M, Guizhou Chong, To Kwa Wan.
Chen Fenglan had no idea where she was, and along the way she only occasionally said a few vague drunken words that no one understood.
When the car stopped, she was still asleep and didn’t even know that Lin Overcloud had gotten out of the car.
Lin over the clouds, into the Anqing building, past the lighted management office, can not see the administrator, and the door of the electric brother open, he went in, pressed the button to the second floor, although he did not recognize the car Chen Fenglan, but in his heart she has an incomparable hatred, is it because of the Chen Fenglan chaotic point of lovebirds want him to drive the cab to the east to the west? Was it because Chen Fenglan’s vomiting made him sick? Even he is not sure.
The elevator stopped on the second floor, and he pulled out his lockpick and unlocked the front door of his home.
It was nearly five o’clock in the morning, and no one in the house, which was enjoying the deepest sleep before dawn, knew that he had returned; he fetched a strip of wire and closed the door of the house softly behind him, then took the elevator to the ground floor, and went back to the cab.
Chen Feng Lin did not wake up, she leaned her head on the car door glass, not at all alert, no one around the cab parking place also appeared Lin over the cloud’s eyes staring at the sleeping Chen Feng Lan, two hands in the wire ends around a circle, two hands pulled hard pull to try the brevity of the wire is enough to strangle this provoke him to have a nameless loathing of the woman.
He wanted to use a sharp knife to finish Chen Fenglan, but he thought that this method was too cruel and would stain the carriage, so he thought it would be ideal to use an electric wire.
Lin over Yun put the wire around Chen Fenglan’s neck, compared to the length, two eyes quickly to the front and back of the car a glance, no passers-by, so a fierce force, tighten that wire, pull Chen Feng while the body down.
In addition to fall instinctively move a little hands and feet, Chen Fenglan very this did not resist, really also drunk even the consciousness of resistance, followed by the body is soft, and then no sound.
Lin over the cloud to no longer breath Chen Fenglan half support half embrace, while the management office is not yet the shadow of a person, the body into the elevator, carried home to their own rooms.
He opened the door to his room and found that his brother, who slept in the upper compartment bed, had not yet awakened, and he gently put the body under his own bed to conceal it a little.
He wasn’t afraid that his brother would find out the secret because there had been an agreement not to touch each other’s things, and his brother had long honored that agreement.
He was even less afraid that his father, sister and brother-in-law, who lived with him, would know about it, as the rooms were separated from each other by a large hear, and they would not hear the commotion on this side of the room, and even more seldom come into his room.
Once everything was in order, Lin over Yun returned to his car and hurriedly drove it towards Mobil, handing it back to the day shift driver.
The day shift driver took the cab as usual, he didn’t find anything wrong, and didn’t notice anything strange from Lin over Yun’s face and speech, because he didn’t talk to people at all on weekdays.
As a matter of fact, Lin will not show any unusual behavior, because for what just happened, Lin did not have the slightest feeling of crime, and only removed the same thing that he hated, so he felt a little bit of pleasure in his heart.
After handing over the night watch, Lin returned home, the people in the house had just gotten up and had not yet gone out, but as usual, they did not pay special attention to him. After handing over the night watch, Lin returned home.
He went back to his room and lay down on his bed, closing his eyes and listening for movement outside his room.
A naked corpse at the mercy of the eyes presented, Lin over the clouds carefully scrutinized, calculating how to pose, so that you can use the camera to shoot such as foreign human body magazines of sexual organs shots.
Take out the camera, better position of the spotlight, Lin over the cloud arbitrary body limbs bent to create the ideal angle, encountered the hardened joints, the use of strong adhesive paper adhesive so that the body bent, in the shooting hard photos at the same time, but also shoot video.
I don’t know if it was excitement or panic, but he felt a little shaky in the hand that held the camera, but he ignored it and was snapping away to his heart’s content.
But to Earth’s regret, due to lack of experience, the spotlight was placed too close to the corpse’s thighs, burning the skin there and affecting the close-up of the pubic area.
After the photographs were taken, he was faced with the problem of what to do with the body, and he fumbled with the contents of Chen Fenglan’s handbag while trying to figure out what to do.
The handbag has a notepad, cosmetics, and five hundred dollars, he suddenly had an idea, took the five hundred dollars and stuffed it into his pocket, put the body on the doll, and took Chen Fenglan’s handbag and clothes and immediately walked to the street.
At the hardware store on the corner of the street, I bought a chainsaw for two hundred and ninety dollars, told the owner to replace the blade with a piece of young teeth, and immediately rushed home.
As for the clothes and handbags, they had been thrown away in the dumpster outside the Oriental Daily News not far from home before buying the chainsaw.
He laid old newspapers and unused papers from around the house on the floor, then placed the body on top of it, put the videotape on the moving camera, and plugged the chainsaw in to saw at the body.
Amidst the ear-splitting sharp sound of the chainsaw, crimson blood splattered out with scraps of flesh as the blade rolled and splattered on the boom.
The body, as if it had no bones, was quickly divided into seven parts, including the head, the hands, the feet, the upper ear body and the lower ear body. As for the breasts, he cut them off, but due to poor technique, he cut off the clitoris of one of them.
The seven parts of the body were wrapped in a large number of newspapers and plastic bags, because of the blood and meat scraps splattered all over the room, Lin Qiaoyun rushed to clean up everything before his family came back, as for the pair of breasts, he put them in a plastic box, temporarily using white wine as a preservative to soak it, and then put the box under the bed.
In the late afternoon, he picked up the car handed over by the day shift, drove home, and put the wrapped seven cut-up corpses in the rear trunk of the car.
After taking a few turns of passengers along the way, it occurred to him that he would have to dump the body where no one would find it before he could do so.
While driving while planning, he finally thought of the method of sinking the body to the bottom of the sea, so at seven o’clock, drive straight to the Sha Tin seafood boat near the seven bags of corpses thrown into the river at the city gate.
The Shatin Shing Mun River flows out of the Tai Po Sea, and as long as the river washes the body into the bottom of the sea, it will be difficult for anyone to find it in the vast ocean.
When things were done, the ground drove back to the city, resumed business, turned in his shift at dawn, and then went home to bed.
In the afternoon of February 4, Lin Qiaoyun woke up from his nap, he took the color film of Chen Fenglan’s body to a different location to develop the film, this company uses computers and machinery to develop the film, no manpower, which is not afraid of being exposed to this matter.
Nowadays, color prints are taken on the same day, but after taking the picture, the result is not satisfactory, probably because of the lack of experience, and the organs are attached to the corpse, it is difficult to make a better arrangement, plus the fruit with a knife to cut out the organs, the effect may be better, and decided to abandon the chainsaw, and use a scalpel, and learn the anatomy and the structure of the human body.
He didn’t know why he thought there would be a next time, it just made it fascinating and addictive like a drug.
A few days later, he took the chainsaw, which he had cleaned and left at home, to work with him, and as he was about to close the shift, he drove his car down Cherry Street in Tai Kok Tsui and threw the saw into the sea.
Instead of being washed out to sea, Chen Fenglan’s body was found by a group of Golden Gate Construction Company workers who found the skull on the 21st, a week after the body was sunk.
At 9:55 a.m. on that day, the workers took a floating bubble to the river to work on the bridge pontoon, found a similar human skull head, attached to the hair floating in the river, he picked it up, found that it was a real skull, and then rushed to the police.
Police arrived at the scene, began to look for the rest of the body along the Shing Mun River Basin, until five o’clock in the evening, in the shallows from the discovery of the human head of about 100 yards, police officers found a camera store’s large yellow plastic bag, opened, found to be a pair of legs cut off by the mouth, the police will be the head and legs taken away to the coffins.
This news became the day’s headline news, radio has been broadcast at noon, Lin over the cloud also heard, in order to further understand the details, he went out to work that day, the TV recorder better at 6:30 p.m. to record the TV station’s news reports, two of this videotape, which had been recorded Chen Fenglan’s nude body footage.
The police the next day again sent blue hat police officers and helicopters, along the Shing Mun River patrol search, the result at noon, in the Shing Mun River channel opposite the Regal Garden in Sha Tin, and then found a plastic bag, the plastic bag is a back flush cut off the arm, the left arm near the shoulder has a tattoo pattern, that is a blue knife, running through a red heart, the red heart next to a flying swallow.
The bag was found because part of the rope holding the bag had come loose and wrapped around a bridge pontoon, and the bag was half-floating, half-submerged, and the current couldn’t wash it out to sea.
The forensic officer of the police also confirmed at this time that the skull and the thighs belonged to the same person, and that there were no injuries to the skull and the legs, but the breaks had obviously been cut by a sharp instrument such as a chainsaw, and there were three false incisors in the mouth of the skull.
The coroner’s officer later reconfirmed that the tattooed arm also belonged to the same deceased.
The tattoo on this severed arm is a great help in tracing Chen Fenglan’s life.
When this new news was broadcasted on TV, Chan Fung Lan’s father, Chan Shek Shan, contacted the main public opinion police, who immediately arranged for the identification of the body, but initially failed to identify it.
To the next day (13th) Chen Shishan found Chen Fenglan’s husband, and then and their own sons and daughters again to the mortuary, the results of the body by virtue of the dentures on the denture, the right arm of the knife scar marks, tattoo patterns on the arm, affirmed that this is Chen Fenglan.
However, in the following two days, the police could not find the rest of the body, just when the police gave up the search, another cut of the body of Chan Fung Lan was found in a value site in Ma On Shan.
The day was February 15. At 1:30 p.m., two Korean workers at the site saw a dog scratching and sniffing at something on the seashore, and one of them went up to check it out and found that it was a human torso that had already seen the bones, so they chased away the dog and called the police immediately.
It is believed that the body was washed out of Tolo Harbour by the river and then washed to Ma On Shan.
Only six of the seven cuts of the body were found, and the buttock cut, which was never found, may have been washed out to sea by the sea.
The identity of the body was confirmed, but there were no clues to solve the case. The police initially suspected that it was a victim of the triad society’s “family law” to weed out rebels, or a victim of the international drug cartel’s struggle, but after investigating the case, they did not find any of these traces. The police also questioned Chen Fenglan’s relatives, friends and dancers, but again, nothing suspicious could be found.
Chen Shishan, the father of Chen Fenglan, then told the press that he believed his daughter had been murdered in a planned manner. He was saddened that his daughter, who left home at the age of twelve and had fallen into prostitution at the age of seventeen, had met such a tragic end.
Chen Fenglan’s sister later recalled that on the second night after her disappearance, she saw Chen Fenglan telling her in a dream that she wanted to buy seaweed to make soup to remove the fire from her bones.
His sister said that Fenglan’s bones were sunk at the bottom of the sea, which coincides with the “sea” of seaweed and the “bone” of the fire that removes bones.
However, all this does not help to solve the case, but only adds some helpful information for the public to talk about after tea.
And the busy life of Hong Kong people will soon wash things away, the broken body case only coaxed a few days, and then fell silent again.
On March 17, the police announced a reward of $25,000 for anyone who could help solve the case.
Rainy Night Butcher (B)
I don’t know whether it is because of the tight wind or not yet “addicted” to do it for the second time, followed by three to four months, Lin Zaiyun, as if nothing had happened, every day to go to work, get off work, and go to sleep.
However, he began to buy more and better photographic equipment, consulted books and models of human anatomy, bought two pairs of handcuffs, and hid electric cables and a sharp knife in a paper bag in his car, so as to be fully prepared for the second operation.
Lin has a special feeling about driving night-shift cabs, especially driving fast on rainy nights, because the rain gives him an inexplicable urge.
He also felt that he was chosen by the Father and that he should serve the Father, because the Father always surrounded him when he was alone.
Recalling the killing of Chen Fenglan, he found that he didn’t seem to hate her, and for that matter, he was still a bit scared, but when the time came to do it, he was a bit like he was in a dream, and felt that it was just the bad side of his spirit that was active.
No matter how contradictory his thoughts were, almost four months later, on May 29, 1982, thirty-one-year-old Chen Yunjie became the second person to be killed.
Chen Yunjie is a married woman, already has two children, in the half-month before the murder, she went to Yau Ma Tei Golden Happiness recreation center as a cashier to help make up for the family.
May 29 Si 5:00 am, she found after work is pouring rain, a colleague asked her to go to play sparrow, but she was anxious to go home to visit her two sons, so she did not agree, walking to the junction of Jordan Road and Wu Chung Street, intercepted the Lam over Yun Zhi soil, back to To Kwa Wan home.
When Lam Tso Wan drove to Chatham Road near the Cross Harbour Tunnel, he saw the pouring rain and darkness around him, so he stopped the car and pretended that there was something wrong with the car and he had to get off the car to take a look at it.
After checking the surrounding situation, he opened the door of the rear seat, leaned over to the driver’s seat sunshield, took the paper bag with the sharp knife hidden in it, drew out the sharp knife, pointed to scare Chen Yunjie, and then took out the hand clasp and asked Chen Yunjie to put it on.
Chen Yunjie also thought to meet robbers, in the isolation of the situation, she only bring their own hand buckle, to be able to see Lin over the cloud to the wire around her neck, everything is already too late, the sound of the rain drowned out her cries, the rain drenched the fire of her life out.
Lin over Yun drove the car back to the door of his home in Anqing Mansion, and seeing that the shifts were dozing off, he once again succeeded in transporting the body back to his home in the elevator, hid the body under the bed, and drove off to hand over the shifts.
When he got home, seeing that his family had gone out, Lin over Yun moved out Chen Yunjie’s body and stripped her of her blouse and underwear, pulling the long outer skirt up to her breasts for a close-up of her pussy, then her breasts.
After taking the hard photos, he positioned the camera for the first “autopsy” and started to videotape it.
Perhaps Chen Yunjie’s corpse’s bones had begun to harden, making it difficult to manipulate, and Lin over the clouds while forcefully flexing the corpse, said to the corpse, “Well that should lend a crooked.”
He cut off a pair of Chen Yunjie’s breasts, kidneys, rectum and ovaries, and when he was about to cut off the part of her pussy that was connected to her uterus, there was suddenly a knock on the door of the room.
When there was a knock on the door, it was so serious that he turned off the VCR and then shouted, “Who is it?”
The other side of the mouth to answer, Lin over the cloud heart began to slightly relaxed, the original is the youngest brother and young sister to find and his brother in the same room, he was two and so on, a little clean up a little bit, almost ten minutes, before the door to the room opened a crack, probing out of the younger siblings to leave, because the room only he alone, and told them not to knock on the door at random.
The younger siblings knew he was eccentric in nature and left without daring to ask more questions.
Lin took a sigh of relief and continued to cut off the part of the pussy and uterus carefully with a scalpel, placing the breasts into the plastic box where Chen Fenglan’s breasts were placed, and the kidneys, rectum, and ovaries were placed into a brown glass bottle soaked in white wine, and the pussy and uterus were placed into another white plastic box, which was also dipped in white wine to serve as an antiseptic.
Anatomy of the work is both laborious and laborious, delivery of the car after the whole day did not sleep, and then after a few hours of work, Lin over the cloud sat down to rest, calculating the body plus where to put it, throw down the Shing Mun River approach is no longer viable.
He closed his eyes and recuperated while remembering the places he had been to since driving the cab.
Suddenly he “Huo” stood up from the bed, under the bed to find a few days ago from the corner grocery store to buy back more than a dozen bags, and then find a batch of plastic bags, will be Chen Yunjie’s body wrapped in plastic bags, and then put into the bag tied into the bottom of the bed first.
After everything was done, Lin found that there seems to be a kind of blood odor left in the room, for the sake of prudence, he ran into the kitchen, took the floor cloth wet with stinky water, and went back to the room to wipe the floor clean.
When he had almost finished wiping the floor, his brother, who was in the same room, suddenly came back early from work and saw him wiping the floor and asked him what he was doing, but he simply said, “The ground is dirty, so I have to wipe it.”
His brother did not pursue the question, turned out of the hall soon, Lin over the cloud and to the company to get a car to start, he drove a few rounds of customers, followed by the car back to the Anqing Building, from the home will be placed in the sacks of the body to move down, put into the car house box.
Although other residents and passers-by were passing by at the time, they assumed that he was carrying ordinary miscellaneous objects and did not pay attention to him.
He drove the car to Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island, along the Tai Hang Road and drive, this noble residential area has been less people pass by on weekdays, this night is so quiet that there is no one and no car, he parked the car at a distance from the police station, the sacks thrown down to the lower slopes, a “rustle” sound, except for the insects chirping, everything is silent again.
Lin over the cloud that this is an ideal place to dump the body, he had driven through the place, found that the hillside is short sal jungle, overgrown grass, many people put the size of the garbage is to the bottom of the hillside a push even.
This section of the road Lin over the clouds is falling flag traffic, the meter shows a total of seventy-one yuan fare.
Falling flag line, to save the owner from suspicion, he made a mark on the more paper showing that the seventy-one dollars was forfeited.
For the use of white wine immersion human specimens, Lin Zaiyun always think it is not appropriate, so in the delivery of the shift, on the pretext of wanting to learn to make specimens, asked the day shift driver whether the white wine is available, the other side said that the application of preservatives, preservatives in the instrument line can be purchased.
After handing over the shift to go home, Lin over the clouds in the monthly calendar on May 29, the day next to write: (ACTION2NDDONG5:15.A.M), that is, the second action in the morning at five fifteen o’clock in the morning.
When he had finished writing, he remembered that he had forgotten to write it down during his first action, so he took the calendar back to the beginning of the year and added the following entry next to the fourth day of February.
I.E. SENDTOPRINTACTIONSERIES 5 UNIT will be infrared slides to be developed, the course of action has five paragraphs, and in the January 5 next to write: SE. RIOUSACTION6:20A.M. ACTION1ST. that is, important action at 6:20 a.m., the first action.
There was a four-month gap, so Lin over Yun misremembered and made up the entry next to the wrong day.
When something important happens, he makes a note of it on his monthly calendar, as a matter of habit.
He’s also a collector and likes to be organized, so everything is cataloged in a separate section for pornographic slides and photos.
After doing all this, Lam went to sleep and when he woke up, he took the photos of Chan Wan Kit to different companies for printing to distract people’s attention, and then bought antiseptic at an instrument shop on Lai Chi Kok Road before going home.
After he replaced the white wine with the embalming fluid, he found that the smell of that embalming fluid was very pungent, for fear that his family would smell it, the ground to the room camphor naugahyde cake crumbled, wine all over the room.
After a few days, his sister passed by his room, asked him why there is such a great smell of camphor in the room, he is not good at words, I do not know where to come from the urgent talent, said that it is because of the room more than a by.
In addition, Lin gave names to the two videotapes he already had on hand, the first of which was about Chen Fenglan and was named.
EASTOFEDEN.DAYFORNIGHT.SERIESSECRETS.
It’s “Swingers,” “Russians,” and a series of secrets. “Swingers” is the title of a 1960s movie starring James Bond.
for the name of a play directed by Duruflé.
As for the videotape of Chen Yunjie’s dismemberment.
TECHNOLOGYOFAIRCOND. REFEIC. i.e., the technology of air-conditioning and refrigerators, a name which may be related to his having been an apprentice in air-conditioning.
Chen Yunjie’s family of course reported her missing to the police, but with so many people missing in one day, it was difficult for the police to investigate them one by one, so they only sent Chen Yunjie’s photo to various newspapers and asked people who had seen her to report to the police.
In the months that followed, no one said that a body had been found on the slopes of Tai Hang Road, and there was no breakthrough in Chen Fenglan’s case, so Lin began to look for his third prey.
A month and a half after Chan Wan Kit was killed, that is, at 4:00 a.m. on June 17, 1982, when it was not raining, Leung Sau Wan, a 29-year-old nightclub hostess, became the third victim in the butchery case.
Leung Sau Wan, after leaving work at 4:00 a.m. on the same day, got into a cab belonging to Lam Tso Wan at the bus stop in front of Kam Hon Restaurant and wanted to return to her home at Tai Wing House, Tai Tung San Tsuen, Tai Kok Tsui.
Lin Overcloud drove without a word, while keeping an eye out for a suitable place to strike.
When the cab drove to Tong Mi Road, Lam Kau Wan, as in the case of Chan Wan Kit, took out a sharp knife from the driver’s seat of the sunshield, threatened Leung Sau Wan to put on a handcuff, and then strangled her to death with a wire, and then transported the body back to his home.
As there were two specimens of people hidden under the bed and more and more boxes and photographic equipment for pictures, he put Leung Sau Wan’s body into the hall under the sofa and sat on the sofa pretending to read the newspaper, and then dared to come out to take pictures and dismember the body after his family had gone out, and wrote June 17th on the calendar: “I am not sure what you mean by “I am not sure what you mean by “I am not sure what you mean by “I am not sure what you mean”.
ACTION3RD.
That is, the third operation.
For all the victims, whether they were beautiful or ugly, Lin had no interest in their faces, but only focused on their organs. Even though each victim had her whole body photographed, her face was covered with something, sometimes with adhesive tape to seal her eyes, and sometimes with books covering her face, which made it difficult for the police to distinguish the identity of the victims from the thousands of pictures taken afterwards.
Liang Xiuyun was photographed in colorful hard photos, there is a full body naked, but the eyes are sealed by transparent tape, in addition to the body dress was pulled up to shoot close-up shots of the pussy after the hard photos, followed by a video recording of the process of splitting the body, the tape is the unused portion of the Chan Fung Lan roll.
Liang Xiuyun’s body was first separated in two, and then the organs were cut out, and these organs included the pubic area and the breasts, and Lin Joyun put the breasts into the rubber box containing the breasts of Chen Fenglan and Chen Yunjie, and the pubic area was then placed in the same rubber box with Chen Yunjie’s.
As for Leung Sau Wan’s body, Lam also carried it in two sacks, and drove it to Tai Hang Road when he started to work, and dumped it on the hillside where the body was dumped last time. Lam thought that this was a good location, at least it would not be like the Shing Mun River in Shatin, where the body of Chan Fung Lan was found a week after it was dumped.
The “collection” Lin possessed at this time included three pairs of breasts, two pussies, a pair of nests, a uterus, a kidney, three videotapes of split bodies and thousands of pictures.
These “collectibles” are not only used for collection, according to police sources, Lin Zaiyun from time to time have to take these things out to enjoy.
If we think of the addiction to killing as a drug addiction, then taking out those organs to look at them when they are not killing is like a drug addict using methadone to “top off” his addiction.
After Liang Xiuyun, Lin Crossing carried out his fourth and most memorable operation after only half a month’s interval, and the victim was seventeen-year-old schoolgirl Liang Huixin.
Rainy Night Butcher (C)
From the time between the murders of Chan Fung Lan, Chan Wan Kit, Leung Sau Wan and Leung Wai Sum, we can see Lam Tsoi Wan’s “addiction”.
The time between the first victim and the second victim is almost three months, the second and third victims are one and a half months apart, and the third and fourth victims are only half a month apart. If Lin was not arrested, it is possible that someone will be killed every week, or even every few days in the future.
On July 2, 1982, at about 10:00 p.m., Leung Wai Sum had just finished attending a teacher appreciation banquet at the Sheraton Hotel Hok Hong, and left with two classmates. We talked about the banquet, as well as about our expectations of the HKCEE results and our plans for further studies and employment.
Whether the real future is full of difficulties and obstacles or not, it is full of beautiful visions for a middle school student.
Graduating from high school just marked her as an adult.
Two of Leung Wai Sum’s classmates parted ways with her at a subway station when it was drizzling.
Leung Wai Sum walks alone, she thinks about how the results of the examination will be, whether it will be enough to enable her to find a good job, her income, how much she should take home, so that her parents, who have a lot of money, can breathe a sigh of relief in their lives.
While she was walking and thinking, the rain was getting heavier and heavier, she didn’t take the rain gear, the rain hit her head, and she suddenly remembered that her mother had told her to go home early, and even gave her money to take a cab.
She walked to the outside of St. Andrew’s Church on Nathan Road and finally caught a cab number BR22X2, driven by Lim Kok Wan, the cab in which three women had been strangled to death.
After boarding the car, Liang Huixin drove Lin over the clouds toward the valley village home, and he dropped the flag to drive.
Everything was no different from her old days or anyone else’s cab rides.
Ten minutes after the cab had driven on, at the Princess Road flyover towards the submarine flint, Leung Wai Sum experienced, for the first and last time, the most thrilling thing she had ever felt in her life.
Lin over Yun took out the sharp knife at the sun flap on the driver’s seat and pointed to scare her sitting in the back seat to put on a pair of hand clasps herself.
It was raining outside the car, the car door glass was closed, Liang Huixin called heaven and earth, isolated, she was at this point, just afraid to let out a loud cry, can think of is to ask the other party not to touch her, she was afraid of lifelong happiness ruined, she was ashamed to be a victim of rape.
Only a young girl of such innocence would make such a request to the other party.
Lin Kao Yun promised her and kept his word, but that promise was only until Liang Hui Xin ended her life.
Leung Wai Sum was made to wear a hand clasp and had to sit next to the driver’s residence from the back seat.
Lin Cross Cloud then drove and headed for Cheung Sha Wan, taking Leung Wai Sum on the last journey of her life.
The cab passed through Cheung Sha Wan and drove to the Kwai Chung Cargo Refuse Station, circled around, and then stopped at a container truck stop in Kwai Chung as it headed for Kowloon.
Liang Huixin, seeing that the other party did not use any violence against her during this journey, her emotions settled down a little and she dared to answer the questions asked to her by Lin Cross Cloud.
Lin parked the car near Kwai Chung Road Bridge and talked with Leung Wai Sum for an hour. Lin dumped out the things in her handbag and asked the purpose of these items one by one. Most of these items were gifts given by her classmates to congratulate Leung Wai Sum on her graduation. The student who gave her this gift could never have imagined that the “future” would be a horrible death and a brutal mutilation of her body.
Later, when Lam saw someone passing by, he drove the cab to stop in front of a petrol station on Lung Cheung Road and continued to talk to Leung Wai Sum about school, future, family, religion, soul and the future.
Lam Kau Wan told Leung Wai Sum that his so-called future meant the end of the world. He was chosen by the Heavenly Father and the world was garbage, and said that he had been in contact with the Heavenly Father for some time.
At that time, there were people passing by, but no one suspected that this man and woman would be the defendant and the victim in the most sensational butchery case in Hong Kong in the past hundred years.
For Liang Huixin, it was the most frightening time of her life, but for Lin Joyun, it was probably the longest continuous conversation he had ever had with anyone in his life.
Therefore, among the four victims, Lin Chiu-yun was most impressed by Leung Wai-sum. He remembered Leung Wai-sum’s name and recognized Leung’s appearance from the newspaper, unlike when he killed Chen Yun-jie, he could only tell the police that it was a woman with the word Jie in her name.
Liang Huixin, after listening to the insights of Lin Crossing Yun about the end of the world, had asked Lin deduction to release her because her mother was waiting for her to go back at home, Lin Crossing Yun did not make a sound, and the conversation broke down with him.
And from about ten o’clock in the evening until about three o’clock in the morning of the following day, Liang Huixin was so tired that she had fallen asleep on the seat of the car in the midst of fear, and Lin Joyun was so tired that she had dozed off as well.
However, a longer, more in-depth conversation did not save Leung Wai Sum from the clutches of death.
At five o’clock in the morning, Lin Joyun first woke up, he saw the sleeping Liang Huixin, remembered his purpose of driving her here, and suddenly pounced on her, strangled Liang Huixin, who had spent the whole night in fear, but was totally unsuspecting at this time.
As usual, he rushed his prey home before dawn, put it in the hall to comb it down, and then sat down and pretended to read the newspaper, and when the people of the house had gone out, he stripped the clothes from the body, dismembered it and collected the parts that the ground liked.
Except for the time when he strangled Leung Wai Sum with an electric wire, Lam kept his promise and did not touch Leung Wai Sum, but when he stripped Leung Wai Sum’s corpse of all her clothes in the room, he raped the corpse and videotaped the process, and added a name to the videotape, calling it the “Fourth Operation”, which was also written on the July 3 calendar. It was also written on the July 3rd calendar.
He was not sure why he raped the body, he was just curious to know what it felt like to have sex with a woman, he did not feel that there was anything wrong with the practice, but since there was nothing special about it, he would not try it again.
However, that intense curiosity about the female lower body was not slightly diminished by the murder of the four men.
Lin Qiaoyun admitted that he had tasted the intestines of one of the dead; he couldn’t remember whose it was, only that he didn’t think it had any flavor, so he didn’t chew it or swallow it.
The killing of Liang Huixin and his dismemberment went as smoothly as in the past, and the body has never been found, but Lin Cross Cloud could not escape the fate of being detained and charged.
At the beginning, the police were at a loss as to how to investigate these cases, but by chance, they were able to crack four cases in a row, and because of the cruelty of the culprit, the police nicknamed him “The Butcher of Hong Kong”.
When the police arrested Lin over the cloud, solved four cases of women were crushed body, someone face to face police officers said: “If it is not because of the need to make the photos better, the police may not be able to solve the case for a lifetime.”
This statement may be an exaggeration, but to a certain extent, it is true because the police arrested LIN Qiaoyun on the basis of a tip-off provided by a manager of the Kodak Printing Company.
It is not the first time that Lam Tso Wan has had his color photos developed by a printing company in the market, but it has never been discovered. This may be because most of the printing companies are operated by machines, and no one has ever seen the meat of the photos, or someone may have seen them but did not report to the police for fear of trouble.
It is said that the police had complained to another printing company because Lam’s early photos were taken to them for printing, and if they had called the police earlier, the number of victims might have been reduced.
On February 11, 1982, the police began to find the broken body of Chen Fenglan, and after a month of investigation, no progress was made, so the only way was to adopt the method of taking advantage of the situation, by the police to hang red to find the murderer.
For cases with no leads, this can be the last resort for the police.
In the following six months, although the case did not make progress, although the period of Chen Yunjie, Liang Xiuyun and Liang Huixin’s family members are because of their disappearance of two reported, but they are only three of the thousands of missing from home, and there is no sign that they have to do with Chen Fenglan’s case.
From the mouth of the two women with Chen Fenglan night snacks, know that Chen Fenglan is to take a cab to leave, so also had called related to the cab driver to contact the police, but obviously, Lin over the cloud simply ignored this call .
For the police, the investigation has reached the stage of exhaustion, completely unexpected six months later will be dark.
On August 16, 1982, six months and five days after Chan Fung Lan’s body was found, the police received a telephone call from a manager of the Kodak Printing Service Company in Tsim Sha Tsui stating that he had developed a batch of photographs for a customer surnamed LAM, which consisted of close-ups of women’s breasts and private parts, and that the women’s faces in one batch of the photographs were covered by books, with obvious injuries to their necks.
The police immediately told the other side if someone to take a picture, to try to delay, and then sent officers to the store ambush waiting, agents the next day from 9:00 a.m., and waited until 6:55 p.m. the next night, Lam Tso Wan appeared to take a picture, the agents immediately appeared, identify themselves, Lam Tso Wan arrested.
Lam Chiu Wan was very calm, he said that he came to take the photographs for someone, and the owner of the property asked him to meet him at Guizhou Street, To Kwa Wan, at 8 p.m. That evening, the police immediately took him to Sze Kwa Wan and waited for him, but up to 10 p.m. no one was to be seen, and applied for a search warrant, and searched the Defendant’s home at 10:15 p.m.
The police found a large number of color photographs, slides, negatives and two white plastic boxes in an iron box in Lin’s room. The police officers moved the exhibits to the hall and opened the boxes in front of Lin’s father, brother, sister, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews, and found that they were women’s breasts and pussies, which Lin’s sister and brother-in-law were scared to see and were white with green lips, but Lin’s unloading was still calm.
The police later Lin over Yun, his father Lin Weile and his brother Lin Guoqiang brought back to the police station for investigation, Lin over Yun told the police at the police station, six months ago, met a middle-aged cab passenger Mr. Fong, Mr. Fong car talked to him about not finding a place to do studio, he told Mr. Fong that his Guizhou Street apartment can be used as a studio, and left his phone number, Mr. Fong has since been to his home seven times to take photographs, the first cordon of the first four times to give him a reward of a total of 10,000 yuan.
Whenever Mr. Fong came to his home for photography, he brought with him a large cardboard box measuring three feet by two feet by four feet, which Mr. Fong said contained spotlights.
The first time Mr. Fong came to his apartment to take photographs, he asked him to enter the room and assisted in spreading the thighs of a woman who could not move and was not bleeding, so that Mr. Fong could take pictures of the woman’s lower body; after taking the photographs, Mr. Fong took away everything he brought with him and left behind two rolls of negatives, which he asked him to take to the laboratory and called him to collect the photographs from the vicinity of his apartment a few days later.
Since then, Mr. Fong has borrowed his room as a studio every three weeks and handed over the negatives to the Defendant for developing, paying him $50 each time in addition to the development fee, and Mr. Fong has come to his home seven times to have his photographs taken, and he has met with two women successively.
As for those women’s organs, they were left behind by Mr. Fong after he had taken women’s organs in his apartment more than a month ago. At that time, he had helped Mr. Fong pick up the intestines of a woman whose abdomen had been cut open for Mr. Fong’s photographs, and then he took the negatives to be processed for tanning.
The women’s handbags, belts and shoes seized by the police at his home were also deposited by Mr. Fong.
In addition, a pair of handcuffs on his cab was purchased by him out of curiosity at a toy company called “Peter Pan” in Central.
The police naturally did not believe these confessions, and Lam Tso-yun was not cooperative with the police at the beginning; when the police asked him for a statement, he would often put his head in his hands and look at the sky and the ground, and he would consider for a long time before replying to questions relating to his family background, the circumstances of the killings, and questions relating to “sex”, sometimes for as long as five minutes, while answering all other questions very quickly except for these ones.
While questioning LAM Tai-yun and searching through the files, the police forensic officers started to examine the videotapes, negatives and human organs seized from the LAM’s home.
The police found that Lam had been convicted of robbery with intent to injure and indecent assault before 1973, and that the victim was a woman. Subsequently, the charge of indecent assault was dismissed, but Lam was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment at a work release center in January, 1974, for robbery and assault.
From the video tapes, negatives and human organs, the forensic officers found that there was more than one victim. Senior Superintendent Fok Jisun of the Forensic Science Division discovered from a piece of one-to-one film that someone was playing with a woman’s private parts with his hand, and because it was a close-up shot, and because the cameraman had good skills, the fingerprints on the right hand ring finger and the fourth pair of hands were consistent, and the police believed that LAM Tso-yun was the culprit.
Because the victim is more than one person, the police suspect that there is an accomplice in the case, Lin’s father and Lin’s brother live in the same flat, Lin’s brother, Lin Guoqiang, even sleeps in the upper and lower compartments of a bunk bed with Lin, so there is a suspicion.
The police also rummage through some similar and unsolved cases to see if it is related to Lam Kok Wan, including February 1980, the police in Wong Tai Sin Tai Kan Wo Village footbridge at the bottom of a nylon bag found a nude body and a dog body, the deceased name Chan Wai Man, 15 years old, the head was hit by the violence, the police suspect that the death of a person who refused to rape and be killed, the male a nude body in June of the same year in the Ngau Chi Wan Village West garbage heap was found in the dead University of Hong Kong girls Chan Yuk Ling, also The victim was Chan Yuk Ling, a female student of the University of Hong Kong, who also died of a skull fracture.
Both cases remain unsolved.
As the police had grasped the evidence, they immediately brought Lam Kok-keung and his younger brother Lam Kok-keung to court, charging them with the murder of Leung Wai-sum, a 17-year-old girl, between July 2 and 17/20, 1982, and then arraigning the Lam family brothers at the San Po Kong Magistracy on August 20, before continuing to collect more evidence to bring more charges.
As for Lam Wei-Lok, he was granted bail and released later, but he had been questioned by the police for 60 hours.
Rainy Night Butcher (D)
However, from the time of his arrest on August 17 to the 20th, Lam Tso Wan did not cooperate with the police for three days, and it was not until the 20th that there was some progress in the situation.
On that day, Lam was taken to a room for statement-taking, and on the table in the room there was a South China Morning Post with a photograph of Leung Wai-sum, and Lam wrote next to the picture that the photograph was the one on Leung Wai-sum’s identity card.
The officer who asked him for a statement immediately signed where he had written as part of the statement.
Later that day, things began to break down.
In the detention center, Lin met his father and brother, who were detained with him. His brother, who was about to get married, was very impulsive and told Lin to tell everything, but Lin said, “It’s none of your business.”
Lam Kwok Keung was furious, jumped forward and wrestled with him, Lam Kok Wan’s hand was also injured, Lam’s father immediately came forward to separate them, and told Lam Kok Wan to tell the truth to the police in a calm tone.
After this incident, Lin over Yun began to cooperate with the police and revealed that he had killed four women.
Three of them dumped their bodies on the hillside of Tai Hang Road and expressed their willingness to take the police there to look for the bodies, and there were no accomplices in the case, and no one in the family had any knowledge of the case.
Lin also recounted that he had raped a corpse, but that was limited to Liang Huixin, and the two murders in 1980 really had nothing to do with him, and when he gave his testimony, he appeared to be full of worry and concern.
Liang Bing, the sergeant who cross-examined his statement, although he felt that there were many doubts in the statement, for example, he did not believe that Lin Qiaoyun only raped a corpse, nor did he believe that Liang Huixin would doze off when she was threatened by Lin, but he could only record his statement according to Lin Qiaoyun’s words.
During the statement-taking process, LAM asked LEUNG Ping whether his photographs and human specimens would be destroyed. Bing replied that the photographs would not be destroyed and the human specimen might be preserved. Upon hearing this, Lam became cheerful.
He said his photographs were historic and he hoped they could be seen by people around the world.
Lam started to take the police to the hillside of Tai Hang Road to search for the body and pointed out that he had hidden Leung Wai Sum’s identity card, handbag, shoes and belt in his room, which he was going to send back to Leung Wai Sum’s family.
He said that when he killed Chen Fenglan, the heart of her incomparable hatred, lay hands on no sense of crime, and after this time, he felt addicted to this, the mind thought of doing it again.
Most of the three subsequent cases were committed on rainy nights, hence his claim to be the Rainy Night Killer.
His feelings towards Leung Wai-sum were a bit peculiar. Chief Inspector Stevenson of the Homicide Bureau, who had also taken a statement for LAM Tsoi-yun, said that he had seen LAM Tsoi-yun in tears once when he saw a photograph of Leung Wai-sum. In addition to this, LAM had requested in tears that the photographs he had taken of his niece not be presented to the court, and during the signing of the statement given at Lai Chi Kok Detention Centre, Sze Tak Kan had also seen LAM in tears.
Knowing the location of the abandoned body, the police started to search for the body at Tai Hang Road on August 22, accompanied by Lam Tso Wan.
The site of the abandoned body is located on the hillside between Bijie Hill and Tai Hang Road, behind Maryknoll College, where few people pass by in the daytime and cars only pass by by chance and do not stop.
The scene is overgrown with trees, and the area is vast, coupled with Lin over the cloud abandoned the body at night, after many months, even he can not remember the correct location, so from August 22, until the end of December, the search for the body of the end of the work.
Bodies after the sun and rain, the muscles have dissolved to stick to the plastic bags wrapped in the body, some are full of corpse worms, and Chen Yunjie’s skull, and fell out of the rotting sacks of sacks, was found in the park under the hillside.
All the bodies were completely unrecognizable and could only be identified by their family members on the basis of their dental beds and some distinguishing features of their bodies. The police forensic officers only relied on the breasts and pubic parts found in the home of LAM Tso-yun, which were combined with the decomposed bodies found on the hillside, to ascertain the identities of the deceased.
It was at this same place where the body was found that the murderer was described to the press as the Butcher of Hong Kong by Senior Inspector Sturgeon of the Homicide Investigation Unit.
The Lam brothers, who have been charged with the murder of Leung Wai Sum, were arraigned again on August 22, and Lam was charged with the murder of Chan Fung Lan, Chan Wan Kit and Leung Sau Wan, and both had to be admitted to the Siu Lam Psychiatric Center for observation.
On September 25, after further investigation, the police found that the cases had nothing to do with Lam Kwok Keung, so the Department of Justice ordered that no further charges be brought and Lam Kwok Keung Chak was released, while Lam Tso Wan waited until the end of October for the primary investigation.
Lin Kuoyun was originally named Lin Guoyu. His father, Lin Weile, and his mother, Zhang Jianping, were not registered as married and had been living together since 1952.
Soon after, Lam’s father left Hong Kong to make a living in Borneo, working as a machinery supervisor in a local oil company, and still returning to Hong Kong from time to time to see his wife.
In January of the following year, Mrs. Lin gave birth to her first child, who unfortunately died at the age of fourteen months.
When Lam’s father returned to Hong Kong for the first time, Lam’s mother became pregnant again and gave birth to Lam Tsoi Wan on March 22, 1955, while Lam’s father was still in Borneo.
In 1957, Lin’s mother gave birth to her third child, a girl with more delayed and pure qualifications.
At the end of that year, Lin’s father wrote to Lin’s mother to ask her to take her brother and daughter to Borneo in order to be appointed to the company’s dormitory, mentioning in the letter that he had met a woman there and was already living with her.
When Lin’s mother arrived, she found the woman with a big belly, although Lin’s father thought it was common for Chinese people to have concubines!
But Lin’s mother saw this scene, how could she be happy? Although Lin’s mother did not like this woman, but the rice has been cooked, but also can not do, and then fortunately with each other to get along with nothing.
The second wife of Lin’s father, on the other hand, treated Lin’s mother’s children as ordinary, not too good and not too bad, and in fact she gave birth to a child, Lin Guoqiang, a month after Lin’s mother arrived in Borneo.
As a result, Lin’s father lived in a unit of the company’s dormitory with his two wives and three children, totaling six persons, while Lin’s mother lived in a room with a pair of small children, and Lin’s father shared a room with his second wife.
Lin’s mother is certainly not happy to face such a situation, but Lin’s father does not allow her to return to Hong Kong, so she has no choice but to go against the grain.
At this time, Lin was only two years old, and this is where his non-stealing childhood began.
Once at dinner, two-year-old Lin Choyun was not allowed to sit at the same table with his family, so Lin’s father asked him to stand at the table and eat, but Lin Choyun just focused on eating, forgetting to say to his elders, “Eat your food.”
Lin’s father thought that this was a traditional Chinese family courtesy that must be observed. Immediately, Lin’s father shouted at him why he did not call for food, and a little later, LAM Choi-yun whispered, but Lin’s father did not think that he had shouted loudly enough, and even slapped LAM Choi-yun, who was slapped down and slammed his head against the wall, with one side of his face immediately turning red, and his eyes becoming bruised and black, with bruises that took a whole week to dissipate, and LAM’s father thought that he would have to be beaten up for not listening to his words.
However, Lin’s mother felt that he was still a child at that time, while Lin’s father was an adult and should not beat him like that.
However, Lin’s mother, a typical traditional Chinese woman, adopted a submissive attitude towards her husband, and even though she was heartbroken for her son, she didn’t dare to disagree in front of her husband.
Another time, Lin over the cloud woke up in the middle of the night crying, Lin father beat him, Lin mother to see their own flesh and blood so beaten, she used her hands to separate, but was beaten to the hand “blossom”.
When he was three years old, he was playing with his sister and dropped a key. When he could not find the key, his father slapped him with a heavy hand and asked him to kneel on the ground to admit his mistake, but even after he had admitted his mistake, his father punished him by twisting his hands around his ears and he knelt down for an hour.
Since this time, Lin over the cloud is very afraid of his father, do not dare to speak with his father, even look squarely at his father did not dare to look at him, he was only three years old, three years old fixed eighty, this situation until Lin over the cloud grew up are so, he will not take the initiative to speak with his father.
Lin’s father believed that small children should be strictly disciplined so that they could learn well. He treated his children equally, chastising and beating them when they disobeyed or did something wrong, which was teaching and caring, not chastisement, and the intention was for the good of the children.
Compared to what Lin’s grandfather had done to Lin’s father, Lin’s father had been much kinder.
However, Lin’s mother felt that Lin’s father in the text to beat the child, treating Lin over the cloud especially “heavy hand”, she saw his flesh and blood by such a straight punishment, a little too much, and sometimes want to help his son, such as someone who interrupts will also be beaten, but it is difficult to protect themselves, only silence, the tears into the belly to swallow.
Lin’s father was also dissatisfied with Lin’s mother’s “spoiling” and “favoritism” towards Lin Qiaoyun, although he felt that “loving mothers often fail their children”, and did not object to Lin’s mother’s attitude towards her son’s discipline in order to prevent the family from being noisy and the house from closing down.
Lin Kao-Yun lived in this typical strict father and mother family, and even when he grew up to be an adult, he rarely talked to his father, and he was especially kind to his mother.
Lam’s mother stayed in Borneo for a total of five years, and in 1959, she gave birth to another girl, and the four of them still lived in the same room. In addition to the first child born to Lam’s father’s second wife in 1957, she gave birth to two other children in 1959 and 1960, respectively.
In the meantime, Lin Chiao-Yun attended kindergarten and elementary school in Borneo, where his grades were mediocre. He once tried to talk to the neighboring children through a silk screen, but his father later forbade him to interact with them because he was afraid that he would learn to be bad.
Lin’s father said, “We already have so many children at home, so he can play with his siblings.”
In this way, Lin Overcloud lost the first friend who might have brought him out of his lonely inner world.
In 1962, Mr. Lam’s father left the oil company and returned to Hong Kong with his wife, children, bonus and savings.
In 1964, he bought a flat in Kwun Tong and lived there with his two wives and children, a total of eight people. During that time, he worked for a period of time in the CLP, and then sailed on a ship, and he had worked as a seafarer in the past. At that time, LAM Tsoi-yun was only seven years old and was studying in a government elementary school. But when Lin’s father came back from a voyage, he remembered the scene at Borneo, and for fear of being scolded by his father, he asked his classmate not to come to his home again.
Since then, no one had ever seen Lin Overcloud have a friend approach him, male or female.
At the age of eleven and a half (1966), Lin Chiao-Yun was promoted to Form One and enrolled in the morning class at Sham Shui Po (Tou-Bu) Limahan Secondary School. After he was promoted to secondary school, he was considered to be doing well in his schoolwork, and his grades in Forms One and Two were always within the tenth percentile, with the worst being only fifteenth percentile, but he was quiet in the school. He couldn’t even remember his teacher’s name.
When he was a teenager, he had a habit of sleepwalking, sometimes opening the door and going out to walk alone when he slept until midnight.
In his second year of secondary school, when he was about twelve or thirteen years old, Lin Chiao-Yun spied on his two half-sisters taking a bath, and was informed by Lin’s father’s second wife when she discovered the incident.
Lin’s father took him into his room, closed the door, broke and beat him, and slammed his head against the wall no less than dozens of times, but Lin did not cry because of this, he only came out of his father’s room “red-eyed”.
At the age of thirteen or fourteen (68, 69), perhaps “hope for the son of a dragon” relationship, Lin’s father, in addition to wanting Lin to return to the morning classes, but also want him to use the evening hours (7:30-9:30 p.m.), to the Polytechnic Institute to study some of the courses.
In 1970, Lam’s father stopped working as a seafarer and started to run a motorcycle business in Kwun Tong. Lam’s father asked Lam to go to school every day from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to help out, and to do his homework at night when he came home from his studies in science and technology for supper, and as a result his grades began to fall.
Due to lack of sleep, they often doze off in the middle of the day, which naturally leads to scolding.
Since this year, Lin’s father did not come home intermittently, and soon Lin’s mother realized that Lin’s father had a third woman outside, and the two sides had a big fight on the phone, and Lin’s father told Lin’s mother not to pay attention to him so much, so Lin’s mother had to “bury her heart” and go out to work by herself to maintain the family’s livelihood.
During this period, Lam’s father occasionally called home to inquire about his children. Later, Lam’s mother learned that Lam’s father had purchased a flat on Guizhou Street in To Kwa Ri and was living with his new love, and that this third wife had added two more children to Lam’s father.
In 1973, when his third wife fell ill, his father asked his second wife to take the two youngest children born to his third wife back to his home in Kwun Tong so that they could be taken care of, making a total of nine children living in the Kwun Tong home.
His father, on the other hand, went to his home in Kwun Tong every day to see his young children, and his second wife cooked for them.
At that time, Lin’s mother was not on good terms with her father’s second wife, and the latter had mistakenly accused her of keeping some of the household goods for her own use, so Lin’s four mothers cooked and ate separately.
In the summer of 1972, because of his poor academic performance in Form 4, Lin had to stay in the class, and just before the summer vacation that year, the shirt incident occurred, which became the turning point of Lin’s life.
One day, at home in Kwun Tong, Lam’s father saw that Lam had no clothes to wear to work, and insisted that he wear a red and flowery broad shirt, which he refused, and his father beat and scolded him, but he refused to wear it, so his father, in a fit of rage, hit the shirt onto Lam’s body, pushed him out of the door, and after closing the door, he shouted, “I told you to wear a shirt and didn’t, and you didn’t listen to me, you son of a bitch, and you won’t come back! Come back, go, go, go!”
Lin Overcloud really left, and he never went back.
That night, he called his mother, who was working a mid-shift at the factory, and asked her for the address of the factory, then went to the factory to look for her.
At first, Lam’s mother advised him to go home, but he refused to do so, so she had to arrange for him to live with a relative at Ma Tau Trap Road.
That person is a young man of more than 20 years of age, is Lin mother’s aunt’s niece’s brother-in-law, Lin over the clouds and his division to live in a room, share the rent, rent money paid by the mother of Lin.
A few months later, the relative got married and moved out, so Lin rented the room on his own. He stopped studying during the day and worked as an apprentice in an air-conditioning store. At night, he attended night school, but instead of repeating Form 4, he went on to Form 5.
In the summer of 1973, Lam failed the Form 5 examination in the night school, so he did not study any more and remained alone in a rented room, then became an air-conditioning apprentice.
One day, Lin’s mother received a phone call from Lin over Yun’s workplace, saying that he did not return to work, Lin’s mother could not find her son, and was busy going to the police, but after a few days there was no news.
In early November, when she was working in the factory, she received a phone call from the Xiaolan Psychiatric Hospital, and realized that Lin was arrested for committing a crime and was under observation in the Xiaolan Psychiatric Hospital, waiting to be arraigned.
At the time of his arrest, the name he reported to the police was Lam Yau Keung.
During this time Lin’s mother visited him every week and she asked him many times about the crime, but he never answered.
Mrs. Lam knows: “My son will not tell me what is going on in his head.”
Lin’s father had also visited him.
On January 16, 1974, Lam was charged in court with three counts, the first two of robbery and assault.
The charge was convicted and the third count of indecent assault (touching the female subject’s private parts) was withdrawn due to the prosecution’s failure to present evidence.
Lin Kao-yun was sentenced to four months in a hard labor center.
LAM KWOK YUEN left the work release center and gave up the name LAM KWOK YU, not to mention LAM YAU KEUNG, but officially LAM KWOK YUEN, and registered this name on the birth paper, at this time he still need to be supervised for a period of time, the police want LAM’s father to take him back to his home in Kwun Tong to be disciplined.
It was during this period that Lin’s father’s second wife realized that Lin was psychologically abnormal and curious about women’s private parts.
And at this time (May, ’74), Father Lin’s third wife died of cancer.
As a result, Lam’s father arranged for him and his younger brother Kwok Keung to move to an apartment on Guizhou Street in To Kwa Wan, while he was not allowed to live with his sister in an apartment in Kwun Tong.
┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅┅ The Butcher in the Rain is a rather valuable piece of specific and detailed social teaching material!
I would like to advise some of my friends who think they are righteous: (I can’t deny that you smell the smell, right? As if I know that I do not even go to the political forum) must know that we are also for justice and eroticism, we are down-to-earth social file submitted for reference and study, unlike you a slogan or two in response to want to set a dry spell! Furthermore, you guys are looking at us as too naive.
Not everyone here is a sex maniac, but at least they’re not political maniacs! Don’t flatter yourself!
The book has its own way of persuading the world, only that the political idiots are not qualified to realize it!
Rainy Night Butcher (E)
From ’74 to ’78, Mr. Lam and his brother worked for their father on a salaried basis. At first, their monthly salary was $600 to $700, but later it was raised to $1,200.
He does not have to pay rent, but only one hundred and fifty dollars a month for utilities for his residence.
During this period, Lam’s father realized that he had no friends, be they of the same sex or the opposite sex, and seldom had any “teeth fights” with his buddies, but only talked about the news with his younger brother from time to time, and when he returned home, he would close the door and hide in his room.
However, he likes to go out into the countryside on holidays to make sixteen-meter boxes of moving pictures, and has tried to show them to his younger siblings.
Lin’s father felt that his work performance was: “very hardworking, but rebellious.”
His younger brother was more obedient. At this time, Lam went back to his mother’s home in Kwun Tong from 12 noon to 2 p.m. every day to eat and rest, where he had a tiny storage room with books, old Chinese newspapers, and records, and where he ate alone, listened to records, or played with a model of a sailboat.
Sometimes he would lend books to his younger siblings to read, and when they asked him questions, he would only do so perfunctorily and never talk to them.
His father asked him to return to his home in To Kwa Wan every night to sleep, instead of spending the night at Kwun Tong.
Lam likes to drive his car around after work to get to know the streets because he wants to get a cab driver’s license.
In 1979, he finally passed the examination, which brought him to another stage in his life. He started to work as a night-shift cab driver from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the next morning, renting a car from Mei Foo Motors at Sunrise Street, To Kwa Wan, at a daily rental of $73. He did this for more than a month, and only after his work had been fixed did he inform his mother and father of his job, and his father did not object to it.
When the cab driver Lin over the cloud, every month to give 800 dollars to his mother, his mother advised him to save savings for marriage, but also should have a female friend, but the ground is not familiar with the mother said: “the side of the drive!”
Sometimes he would visit his mother in Kwun Tong before 7:00 a.m. after turning in for the night, stay for 10 minutes and then leave before going back to his place in To Kwa Wan to sleep.
The person concerned is of sufficiently sound mind to know what he is being charged with and to be able to defend himself against the charge.
The view of Hong Kong psychiatrists that LAM Tso-yun was not seriously mentally ill was not shared by the Australian expert, Dr. BANS, who pointed out in the Supreme Court on 21 March this year that LAM Tso-yun suffered from a serious mental illness of “depersonalization”, not schizophrenia, as claimed by Hong Kong psychiatrists.
A Lin over the cloud on the mental state of the fierce battle of tongues, this began, this argument, but also to decide Lin over the cloud is manslaughter or murder of the key.
On the first day of his trial, Justice Faber told the jury that the case, which involved the killing and dismemberment of four women, was primarily a matter of whether the defendants acted in a state of mind sufficient to control themselves.
Lam denied murder on the ground of “unsoundness of mind” and admitted only manslaughter, so the jury had to decide whether or not to accept Lam’s reasoning and, if so, to find manslaughter, otherwise murder.
Four Hong Kong psychiatrists observed Lam for a total of 39 hours and agreed that although Lam was mentally incompetent, he was not serious, and that at the time of the incident, he knew exactly what he was doing.
However, much of what Lam Tsoi-yun said when speaking to the Australian experts was not told to the Hong Kong doctors. Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions To Fai considered that Lam Tsoi-yun, who was already experienced in psychiatry after having contacted a number of psychiatrists, might be deceiving the Australian expert, Mr. Banshee.
A psychiatrist in Hong Kong conducted an IQ test for LAM Tso-yun and found that his IQ was 120, which was slightly higher than that of the average person, and he scored higher in thinking than in speech.
Since doing the cab division a few, it is even less to meet with Lin father, he is always in his room, three meals a day will not eat with the family, usually in the street outside the meal. And he and his brother are working as daytime truck drivers, time is different, even less together in the room, even if the towel on, he is also reading the newspaper, we do not have to talk to each other.
One year after Lam’s starvation as a cab driver, Lam’s mother realized that he had begun to change, and on the night of the New Year’s Eve in 1981, he did not even go to his mother’s home in Kwun Tong for the Lunar New Year’s Eve reunion dinner, and then he went to his mother’s home less and less often.
Between February and August last year, Lam’s mother noticed that Di’s demeanor was even more abnormal, and that she used to take a bath every time she went to Kwun Tong, and that her whole body had become tired and pale, and that she was dirty and hot, so Lam’s mother advised her to be cleaner.
He said, “You can wash your own pants.”
But the fact is that Lin’s mother still sees him in stained clothes.
What’s more, he acted strangely, hanging his head down when he walked, not daring to look at others, but only squinting, and his mother had once advised him, “A man should raise his head!” But when he raised his head a little, he turned around and walked away.
At that time, Lin’s mother was very worried about his physical and mental problems, and urged him to see a doctor, but he did not pay attention to it, and Lin’s mother had no choice. She could not have imagined that her beloved son, during this time, has become the protagonist of the sensational dismemberment case.
LAM Tso-yun, who was arrested in connection with the murder and dismemberment of four women, has been under the observation of two psychiatrists at the Siu Lam Psychiatric Hospital since September 3, 1982, for five weeks, and the doctors finally concluded that he was fit to plead his case in court.
The so-called fitness to plead means that, based on Lam Tsoi Wan’s work record and performance over the past few months, the government psychiatrist concluded that Di was not suffering from mental illness, but was merely a quiet, emotional and slow-reacting person who often avoided eye contact with others.
He killed and mutilated four women to satisfy his personal sexual needs.
Lam said he has had the feeling of being watched for the past six years, and he hears unknown voices when he sleeps at night.
He told the doctor that he did not like being interrogated in public and was more interested in knowing how he could avoid the death penalty.
Preferring to live in isolation and not easily getting along with others is not a mental illness, and it is very common in society.
Lin Overcloud’s mind was clear, and he tended to stop and think when answering certain questions to organize his answers, and he never spoke to the government’s experts about the gods, the rain, and the supernatural forces at work within his body.
LIN KAO-YUN kills CHEN FENG-LAN because he hates her aimlessness, one time asking him to drive to KUAN-TONG, one time going to NIU-CHI-WAN, and then going back to TST. When he kills CHEN YUN-CHIEH and LIANG XIU-YUN, it is because he feels that they are bad people and have a right to die, while there is no special reason for killing LIANG WEI-SHUN.
And he was thrilled when he learned that the police had found their bodies.
When he was in the detention center, Lin Qiaoyun felt that some women came to visit him, and sometimes he even fantasized that he was a female.
He likes driving night cabs because he feels free and transcendent, and if the ground gave up the job, he would be a beggar, a vagrant or a monk.
This behavior of Lin Overcloud was strange and his attitude unnatural, but it was not unusual for a lonely person.
Otherwise, he is not characterized as mentally incompetent, and there is a “sexual” component to his crimes.
However, Banshee, a psychologist from Australia, has almost completely debunked the prosecution’s argument.
Banshee was the last psychiatrist to contact Lam Tsoi Wan, and spoke with him for eight hours through an interpreter.
According to Banshee, Lin is mentally unsound and suffers from “depersonalization”, in which he feels that he is able to jump out of his body and observes his own behavior as a bystander.
LAM Choi-yun was at the peak of his illness from February to August last year, which was like a volcano erupting. At present, LAM’s mental state seems to have improved, but this “volcano” may explode again at any time.
Because Lin was not mentally sound when he was observed by the experts, he gave different answers to the same questions. If Lin was a normal person, this inconsistency in answers would be a lie.
He pointed out that LAM Tso-yun’s illness had a highly stable incubation period, coupled with the fact that when he was detained, he had contact with people from the outside world and his dysfunctional mental state began to relapse, so the psychiatrists of the Hong Kong Government did not detect that he was mentally ill.
It is very difficult to cure this disease and may not be cured in a lifetime.
Bains admitted that in his twenty-five years of professional experience, the dismemberment of a woman’s body was unique, and that he had referred to a number of books and there were no similar accounts.
Banshee said that over the past ten years, Lim had isolated himself more and more, cutting himself off from society completely.
His family is complicated, and he has lost the warmth and security of his family to his grim and stubborn father, so he deliberately isolates himself and does not make friends, which is reflected by his fondness for playing electronic chess. Although there is nothing abnormal in his physical development, Lin’s development in sexual matters is inappropriate, as he has never come into contact with women of the same age, and he hates those who engage in sexual intercourse with both men and women.
For the rape of the corpse, Lin Zaiyun think there is nothing wrong, he just want to use this to know how the sexual intercourse is, he raped the corpse when there is no sexual excitement, but only their own excitement to carry out the rape of the corpse.
He had also used his toes to tweak the pussies of the dead women, hoping to know what they felt, but in the end he found that he did not feel anything, and he had also tasted the intestines of the dead with his mouth to find out what they tasted like.
Lam said she had not tried masturbation, but had suffered from wet dreams.
On the one hand, he was afraid of rain, but on the other hand, he felt happy when it rained because he believed in the existence of God, and since the rain came down from the sky, he felt that through the rain, he could communicate with God and had an invisible influence to do something.
Lin said that he did not have a good relationship with his father, rarely talked to his siblings, did not like or dislike his two concubine mothers, and the only one he had any affection for was his biological mother.
In 1973, after being evicted from his home by his father, Lam Tso-yun was thrilled to see pornographic photographs for the first time.
He had attempted to fondle the woman’s private parts during a robbery in the women’s restroom, an interest he only knew he had, but could not remember when it had begun.
The main reason for Lin to photograph women’s lower bodies was not influenced by pornographic magazines, but out of intense curiosity.
He raped corpses and attempted to eat human intestines, all based on curiosity, and he videotaped the rapes and dismemberments, which shows that his mind was in a high state of turmoil at the time.
Mr. Bangs said: “Mr. Lam overturned the statement given to the police and said that when he killed Chan Fung Lan, he did not hate her and did not have any sexual fantasies about her. Although he knew physically that he was killing Chan Fung Lan, he thought it was his own fantasy, and that it was his own bad side that was active in his spirit, and he had felt very frightened after the killing.
He believes that people turn into animals when they die, and that the four murdered women will also turn into animals.
Lam said he once cut off part of Chen Fenglan’s lower body and threw it away because he thought the woman’s lower body was “ugly”.
When Banshee asked him where he had thrown the lower part, he smiled mysteriously at Banshee and said, “I will tell you when the case is over.”
Banshee said that he could tell from the expression on Lin over Yun’s face when he smiled that he was not in good spirits.
As for his fondness for taking photos and remaking pornographic magazines, Banshee believes that this is a character trait of Lin over Yun, who wants to store all of his photos in a very systematic way.
In addition, he photographed the female organs out of curiosity on the one hand, and to show his achievement in photography on the other, and he hopes to prove that these things do happen and let the whole world know about it through this photo.
The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. To Fai, did not agree with Mr. Bains. He considered that on the night of Leung Wai Sum’s accident, Mr. Lam picked her up from the car at about 11:00 p.m., but strangled her to death in the car at 5:00 a.m. on the following day, and then carried her back to her home.
Banshee said it was a possibility on this point, but he disagreed.
As for Lam, after committing the first case, he put wires in his car and purchased antiseptic potion, showing that he had made preparations.
Banshee, on the other hand, believes that Lin over Yun is a dysfunctional person, so the disease can influence to do these things.
The lawyer defending Lam Tso-yun also provided another Australian psychologist, Glynn, to testify to show that Lam Tso-yun was mentally unsound.
Glynn said Lin suffered from “schizophrenia” and was also “emotionally unattached” and “gender-neutral”.
He believes that according to the principles of psychiatry, anyone who commits the act of raping a corpse must be mentally and psychologically incompetent, and that Lin Qiaoyun is extremely abnormal, and that it would be unsafe to allow the ground to return to the community for free activities.
Glynn stated that he had never encountered a psychopath of the severity of Galin’s condition, that there were so many unusual features, and that he believed that the defendant was telling the truth.
Lam considered himself “unusual” and “special”.
Lam said: “I myself will die young, one is caused by an accident, the other is caused by disease.”
Lin said that what he had done in the past was by “Divine Providence”.
When he killed Chen Fenglan, he saw Chen vomiting and puking and thought that “women are evil”, and that God had chosen this woman to get into his car and instructed him to kill her, so he carried out this “special mission”.
When Lam killed Leung Wai Sum, he suddenly felt that Leung Wai Sum had become Chan Fung Lan, so he killed “her” again. When the body was dragged home, he suddenly felt a curiosity he had never felt before, so he raped the body.
Lin was more interested in photography than in sex, with a strong curiosity about women’s lower bodies and a “paranoia” about collecting favorite things, categorizing them, and carefully compiling them into records.
He said that he had seen the photographs and videotapes taken by Lam Tso-yun and considered that Lam Tso-yun was out of “curiosity” and that there was no element of “sexual desire”, nor did he think that he was acting like a person with a high libido, as he was extremely calm in his approach to photography.
Lin was happy when he took pictures of the corpse, because he had never been able to dominate a woman so freely.
However, he covered the faces of the dead when he took the photographs because he thought that the women were not dead and he covered their faces with books or adhesive paper for fear that they would recognize him.
Prosecuting psychiatrist Dr. Anderson said in court that Lam was not mentally ill, and that he was lucid when he committed the murders, with a higher degree of self-control than normal people. When the first killing was caused by anger, but the next three times, he felt that stealing fast and fun, in the shooting of the film, are able to act sober.
Anderson had a test for Lin Jianyun, put him in a similar murder situation, as if the hoop a woman, and then asked him, if someone told him to stop or stop him from continuing to do so, how would he deal with it? Lim said, “I would kill him too.” This proves that the earth is able to control its own behavior soberly.
Another thing that can show that Lam is sane and alert is that he can speak in a way that is understandable to the average person, and that his house is neatly organized, with all his crimes recorded, which is not something that a mentally ill person can do.
A mental patient may sometimes exhibit some kind of strange behavior, for example, if Lam says that he has been instructed by some “supernatural objects” to do something, he may listen attentively, kneel down, or even answer and react in other ways, but it seems that Lam’s family members have never seen Lam exhibit such abnormal behavior.
Although Lin Zaiyun is in a state of “extreme split personality” and his condition is quite serious, it is not the same as suffering from mental illness because he still has strong self-control and his behavior is not insane, such as running around in the street and talking nonsense.
A person affected by neurosis must live a perverse life, often with obvious movements that are noticed.
On the other hand, Lin over Yun’s self-control was better than average, as evidenced by the fact that he lived with each other for many years despite disliking his father.
Dr. Chan Ting-yeung, Director of Castle Peak Psychiatric Hospital, testified for the prosecution that after killing the three women, Lam Tso-yun had expressed his boredom with the killings and had a little regret for a few of the women because it was unfair to take away their lives and their secrets in this way, as well as guilt for not having made a proper burial for them.
In February of the same year, when the day of the trial was approaching, Lam Tsoi-yun looked a bit nervous and asked one of the doctors, “Can the public not be allowed to come to the court to listen to the trial? Because I don’t want people to imitate my style of killing.”
He also said that he takes photos and nude photos of women in magazines not because he is interested in sex, but because he finds nude photos artistically beautiful.
Lyn cries when issues such as her childhood and her mother are mentioned.
He cares more about his mother because she is the person closest to him in the family.
Lin had indicated that he might not see his mother again, meaning that she was old.
Chen Ting-Yang had taken a “memory test” for Lin Chiao-Yun and scored 102 points, which was normal.
Lam’s “intelligence test” was slightly higher than that of a normal person. X-rays were also used to examine Lam’s skull and electrodes were placed on the base of Lam’s skull to test whether there was any abnormality in Lam’s brain, but it was proved that Lam’s brain was normal.
The “Sleep Record” method was used to check on Lin Guoyun, and he was found to be equally normal.
In the five meetings with LAM Tsoi-yun, LAM behaved calmly and had normal emotional responses, “crying when he should have cried” and “laughing when he should have laughed”, which showed that he had appropriate emotional responses.
In addition, there was no bizarre behavior, Lin showed “logical thinking” when answering questions, as well as answering questions that were relevant and not off-topic, and also “talking in a coherent manner”.
Sometimes, Lin over Yun would hesitate a little when asked about questions related to having a crime, but would answer other questions with alacrity.
During the conversation with Lin, no illusions were detected and there was no disturbance of the mind. In the case of a mentally ill person, the speech may be “incoherent” at times and not as normal as that of Lam Tsoi Wan.
Butcher in the Rain (F, final)
Chen Ting Yang said that Lin over the cloud normal emotional response to normal brain, memory and intelligence slightly more than normal people, so Lin over the cloud is not a mental patient, otherwise, Lin over the cloud speech may be incoherent.
He argued that Lin was not mentally ill, but schizophrenic, and that Lin was “addicted” to killing and did it for sexual gratification.
Mr. Chan obtained his academic degree in psychiatry in the United States in 1959 and served in the Medical Department for 21 to 23 years after his return to Hong Kong. At that time, he took care of 3,000 patients in Castle Peak Mental Hospital, 90% of whom were mentally ill.
“Bifanjo life me!” The screams of the women, who admitted to killing four women and splitting their bodies, have been heard frequently over the past few months by Lam Tsoi Wan, who said he thought he had seen some Chinese women speaking Cantonese. He said he thought he often saw some Chinese women speaking Cantonese, and one of them always screamed, “Pipan’s life is mine!” This was true even when they were detained in Lai Chi Kok Detention Centre by Correctional Services Department officers awaiting interrogation.
According to the Correctional Services Department staff who had seen LAM in the Lai Chi Kok Detention Centre, they felt that LAM was a normal person and in no way made people feel that he was scary. Even after the Lunar New Year when it had been raining continuously for more than a month, LAM was not seen behaving in an unusual manner at night.
However, the prison cell may be a demarcation line in the course of Lam’s life, because according to his father, ten years ago Lam was sentenced to four months in a labor center for the crime of robbing and wounding people, and after he came out of the labor center, he showed a strong interest in women’s bodies, and peeping into his sister’s bath also happened after he was released from the prison. Ten years ago, Lam behaved how he behaved in prison, and now no one may remember, but ten years later, he was put into the Lai Chi Kok Detention Center again. But ten years later, when Lin was imprisoned again in Lai Chi Kok Detention Center, his behavior was a bit different from that of ordinary people.
“Freedom or death”, since the loss of freedom is painful, that is why the world has prisons to punish those who have committed crimes.
Soon after the establishment of the prison, it was regarded as a haunted place on earth, and those who were imprisoned in it tried to escape by all means.
However, not happy in prison is only the feelings of the general public, for Lam Tai Wan, since his arrest for the dismemberment case, the court sentenced him to be placed under the custody of the prison ward, first detained in the Xiaolan Psychiatric Center to receive observation, and then be photographed in Lai Chi Kok Detention Facility to wait for the arraignment.
Lin, who had been accustomed to living in self-imposed seclusion, was not disheartened by being detained.
According to Banshee, a psychologist from Australia, Lam Tsoi-yun in the detention center is more cheerful than before because he has come into contact with more people and his living environment is completely different from that of the past 10 years.
Banshee said that according to his observation, in the Siu Lam Psychiatric Hospital or in the Lai Chi Kok Detention Centre, LAM Tso Wan had broken away from his self-contained environment and started to care about his family, cabs and cab shifts, and said that what he had done would have a very terrible impact on his family.
In addition to the fact that he had been in contact with different people and talked to a psychiatrist, Banshee thought that Lin had recovered from his schizophrenic state, but this did not mean that he had fully recovered, as this was unlikely.
There is one more thing which can show that LAM Tso-yun seems to be slightly different from the general public. After the case, as the police thought that his brother was also related to the case, they were both kept in the Siu Lam Psychiatric Center for observation, and when the case was arraigned at the San Po Kong Magistracy on 17 September 1982, LAM said that it was very painful to take injections every day in Siu Lam, making it impossible for him to fall asleep and he hoped to change to taking medication, but LAM Tso-yun did not put forward any similar views and only kept his head down. kept hanging his head.
When Lam Tsoi Wan was brought to the High Court for trial on March 4 after six months’ detention, some people who had seen him at the San Po Kong Magistracy said that after six months, Lam Tsoi Wan had put on weight.
The law protects the innocent and punishes the guilty.
What constitutes innocence? Legally, a person who has not been convicted by a court of law is innocent, regardless of how he is perceived by the community.
On the night of August 16 last year, after the arrest of LAM Choi-wan, despite the fact that there was a lot of evidence showing that he was the murderer of the four people, he had not yet been convicted by the court, and the press reports were almost certain that he was the “Butcher of Hong Kong”.
The Department of Justice was quite dissatisfied with the practice of the newspapers. Through a senior government official, he warned the heads of the newspapers at a meeting with the press that their reports had exceeded the provisions of the law, but the authorities were not prepared to institute prosecution for the time being and hoped that they would exercise self-discipline.
As LAM Choi-yun had become the object of attention but no one had ever seen his real face, a newspaper company sent someone to the Magistracy to give LAM Choi-yun’s appearance when he passed through the courtroom. In fact, this practice was a clear violation of the law.
Why are photographs and recordings not allowed in the courtroom? This is mainly to maintain the solemn appearance of the courtroom.
Drawings, though not photography, serve the same function and purpose, but newspapers are willing to risk being charged with contempt of court in order to compete.
Why do the police often cover the head of a suspect with a paper bag or something like that when they arrest him so that no one can see his real face? On the one hand, this is to prevent his photograph from being published in the newspapers, so that this witness will not have any preconceived notion in identifying the suspect, which may lead to the wrongful conviction of the innocent.
On the other hand, it is to protect the person concerned because he may not necessarily be found guilty, and if he is seen clearly, he may be wrongly regarded as a real criminal, thus affecting his future development.
According to the laws of the United Kingdom, apart from the fact that photographs are not allowed to be taken within the confines of a courtroom, even taking photographs with the courtroom as the background is an offence of contempt of court.
However, since Hong Kong is a small place with a large population, it is impossible to strictly enforce this ordinance, as in the case of taking photographs at the Statue Square in Central, it is very difficult to avoid including the Supreme Court in the shots.
Before the completion of the trial, newspaper reports on the case may affect the outcome of the trial. For example, if all the newspapers said that LAM Tso-yun was a butcher in Hong Kong, the jury may have a preconception that LAM Tso-yun had murdered the four women, and it would naturally be unfair to hand down a verdict.
In fact, when the Supreme Court started the jury on March 4, it said that since there had been too much press coverage beforehand, the jury should try to forget what they had read in the press in the past when they heard the case, and should decide whether Lam Tso-yun was guilty of murder on the basis of the evidence of both the prosecution and the defense in the courtroom.
The responsibility of the jury is to decide whether the defendant is guilty or not on the basis of the facts of the case, so no one can harass the jury on the facts of the case, or else they will be charged, and during the trial of LAM Choi-yun, there was a suspected incident of the jury being harassed by a new leisure reporter, which led to the judge giving a warning to the reporter.
At 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, the judge presiding over the trial of Lam Tso-yun announced that the court was adjourned for a break, and Luk Wai, the barrister defending Lam Tso-yun, stepped out of the courtroom, when a man approached him and said in English, “Lam Tso-yun is guilty of homicide, don’t let him be acquitted.”
Knowing that the man had mistaken him for a juror, Luk Wai reported it to the judge when the judge reappeared in court, who immediately cleared the courtroom, questioned the juries, and found that no bona fide juror had been molested before reopening the courtroom to hear the case.
When the trial was in session, he warned the reporters covering the case about this. If the jurors were really interfered with, the judge might have to dismiss the jury and select new jurors, and the case would have to be tried from scratch. Lawyers for both sides could use this as a reason to request that the current jury be discharged.
However, that day outside the court to Lu Wei speak to the person, not a reporter, but just a spectator citizen, the reporter can also be regarded as “eating a dead cat”.
Strictly speaking, the witnesses in the case were strictly speaking interfering with the witnesses when they left the courtroom and the journalists filmed them, as this may cause emotional distress to the witnesses, resulting in the truthfulness of their testimonies being jeopardized.
It is not allowed to interfere with, interfere with the meaning of Shen broadly including the use of money or benefits to buy witnesses, or even intimidation of witnesses, so that witnesses in the court to make false statements, are guilty.
The mother of Yim Lam Kok Wan also told the judge that she did not want reporters to take pictures of her, but the judge told her that since the case was a matter of public concern, he sympathized with her, but did not order reporters not to do so, and only told them to exercise self-discipline.
As a matter of fact, some newspapers have been a bit too boisterous and factually inaccurate in their reporting of this story, especially at the initial stage of solving the case, when a lot of information is reported on the basis of speculation, and often jokes are made as a result.
Some newspapers say. As a result of Lin’s arrest, the police searched the files of missing girls over the past twelve years to see if there was any connection with Lin. Lin was 27 years old when she was charged, but 12 years ago, she was only 15 years old.
Is a fifteen-year-old child capable of killing and destroying a corpse? It is really doubtful.
In addition, some newspapers also said that since the deceased had been mutilated and the time had passed, it was difficult to identify their faces, so when the family members of the deceased identified the body, some of them recognized their relatives from the pubic area of the deceased, which became even more of a fantasy.
The reason for this is that the news has developed to the stage of trial and it is difficult to have pictures to go with it. In addition, the TV news started at 6:30 p.m., when many people were having dinner at home, and it might cause viewers’ resentment to say that Lam Tsoi-yun hanged the corpse, raped the corpse and tasted the intestines of a human being. This may cause the viewers to be disgusted.
However, an independent film company started to turn the story into a movie shortly after the police cracked the case, and took advantage of the uproar caused by Lam Tso-yun’s primary investigation at the San Po Kong Titling Hall to shoot the actual scene outside the Magistracy, saving even the cost of the booking fee.
Shortly after the trial began in the High Court, the director of the film publicized that the film’s leading ladies, including Chen Fenglan’s siblings, could not be released because the case was still being heard in court.
When Lam’s father, Lam Wai Lok, gave evidence in court on March 17, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. To Fai, told him, “Some people say that Lam’s mental disorder is due to the harsh discipline you gave him when he was a child. Therefore, some people say that you should be held responsible in some way.”
Lin Weile asked To Hui, “Why don’t you say that society has a responsibility?”
It is society’s fault and society’s responsibility, which is what many people often talk about.
Lam did not point out what responsibility society has to bear in this case, but we can objectively review this case alone.
Lin Qiaoyun lives in a typical Chinese family that is predominantly patriarchal, and his father disciplines him in the same way that the previous generation disciplined their children.
If time had been set back a hundred or so decades, even if he had not become a filial son, he would have had little chance of becoming a “butcher” in a traditional family-oriented society, because he was always under the watchful eye of his elders.
The progress of time and the increase of seductive things stimulate the desire for knowledge, and the confined life is hardly satisfying, but the traditional bondage is still there.
Lin Weile seems to represent this traditional force, while Lin Joyun represents the new force that pursues towards new things, only that in this competition between the old and the new forces, the traditional force completely overwhelms the emerging force.
Rather than society being responsible for the abnormal development of Lin’s early childhood, it is the Lin family’s type of education, which emphasizes the traditional Chinese method of educating children, that has had a greater impact on him.
Before the age of seventeen, the circle of Lin’s life was dominated by his family, and it was not until he left home at the age of seventeen that he really came into contact with society.
Lam said in court that after leaving home, he saw pornographic magazines and began to take an interest in women’s bodies, and that his attempt to fondle the female subject’s lower body when he robbed the women’s restroom back then was based on a strong curiosity.
The proliferation of pornographic magazines is something that has always been criticized, and it is worth reviewing.
However, the impact of pornographic magazines on a person should be viewed in the context of the psychological state of the person concerned. It would be unfair if we do not measure the withdrawn character of the person concerned in conjunction with the lack of proper guidance from his elders in this respect. Therefore, society has a responsibility in this respect, but it will not be the whole story.
After the commission of the crime, before he was sentenced, LAM Tso-yun was first under observation at the Siu Lam Psychiatric Hospital; and between February and August last year, LAM’s mother saw that his attitude and mood were different from the past, so she sent him to see a doctor, thus showing that outsiders were aware that LAM Tso-yun’s mental state was inappropriate.
Psychiatric and psychological services in Hong Kong are not yet widely available, and since the Chinese people do not know much about psychological problems, they will not even think of consulting psychiatrists when they feel depressed, and even if they do think of consulting psychiatrists, the cost of such services is beyond the affordability of the general public, which will undoubtedly lead to the gradual aggravation of the morbid state of those who are slightly mentally ill.
Even for those who have been following the development of the dismemberment case, they would think that Lam’s claim of mental incompetence is an excuse to get away after committing the murder.
But let us not forget that Bains, a psychologist from Australia, said that many people have abnormal mentalities which are just latent and not manifested. Even the prosecuting counsel, who thought that LAM could control himself, admitted that he was mentally ill. If the authorities do not vigorously develop psychiatric services so that more people with minor mental illnesses can receive early treatment, there is no guarantee that there will not be another person whose methods of committing crimes are even more horrifying than those of LAM Tso-yun.
And when it comes to the issue of social responsibility, perhaps, in the case of Lin Guoyun, this is the greatest responsibility that our society has to bear.
When the dismembered woman’s body case began its first day of hearings in the Supreme Court, defense lawyer Lu Wei said that Lin Kuo-yun had a necrophilia fetish.
According to medical texts, necrophilia is an atypical sexual deviation.
In the third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association the year before last, American psychiatric authorities listed nine types of sexually deviant behavior, namely.
One: Orgasms are achieved by touching a glass or a woman’s clothing.
Two: Prefer to wear clothing of the opposite sex.
III: Sex with animals.
IV: Sexual intercourse with children.
Five: exhibitionism.
Six: Spying on the opposite sex in the shower or toilet.
Seven: masochism.
VIII: Sadism.
Nine: atypical, which includes necrophilia.
The above is just a categorization, and in actuality, several pathologies may occur together.
The psychological causes of sexual deviance are complex, and most are related to childhood life and family background.
Sexual deviants may be very normal in normal times and are not easily recognized on the surface. However, sexual perversion coupled with violence and dismemberment of photographs are rare. More normal interaction with the opposite sex will help to reduce the possibility of perversion, but socialization between men and women requires special skills, which are not innate but need to be learned, and if some people fail to learn them, they will not know how to get along with the opposite sex.
Usually a person is interested in the opposite sex is to look at the other side of the whole, such as the opposite sex of the sexual organs separate from the human body to see, the psychology is a little perverted. This kind of perversion also exists in the subconscious mind of the average person, but it will not be manifested in behavior.
Sexually deviant behavior does not necessarily involve violence and is not the same thing as schizophrenia, although schizophrenia may also include sexual deviance.
Sexual perversion coupled with violence is a mixture of fear and hatred of the opposite sex, which, taken to an extreme, may be taken out on people who do not pose a threat to one’s self, including those who are already dead, i.e., one may rape a corpse.
However, people with this kind of perverted sexual mentality may normally be no different from normal people. The so-called “abnormal” refers to the behavior at a certain time and place, and to a certain object, so a person can behave as if nothing has happened on many occasions, but when it is not noticed by people, it will do something that is not accepted by people.
If a person has a perverted behavior, he will hide his sickness in his daily life, and even those who are closest to him will not easily notice it, unless it is diagnosed by a psychiatrist in detail.
Psychopathy is accumulated over a long period of time. Whether there is a genetic influence is still being studied, but generally speaking, if the father has perverted behaviors, he is prone to have children with perverted behaviors; however, whether this is due to environmental influences or heredity is not yet conclusive.
Weather and environmental atmosphere will make the sick person’s perverted behavior show, in fact, normal people are also affected by this, for example, plus a couple, in the bright moonlight, feelings will become particularly rich. Similarly, a perverted person who is particularly sensitive to a certain environment, in that environment, the pathology will be strongly displayed.
The sick can be categorized into three groups.
I. Not knowing that I have an aberration from the norm!
(b) Self-awareness of deviant behavior, but unable to control it!
Third, they know that they have perverted behaviors, but they do not recognize them as wrong, but feel that they are normal.
Of the three cases, the last is the most dangerous, because when a sick person goes into murder or criminal activity, he is not necessarily delirious; emotionally, he is impulsive and driven by morbid ideas to commit crimes, but in terms of rational reasoning, he can be very calm, and his logical reasoning is not interfered by the morbid at all, and he is able to arrange the plan of the crime one by one and in detail, and it can be said that the dangerousness of the sick person can be based on this point. The danger of the perverted patient can be said to be based on this.
As for the criminological point of view, the murderer will cut open the body, usually for six reasons: First, Hong Kong is densely populated, a person who has just died is weak, in order to facilitate the removal of the body, the body is the best way to split the body.
(b) Make it difficult for the police to identify the deceased.
(c) Psychological problems and the mistaken belief that women are defiled and should not be approached.
Fourth, sexual impotence, seeing people in pain in order to be satisfied.
(e) Triad practices as a warning to others.
VI. Cult beliefs.
Such cases occur only once every 10 to 15 years in Hong Kong, making it difficult for sociologists to study the pathological causes of the murderers.
The perpetrators may not be stimulated by pornographic publications, but most of them are young and have already had psychological problems, have low self-esteem, but are aggressive, withdrawn and unsmiling.
