The Seven Original Sins of a Lonely Life

This is my first submission, so please give me more advice and support, I’ll do my best, thanks.

I. Unexpected visitors

It’s July 1st, and as usual I get up at 6:00 a.m. and sit down in front of the couch to have a cup of unflavored coffee before I wash up, as it lifts my spirits. Suddenly a sharp doorbell rang, and due to the nature of my work, I wouldn’t have been surprised to have someone bother me that early. Just as I opened the door, I couldn’t help but be startled, perhaps having seen too much of the world, I recovered in less than a few seconds, but…

Although I knew a few famous CEOs, the one standing in front of me now was the CEO of the Arthur Group, Zhang Liangguang, who was currently in the top ten in terms of turnover and was known for his authoritarianism and dictatorship. I had seen him on TV and his domineering face was rarely seen in the world, and his speeches were even more succinct and forceful, never uttering a single word of nonsense. However, the man outside the door now… was completely different from the image I had known of him. His clothes were disheveled, and the corners of his cheeks and mouth were twitching, as if he had just suffered some kind of horrible shock.

As I carried him into my bedroom and lay down, I sat on the edge of the bed and thought: what could have happened to make this super strong man so afraid?

Thank you for reading this far, and please let me know if you like it. I’ll keep writing… The best is yet to come, so please wait.

II. Letters of blood

Looking at the unconscious Zhang Liangguang, I had a bunch of questions in my mind: why did he know my name? Why was he so frightened? Is someone really trying to kill him? And what is the connection with Satan? All of this puzzled me. So I couldn’t help but get lost in thought.

Suddenly, Zhang Liangguang woke up with a cry, and I was really startled by him. Although he woke up from unconsciousness, his body was still trembling, so I hurriedly pressed his hands and asked him not to panic, and to tell me what had happened.

Jang Ryongkwang took one of the tranquilizers I gave him, swallowed a mouthful of water, and slowly he calmed down: “Mr. Lonely… Now I’m going to tell you everything that happened… Maybe you’ll think it’s laughable, but I swear that every word I say is true, and you have to believe me.” Jang Ryongkwang said to me as he looked at me with helpless eyes.

“Okay.” I wasn’t sure if I’d believe him, since I’m an atheist, but after all, his panic was something I’d seen with my own eyes, so I figured he wasn’t above lying to me.

Zhang Liangguang took a deep breath and then said: “The thing is like this, a month ago, just when I was about to leave work, the secretary called me and handed me a registered letter. Of course I didn’t think anything of it because I get at least a couple dozen registered letters a day. But since I happened to be off duty, I opened the letter casually, when I froze. Inside the letter was only a piece of white paper, but on top of the white paper there was a symbol of the devil drawn in blood (a circle with a star inside it) I didn’t think much of it at the time, so I just threw it away… but for the rest of the day I… I received the same letter every day, and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I was unknowingly afraid that someone might be hostile to me or even want to kill me.”

“Did you bring the letter?” I thought to myself, “Who could be that sick?

He slowly with trembling hands from the suit hidden pocket out of a stack of “blood” out, I held in my hands and looked at the thirty sheets of paper filled with blood. I said to him: “Mr. Zhang, looking at the bloodstains I am sure this is not human blood.”

He seemed to misunderstand me and his whole body shook again.

I hurriedly said to him, “Don’t be afraid, it’s not Satan’s blood, it’s just some kind of animal’s blood.”
