Chapter 1: Rumors
The imperial capital, Fire Obsidian City, had recently been in an uproar over a rumor.
Rumor has it that the Yamba clan, which is on guard duty in the palace, has returned to the Fire Realm for the first time in 800 years from a different dimension, with the Jade Seat in the Hall of Dome of Light.
The story goes like this: two guards in charge of the entrance to the Vault of Light were on duty when they saw a bright light coming out of the hall. There was only one possible explanation for this phenomenon: the chaos and darkness inside the Vault of Light had stabilized, or even returned to normal, which meant that the Jade Seat had returned.
The return of the Jade Throne, what a shock! If the news is true, then the 800 years of joint rule by the four clans of Van Meter, Yamba, Tacciarodo and Nuweke will come to an end, and the entire Fire Realm will be united once again. There was a great deal of debate among all the clans that heard the news. Some said that it was simply a trick of Yamba to draw in the Nuweke to resist Van Meter, while others said that Yamba was not that bold, but rather Van Meter could use this as a way to claim the right to inherit the Jade Throne, and therefore it must be a rumor made up by Van Meter. In any case, most people believed the rumor, causing panic.
To set the record straight, the Four Demons would gather in Fire Obsidian City for the first time in an unprecedented flower viewing season.
On the third day of the Sakura Moon, the two hundred dragon cavalry from Nuwek arrived first, led by the Fourth Dragon General Crystal, who was still bright and beautiful, with her armor reserved for the ceremony according to the custom of entering the Imperial Capital, which further accentuated the beauty of her figure. Then, on the fourth day, King Samlan of the Van Meter Eclipse, wearing the traditional bone armor of the Lycans, led 800 cavalry, 1200 infantry, and 200 firearms soldiers to enter the city with great force; Tacciarodo’s 600 giant lizard soldiers delayed until the sixth day before escorting Bent, the silver governor of the Lizard King, who was in his old age, to enter the city. The one who received the generals in the city was General Valium, who had been on duty to guard the imperial capital since before the Goblin King Yambo.
On the seventh day, the meeting unfolded, in the Splattered Blood Hall, the traditional meeting place for all the generals of the magical war. Valium was relaxed, Samlan was annoyed, Bent remained expressionless, and Crystal seemed to be still a little dazed from the flower-viewing season.
The meeting began with Samran’s statement, “Is the return of the Jade Seat true or false?”
The Wolf King’s tone was unkind: “Mr. Supervisor, for the past few days, he has been pushing to say that we will talk about it when the people are all together, but now that the people are all together, do you still want to keep it a secret?”
Since the moment Samran had entered the city, Valium had been evasive about the matter, and several private inquiries to him had been evaded. And none of the eyes that Van Meter had sent around the city could ascertain the truth of the matter. Samran’s self-esteem was severely damaged, and he killed a few people last night to vent his anger.
Anding replied with a smile, “Your Eclipse Excellency is not in a hurry, honestly, even I am not sure.”
“What!”
Salam growled and stood up, the wolf’s hair fully erected behind him: “Valium, are you playing me?”
“Calm down, Salem, this isn’t Wolfheart Court.”
The Fourth Dragon General spoke: “Don’t forget you’re in front of the Jade Throne.”
Salam laughed out loud, “Jade Seat ago? What year are you talking about? Right, this is the 30th crystal year, right? The Fourth Dragon General I wonder if he was ever honored to enter the Jade Palace?”
“You…!”
Crystal abruptly rose to her seat and drew her love sword, Dragonheart, and Salam extended his claws, both sides were on the verge of a fight.
“Wait!”
Governor Silver, who had been silent, spoke.
“Will the two lords listen to the old man?”
Of the four current Demon Generals, Bent was the only Genin to have survived the last great war, and so Thakkjarodo, though not strong in force, always commanded the respect of the other three clans. As expected, both Samlan and Crystal quieted down at this statement.
“Grandpa Yin…!”
Crystal’s plants were not convinced and she pouted at Bengt. Bent rare face fierce this little granddaughter: “Sit down!”
Crystal put away her sword and returned to her seat with an aggrieved face, and Salam was also too embarrassed to stand, so he also put away his claws and sat down. Bent saw the atmosphere eased, and then continued to speak: “His Excellency the Supervisor has not yet opened the seal of the Vault of Light Hall, right?”
The young but resourceful Valium had just sat and watched the clash between Crystal and Salam, and only now replied with a smile, “As expected of the Silver Governor. I wouldn’t dare to act on such an important matter on my own, and I’m afraid it’s not smart to open the seal of the Chaos Space just based on a little bit of speculation.”
“What about having light coming from inside the Dome of Light?”
“That’s for sure.”
Valium replied with a certainty in her tone. Crystal and Salem were immediately uneasy.
The old Bengt is still expressionless, can not see any emotional ups and downs, just continue to ask: “Details?”
“May I allow my subordinates to speak for me?”
When the Four Demon Generals assembled in the Splatter Hall, they were not allowed to bring their minions in, so Valium needed to ask permission from the other three Demon Generals. Bent and Salam nodded, while Crystal did not comment. Valium also ignored Crystal and clapped his hands : “Lige!”
“Yes.”
A red-haired cat hunter girl answered the door and pushed it open and walked in, naked as per the rules in case she was hiding a weapon. Although it was unlikely that an ordinary assassin would be a threat to the Demon Warrior General, it was always a rule left over from the previous dynasty, and there was no need to break it.
“Liji greets the four lords,” she said and ambled down.
When a normal person sees the four demon generals gathered in the battlefield, to be able to not tremble is already remarkable, not to mention that they can still behave so decently, so it can be seen that Valium has spent a lot of effort in the training.
“The roly-poly niceties are dispensed with, and the report of business is of the utmost importance.”
The Van Meter clan had never been big on etiquette, and Reggie’s excessive politeness only annoyed Salem.
“Yes.”
Lizzie lifted her upper body and sat upright in accordance with the ritual.
“Start with the dome light hall translucency.”
Valium reminded Lizzie.
“Aye. The first translucency of the Dome of Light Hall was begun on the second day of this year’s Misty Moon at 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.. It was discovered by Zade, the woodland goblin who guards the Dome of Light Hall on rotation, and his Sithar hunting cat, Rondeliga, and confirmed to be correct by the General of our Lord’s Supervisory State, the translucency phenomenon ended at 4:38 a.m.”
“After the first glowing, the Dome of Light was watched by eight groups of guards on a rotating basis, and up to the present date there were three occurrences in addition to the first, from 1:15 a.m. to 2:01 a.m. on the fourth day of the Misty Month, which lasted forty-six minutes; from 8:16 p.m. to 9:58 p.m. on the eleventh day of the Frosty Month, which lasted one hour and forty-two minutes; and from 9:32 a.m. to 12:06 a.m. on the twenty-first day of the Third Frozen Month, which lasted two hours and thirty-four minutes.”
The report finished, and Rikki ambled down again.
The records were very detailed, and it could be seen that Valium’s mind was meticulous;I’m afraid that the same thing wouldn’t be the same if it was handled by Salam or Crystal. After listening to the report, the four Demon Generals, including Salam, fell into deep thought.
In the end it was the deeply resourceful Bent who opened his mouth first: “The intervals were longer than once, but the durations were longer than once.”
The other three Demon Generals all nodded slowly.
“I wonder when the next translucent light will be?”
Crystal murmured, only to hear Salaam reply, “Maybe never again, hey…”
“Stinky dog!”
Not waiting for Salam to finish laughing, the Dragon Heart Sword had already rushed out from its sheath for the second time, stabbing at the throat of the Werewolf King. Salam had already anticipated this, his body moved, and while avoiding the sword, his sharp claws had already grabbed at Crystal’s chest from the bottom up. The moment the Lycan King’s sharp four-inch claws were about to make a large hole in the Fourth Dragon General’s chest, which had been enriched by the ceremonial armor he wore, a foreign object struck Salam, forcing him to turn his right hand, which had been grasping at Crystal, to take down the concealed weapon. The object shook Salam’s body and made him tingle, and when he looked at it, it was the silver chalice of Bent’s signature mark.
“That’s enough! Do you really want to splatter blood in this Blood Splattering Hall? Bastard!”
Bengt was rarely so angry, wrinkled round face turned greenish green; Crystal escaped from death, and by the “Silver Grandpa” so yelled, scared in the hands of the Dragon Heart Sword almost fell; Salam was Bengt’s shock, straight thought: “this old man where is the strength of such a strong way? “
Valium, who had always watched the tiger fight from a distance, still smiled: “Please calm down, if you all have any failures in this Fire Obsidian City, I, who is on duty as the guardian of the imperial capital, can’t afford to take the blame!”
Salam had no place to vent his anger, and when he was provoked by Valium’s cold words, he immediately shifted his anger to a different target: “It’s not just you, you pointy-eared ghost! So what if the Jade Throne returns? It’s already customary for the Four Demon Generals not to gather during the flower viewing season, so you’re not at home playing with your women, but you’re here to spread rumors to deceive me, and put the blame on me!”
It seems that Salem is still upset about being dragged out during flower viewing season.
In the face of Salam’s angry roar, the Goblin King said with a straight face: “Your Excellency Eclipse is wrong, the return of the Jade Throne is such a big deal, how can we not deal with it first? Besides, there is still a month and a half left in the flower viewing season, so there is still plenty of time to enjoy the boudoir if this matter is taken care of first.”
“And you say…!”
Salem’s anger nearly erupted again, only the thought of Bent on his side forced him to keep his hands to himself.
“King Eclipse, sit down, the Supervising General has a response to this.”
Thinking about his own age is not long to die, Crystal and Salam simple-minded, and no outstanding thinker to assist, coupled with the return of the Jade Throne this matter fell into the hands of Valium, I am afraid that in the next one or two hundred years of the fire world’s dominance will have to be in the hands of the ambitious young talent in front of the eyes of the Valium, Bent sighed. As for Valium’s ambition, it is not for Bengt to know.
“Yes, and allow my subordinates to report on my behalf.”
The more excited Valium was, the more he spoke in a manner that was not very clear. He knew that this was his greatest weakness, but he could never change it: “Liji!”
The cat hunter girl who had been prostrate on the ground got up and sat down, unaffected by the killing aura of the party: “Yes. After careful consideration, there are two ways to handle the matter of the Dome of Light’s translucency. The first is for the four clans to work together to lift the seal of the Dome of Light…”
“Fart! Fart!”
Before Liji could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Salam: “If you want to play with your lives, you go by yourselves! My disciples and grandchildren are not that cheap!”
“What, is there a time when the King of Eclipses is afraid?”
The one who spoke was Crystal. It seemed she had recovered from the shock she had just experienced.
“Okay, you pussy if you’re not afraid go by yourself, I’m not getting into this mess!”
Salem, who had always had more pride than life, actually flinched; and Crystal, who had been sneered at in return, traced her eyes to Bent, and seeing Bent gently shake his head, actually bowed her head in silence as well.
Bent spoke up, “It seems that the first countermeasure won’t work. What about the second one, kitten?”
The Old Lizard King’s eyes glittered in the dim light of the Hall of Bastard Blood, shining directly at Reiji, causing her to shiver and hastily avert her eyes: “Yes… Yes… The second countermeasure is to temporarily stop the four clans from rotating to the Imperial Capital, with one clan in charge on a permanent basis, and the other three clans assigning people to monitor it, so as to prevent the Dome of Light from becoming a place where the four clans can rotate, and the one clan can monopolize the secrets, which would lead to Unnecessary disputes…”
To put it bluntly, it’s the old-fashioned way, and since none of the four clans are convinced by anyone, and the return of the Jade Seat doesn’t seem to be a day or two away, this should be the most logical way to handle it.
“Wait, if one clan is in charge for a long period of time, if there is a real change in the Dome Hall won’t that clan keep the secret all to itself?”
Samran’s brain moves pretty fast if he wants to calm down.
“In that case, shouldn’t the four clans jointly garrison the city?”
Confronted with Samran’s question, Reki was at a loss as to what to do and had to look at Anding for help. The General replied on Reki’s behalf: “There are a few difficulties in combining the four clans, firstly, it is not possible for the Four Devils to leave their own territories unattended for a whole year in the imperial capital. Secondly, the resources in the vicinity of the imperial capital cannot provide the four clans with the resources they need for a long period of time, and thirdly…”
Anding laughed at this point: “If the four clans were to be united, I’m afraid the area around the imperial capital would turn into a sea of flames in less than half a day…”
The reasoning is simple enough that it’s impossible to think of anything to counter it, but it always feels wrong.
“Okay. And which clan will be in charge?”
Crystal asks the question. That’s the crux of it, by the way. Newfork or Van Meter is out of the question, and whichever clan is chosen, the other clan has to put up a fight. The only choices left are Yambo and Tacjalodo.
The Blood Splatter Hall was quiet for a while, and finally, Valium spoke up: “The one who can take on this task is not the Silver Governor, what do you all think?”
This is the choice of course, in terms of seniority and sleight of hand, Valium can’t be compared to Bent in any case, and this statement coming from Valium can also appear that he has no ambition.
“Aye.”
Crystal, who was the closest to Bent among the three juniors, answered immediately. Samran answered back to her, “Governor Silver hasn’t said yes yet, so why are you chiming in.”
Crystal glared at Salem, but had nothing to say, except to turn her head to see how Bent reacted.
Bent closed his eyes and did not reply. Letting the other three Demon Warfare Generals wait blearily for a while before opening his eyes : “Since the three lords have pushed for love, the old man will bow in respect.”
