Preamble.

Love is always so sudden. It has no warning, no footsteps, but it cuts through one’s life like an arrow.

Everyone more or less has wanted to have a romantic, heartfelt love – even if it is as short as the hissing cicadas in summer, it is enough to savor for a lifetime. It’s never about what you had or what you’ll have, it’s about what you feel in your dreams, your memories, and the proof that you’ve paid with no regrets.

The reason why I named this love story ‘Love Caught in the Net’ is mainly because the subsequent chapters are all taken from the real love songs of the author’s acquaintances. Some of them are online love, some of them are the sweet fruits of youth grown by the song of life. Tears and smiles are intertwined.

Let’s accompany the story characters as they laugh and grieve together!

I believe many of my friends have questioned the authenticity and reliability of online dating. I would like to use this text chapter as a witness.

Love, what is its true meaning? Perhaps, you can find some vague answers in it.

In order to protect the real identities of the people who provide past events, all characters appearing in this article are replaced by pseudonyms. Please do not verify.

I am very grateful to these online friends who are eager to assist me in my creative endeavors!

Chapter One: The Birdcage of Love (I)-The Six-Year Love Run Without an End in the Name of Love

You covered for me.

web of interlocking layers

The original biplane

Trying to stretch out in a crowded space.

Instead, I got a merciless electric shock.

A set of birdcages to keep the form in action

But it won’t stop me from touching and breathing what I want.

You gave it to me.

Unrealistic feeds

I’m not a canary who can’t swallow

Please tell me.

What are you? What are you?

Taichung, an affluent county and city in central Taiwan. The climate is mild and pleasant, and the sunshine is not stifling. Compared to the two ‘steamer’ metropolitan areas of Taipei and Kaohsiung – which are not only hot, disorganized, and have poor air quality, but also have a high real estate market – many yuppies and top-performers have been moving to Taichung.

Since the Central City Plan was changed and agricultural land was rezoned, many landowners have become rich overnight. The value of agricultural land has doubled and multiplied tens of times, just as the value of land has doubled and multiplied tens of times. Newly planned villas, residential areas, and skyscraper commercial buildings have sprung up one by one on the otherwise green land.

Taichung is slowly progressing from a simple village girl to a well-dressed fancy girl. Her dark nights are probably even more brilliant and beautiful than those of Taipei and Kaohsiung.

Xiaoya, a simple girl born in Taichung. She has a beautiful face and a slightly weak body. She was taught by a strict family and has been sickly since childhood, so she is a bit unhappy in her temperament. She has a light sadness on her face.

When the girls were a little older, the family moved to Taipei in search of a better educational environment.

The bustling world of flowers.

Being a member of a large family and a daughter of the family, she is naturally favored by her relatives and elders. Xiaoya’s father regarded her as the jewel in the palm of his hand, and pampered her, but her mother’s jealousy and resentment. Mother and daughter often do not get along, or even quarrel.

The father looked on, unable to do anything about it.

Xiaoya is smart and clever, and her grades in elementary school and the first two years of junior high school are good. During the summer vacation before her promotion to the third grade, the argument between her and her mother became heated – not only did her studies fall apart, but the atmosphere in the house was seriously affected.

One evening, while her mother was busy cooking, the girl presented her idea to her father.

“Dad!” Ya stammered, “I want to move out.”

Her father’s eyes widened in surprise: “Why? Am I not good enough for you?

You can tell me any grievances you have!”

“No, it’s not that. It’s because mom…” the young girl sighed, “is always arguing with me for some reason, and I can’t stand it anymore. It happened several times yesterday!”

Xiaoya’s eyes reddened their frames, she didn’t want to do this. Since childhood, the girl has never been away from home. Not only do not want to, but there is a kinship difficult to part with.

My father stomped his feet and slammed the table, saying angrily, “I don’t know what’s in your mom’s mind. What’s the point of fighting with your own daughter? Xiaoya, don’t be afraid, I’m still in charge of this family!”

The girl shook her head, “People really can’t stay, Dad. For the sake of the family, I must move out.” She lowered her face and sobbed quietly.

The father’s persuasive efforts – such as talking to her mother and trying to avoid the two of them appearing at the same time – still did not change his daughter’s determination.

“Ugh..! Fine!” My father gave up trying to convince me, “Ya, I’ll let you move. But I’d like to know where you’re moving to so that I can feel at ease.”

The girl broke into a happy smile when she saw him agree, “Really? Thanks, thanks dad!

“She stood up, thanked her father and then looked around to see that no one was there and hurried back to her room.

Sitting in a wicker chair, he removed a pack of Longevity from his shorts pocket and slowly pulled up a cigarette.

The lighter was lit and wisps of green mist lingered.

The middle-aged man sat trapped within the clouds of worry, not uttering a word as his vision disappeared to the top of the roof beams.

The young girl’s mother walked out of the kitchen, “Hey! Goggle Boy, what are you gawking at?”

He didn’t even lift his eyelids, “Nope! I was just thinking about Outlaw Chi.”

“It seemed like ya were talking to you just now, what was the conversation about?” She asked tentatively to see if her daughter was taking the opportunity to complain and take part in the conversation.

The man’s lips cataracted gently, “I speak, I’m moving out!”

“What? I’m moving out?” The woman said, “You don’t like the food in the Alcove?

Or do you live without joy?”

“I don’t know.” Xiaoya’s father downplayed the situation, “What’s the reason, you still know.”

Her mother’s face brushed white for a moment, and she asked no more questions.

The woman immediately piled up a smile, “Well! Your belly is fine? It’s time to eat. I’ll go call Xiaoya and the others.” She immediately withdrew from the outer edge of the storm circle.

At this dinner, the father, mother, and youngest daughter had their eyes intentionally staggered away from each other, and no one spoke. The other members of the family were confused, how could they intervene? Everyone buried their heads in their rice and vegetables, and the power of low pressure slowly enveloped the family.

Xiaoya finished her meal, helped clear the table afterward, and dug into her own world. Tidying up the daily necessities that she would like to take with her tomorrow, separating luggage and handbags. She looked up and around the familiar surroundings, the scenery, a blur in front of her eyes, tears poured down. No sound.

It was like a droplet of water from the tip of an icicle splashing down into the pool of her heart, rippling and spreading in circles.

She considered hiding out at the home of a close classmate to avoid her mother’s hostility. The girl secretly called the classmate to explain the reason. The classmate, who knew about the situation, agreed without asking any more questions.

“Ya, I’m coming to get you a ride to my house tomorrow morning at ten o’clock. Do you have everything ready?”

“Uh… almost. Let’s agree on this time then. Bye!” The two of them agreed on the meeting place, and the young girl hung back the microphone with relief.

She sat on the edge of the bed and breathed a sigh of relief – the decision was heavy and not easy. Sayaka went back to her desk and opened the pages of the lesson she was supposed to be studying. With each passage, her father’s saddened expression appeared on the young girl’s mind.

After reading the textbook page by page, the weight of the memories of her father’s love accumulated inside her heart became tighter and tighter. The girl’s eyes closed and her arms trembled slightly.

A stabbing pain in her chest. The idea of leaving her father and the rest of her family, who loved her dearly, was shaken.

Ya recalled her mother’s inexplicable words and behavior and her sharp gaze, and dismissed the whole idea of remorse.

‘Dad, brother, sister…, please forgive me and support me. I believe I am doing the right thing…’ This was the only excuse the girl could find to comfort herself.

Tears dripped onto the inside cover of the book again, and her freshly written notes were soaked with water, making a mess. Just like Saya at this moment, she couldn’t contain her excitement any longer and pressed her upper body against the desktop, crying out loud…

Time, it doesn’t matter. Only a release and catharsis.

The next morning, the curtains steal between the morning light to wake up the young girl, she realized that this party actually sat up all night. Even though it was summer, the evening was still cool, and she could catch a cold if she wasn’t careful.

The lamp had been turned off, and Xiaoya’s shoulders and back were covered by her coat – her father must have seen that the light was on in her room and she was already asleep. Not wanting to disturb his daughter, but also fearing that she might catch a cold, he silently covered her up to keep her warm and then quietly exited.

The girl smiled, half-sweet, half-bitter. She was saddened by the look of sadness in her father’s eyes as he left his precious daughter whom he had always held in the palm of his hand.

A simple breakfast. Xiaoya had no appetite at all, and with her chopsticks in the air, she probably ate no more than a sparrow. She glanced at her father from time to time – he was eating as usual, but he looked anxious. Her mother and siblings ate quietly.

“Good Zai Mou Zai,” he mustered up the courage to speak: “What time you ding mai go?” The two sorrowful pupils looked at his daughter.

Xiaoya’s tone was soft, trying to calm her father’s emotions: “Yes, Abba, it’s ten o’clock.

I’m going to meet Juan under the bus stop sign across the alleyway.”

“Press it.” Dad said to himself, “It’s Juani, I’m not worried!”

“Dad…” the girl whispered, “Take care of yourself while I’m away…”

“I know!” He swallowed his porridge, “I’ll walk you and Kuen to the car later.”

It was a little after nine forty when the father helped his daughter with her luggage and walked slowly down the road with her shoulder to shoulder. The girl looked down, at her own shadow.

Parents in heaven, along the way he intermittently said pay attention to health, more careful words. Although there are only a few sentences, the feeling of care is overflowing.

Outside the alleyway, not far away, her daughter’s classmate, Ajuan, has been equal to the stop sign toward Xiaoya waving.

“Hello Uncle!” Juan greeted the young girl’s father.

“Take care of Steady Knife Sayaka.” Word by word, he entrusted Juan with a heavy responsibility.

Ajuan smiled politely, “Steady on! Please don’t worry.”

Dad handed the girl her luggage discreetly, and the two of them were silent for a while as the three of them waited for the shuttle bus to arrive.

“Ah, here comes the bus!” Ajuan hurriedly greeted Xiaoya and reached out to stop the bus.

Ah Kuen got in the car first. Her father gave his daughter a few more words of instruction before Ya stepped into the car, shaking her hand to say goodbye to the walkers outside the window.

He swings his arm wordlessly and watches the body slowly drive away, fading away. The shadow of the car disappeared on the other side and the man sighed, turning back.

Xiao Ya is a piece of meat in his heart, how can a father let go?

Seeing that Xiaoya had been moping around, Juan said something to the girl about her plans to go on a trip. The young girl finally put aside her feelings for the time being and discussed with her classmates the details of which places were worth visiting and when to go. Xiaoya laughed happily.

The girl stays in the guest room of her classmate’s house and spends almost a week in a carefree life. However, her brother and sister at home turn around and ask Juan to bring the bad news to Xiaoya.

“What? My father…?” The young girl was shocked, “Juan, you’re saying that my dad hasn’t eaten or drunk for days? Just because I wasn’t home?”

Her classmate nodded, “Yeah! That’s what they said – Ever since you left home, your father has been very depressed. The first two days were fine, but on the third day he started not eating, not talking much, ignoring your mom, and so on for several days…. When your elder brother and sister realized something was wrong, they called.”

Ya’s face turned dark, and her eyes filled with tears: “Dad, you are really too much of a child! You’re just like a child!”

“Your father cherishes you so much, Ya, it’s better for you to go back and see him.” Ajuan advised the girl.

The young girl fretted, “That I know. But, we have to make sure that my mom is at home first? Otherwise, once we meet again…”

Her classmates called to ask out Xiaoya’s mother has just left in anger back to her mother’s home, rushed to tell the girl’s situation. Xiaoya heard, can not stop shaking his head.

“Forget it. Let’s wait for mom’s anger to subside, then go with dad, elder siblings and the others to pick her up and bring her home.” As things turned out like this, the girl only felt a million times more helpless.

Xiaoya packed her bags and took a joint bus ride home. As soon as she approached the door, her brother and sister gathered around and described the details of their parents’ cold war.

The girl was full of apologies to her father. It was amazing that he had endured so much for her.

“Dad! I’m home!” The young girl called softly as soon as she entered the doorway.

He popped up from the wicker chair, “Xiaoya, is it really you? Do I dream all night?”

The young girl poured down a rain of tears and threw herself into her father’s arms, crying out in pain.

“It’s good to be back, it’s good to be back…” he murmured as he stroked his daughter’s hair.

The storm finally subsided. Although the mother returned home, the hostility between her and Ya continued unabated.

A year into her third year of state, the girl’s grades were unimpressive. Good and bad.

Unfortunately, she did not get admitted to the school of her choice in the first round of the Joint Entrance Examination for Senior Secondary Schools (JEE). Xiaoya had to pin her hopes on the subsequent examinations for the Fifth College and Higher Commercial Vocational Examinations.

The results of the five colleges were released, and the scores were not ideal – a private five college in Hualien; fortunately, the night section of the commercial college did well, and I was admitted to a rather prestigious commercial college in Taipei area.

When a young girl hears that she’s gotten into a good business school, she’s happy to spend her days celebrating with her former classmates and traveling around. Slightly confused by nature, she forgets all about the date she has to fill out the application form.

Throw it out the window.

On this day, Xiaoya dressed up as usual and prepared to go to Keelung Miaokou for snacks with her friends.

“Xiaoya ah! Don’t you have to fill in the application form before you can distribute the test materials? Look at the time is the Department of this array, how do not see you have what microphone action?” Dad called out to his daughter, worried and asked.

The girl wowed, “Right! How could I have forgotten?”

She checked her calendar in a panic; today was the deadline for the nightly portion of the distribution, and this was bad!

Xiaoya immediately took out her report card and registration form, ran and jumped, and joined her companions to go all the way to the school auditorium where she was assigned to report to the school.

She approached the service table with trepidation, “Uh, Miss. I’d like to fill in the data processing section of the night department, is that okay?”

“Student, it’s the last day,” the staff in charge of the procedure pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, “the information technology department was full in the first two days! If you want to study information technology, you should come earlier to line up and fill out the form!”

The girl blushed slightly, aware of the sardonic glances being cast around her, “That looks like it, huh? So what other departments still have openings?”

“Let’s see… Business Operations Section, General Section…” the woman reported down the list one by one.

Xiaoya interrupted her, “Miss, then I’ll pick Business and Economics.” There was really no better choice.

The young girl walked out of the school gate with her friend and companion resentfully, and kept complaining in her heart that she was too playful.

Swinging for the fences.

Unbeknownst to her, her decision affected the next six years of her love life.

No, I should say everything.

As summer vacation draws to a close, the girl reluctantly packs up her playfulness. On the day of registration, she receives two sets of white shirts and long black pleated skirts, which she curiously changes into and poses in the room’s one-piece mirror.

‘Nowadays, I’m a senior lo! Finally a big girl!’ Xiaoya is looking forward to the richness of her three-year senior career.

What surprises await her? A dream? Or…

On the afternoon of the first day of school, a young girl walked through the school gates with her backpack. With her eye-catching and bright appearance, she quickly became the center of attention for the day and night students and freshmen.

Xiaoya suddenly realized that a few familiar backdrops had also appeared in the campus, “Yeah? Xiao Ting, Xiao Mei, Kuen? Why are you…?” She named them with her fingers.

“I say Ya, you can’t be selfish and run in to school alone, abandoning us former diehards!” Ajuan pulled down on the young girl’s left hair braid.

Several lively and cheerful girls let out bursts of laughter, causing even more sidelong glances from others.

“Hey, do you know who that first year girl is?” A handsome boy who also appeared to have just entered the school elbowed his accomplice beside him and asked in a low voice.

A male student said, “Mann, how would we know? You’ve got a mouth on you, why don’t you ask?”

“Kidding! I’m so attractive, why do I need to ask?” Arwen said conceitedly.

The two male students squinted rather ‘disdainfully’ at the boy in the center, “You’re pretty stinky!

Owe to fight!” After saying that, he swung his fist and made a gesture to whack.

The boy smiled and begged for mercy: “Okay! I’m just telling the truth! I’m just telling the truth, why are you hitting me? Wait a minute, I think I remember her, but I can’t remember where I’ve seen her before…”

They aim to the left, “Hey, stop. Those pretty sisters are coming over!” The three who were enrolled in the Information Science Hyo class immediately returned to normal.

Aya approached Arwen and the others along with the three girls. A few of the boys then showed off their ‘coolest’ looks.

Ajuan inclined her head and whispered to Xiaoya, “Have you noticed that the most handsome boy in the center has been looking at you?”

The young girl had certainly noticed, and she flashed a friendly smile towards Arwen as she turned to leave with the others.

After the girls walked away, one of the boys coaxed, “Man, that beautiful girl from the Business Economics class is smiling at you! You’ve got a good chance of catching up with her.”

“Don’t talk too soon.” The male student at the center was confident, “You guys watch, I’ll catch her and then slowly transform her into my ideal lover.”

His partner laughed loudly, “We’ll just wait and see!”

“Right, Man, aren’t you interested in boxing? I heard that there’s a boxing club in this school, how about going after school? How about it?”

“Yes!” The boy agreed quickly.

The three of them walked together, shoulder to shoulder, in the direction of the classroom. …

Ya insists on being self-reliant and tries not to live on her parents’ money. Since she was admitted to the night department, she chose to live a half-work, half-study life. Every day, she worked the big night shift and only went to bed during the day. Day and night were reversed. This had adverse side effects on her delicate body.

The girl often suffers from stomach pains and has irregular meals. She only eats once a day, mostly for dinner, which is served in small bowls of rice sold at roadside stalls or welfare centers. Her teacher and her friends were very worried about her health, as she was often in poor spirits.

Therefore, Xiaoya as long as not to do things, extremely reluctant to go out of the classroom door, find time to lie down on the desk to fake sleep rest. A complete ‘sleeping beauty’.

But then, when playing, she morphs into ‘a living dragon’. Loves to play so much.

High Business One, the young girl slowly adapts to the new experience. Not being in good health, of course, she calls in sick and hangs up from time to time. Her leave slips could be a volume all on their own.

According to the school’s rules – if the number of absences or leaves exceeds a certain limit, the school can order suspension or expulsion; and it is becoming more and more difficult for the teachers to approve the leaves. But Xiaoya didn’t, and the girl passed every time she asked for leave – when she ran out of sick leave, she switched to casual leave; when she exceeded the school’s limit, she was fine.

Xiaoya had always been surprised that her class advisor was so nice to her, just because she was always sick and running to the health center, and didn’t regulate her leaves of absence – even when she lied about skipping class or sneaking out to play.

However, the young girl doesn’t like him – he’s too long-winded, henpecked, and sometimes unreasonable.

For example, the tutor was strongly opposed to the idea that students from the boys’ class should go to Saya’s class to look for someone, that they should not have boyfriends, that they should not organize friendships with outside schools or classes… The students agreed that this idea was really a big departure from democracy and was not in keeping with the ‘spirit of the times’.

Can a teenage girl not afford to be disgusted? Disliking it as much as she did, she was quite grateful for the teacher’s ‘tolerance’ level for the number of days she took off. Beyond the norm.

Xiaoya’s playful and confused personality has made her many friends, and she and her best friends have gradually become the opinion leaders of the class. The four-member cabinet attends class meetings and votes on behalf of the students on many class matters and school affairs that concern their rights and interests.

And the girls will naturally form a small group with each other due to the degree of friendship and familiarity. Aiban is mainly ‘split’ into two major factions, with Xiaoya and the girls holding more than half of the ‘public opinion’.

In her first year of senior high school, the young girl successfully sat on the throne of the Recreation Unit Director, and began to plan school festivals, garden parties, field trips, and other activities, and her work was conscientious, and her popularity was quite good. If not for her resolute resignation, Xiaoya would probably be a ‘Perpetual Recreation’.

The math teacher of Ai’s class in Business and Economics happened to be the level instructor of Hsiao’s class in Information Technology. Because the class he was in charge of was purely male, the teacher tried his best to ‘set up’ a friendship between the Ai and Zhong classes. He mentioned it four times, all of which were rejected at the senior class meeting.

In a half-dream, Ya ‘successfully’ moved on to her second year of high business.

The math teacher had a sudden whim one day. After writing a sphere integral formula on the blackboard, he sighed and said, “Class, I’m afraid I can’t teach you math next semester. So, please reconsider the offer to go out with Hyo’s class, please.”

What a ‘good teacher’ with perseverance and persistence.

The students on the stage were looking at me and at you, each with a different reaction in their hearts.

After class, the head of the Kangle Unit ran to find Xiaoya, who had almost fallen into a coma, and asked, “Since the teacher has said so, it seems that we can’t afford him if we refuse again. What do you think?”

Although the young girl did not get along with the Recreation Unit, public and private matters had to be kept separate – the rights and ‘honor’ of the entire class was at stake.

“Hmmm…” the girl ran her hand through her braid and thought for a moment, “Basically, Miki, I agree with you. Let’s ask the class what they think. If there are no objections, we’ll agree with the teacher.”

When Xiaoya said yes, no one dared to say no, and the provisional resolution was passed overwhelmingly by a majority – in favor of the male friendship with Xiaoban.

However, the head of the recreation department had left the liaison with the boys’ class to Ya, for the strange reason that the class had agreed to it only because of her, and therefore she had nothing to do with it. The girl is forced to become the bridge between the two classes.

The young lady raised her voice, and about two dozen students joined in, which was quite a crowd. Xiaoya took the lead – she was busy coordinating the time, deciding on the location and transportation, as well as avoiding the class director to discuss the details with the other recreation center and the group’s recreational activities.

Things have generally been discussed. Next Sunday morning at 10 o’clock, the place will be the Inner Twin Creeks, Mindland barbecue area, motorcycle transportation. We will meet in front of the school. It’s going to be a big event.

“Wh-what? Miki?” Sayaka’s face turned green and white as she heard Konaku’s words, “You’re saying you can’t ~can’t~ go~? You’re Konaku yeah!”

Maggie shrugged her shoulders indifferently, “I couldn’t help it! Something came up at home that day! Please help me lead the team.”

Easy for you to say. Wouldn’t the girls have no fun if she were to lead instead?

The house is falling apart at the seams. The three ‘best friends’, Xiao-ting, Xiao-mei and Ah-juan, who had strongly supported the teenage girl, have temporarily changed sides – one has been ‘restricted from leaving the country’ by her boyfriend who is in love with her, one has been persuaded to leave by a new boy she has met and is in a relationship with, and the last one has been ordered by her mother to be grounded on a holiday. The last one is grounded by her mom for the holidays. Three of her right-hand men are gone.

Xiaoya had to find her former junior high school classmates to make up the number of people before the crisis was solved.

The ‘plagued’ intramural sorority was waiting for her not too far away!

Chapter 1, Love Birdcage (2) – The six-year love run with no end in sight was a long one, and Sunday finally came, a beautiful sunny day. Xiaoya was happy and sad at the same time – she was happy that God was very kind to her. The sun was shining, and if you rode a motorcycle, you didn’t have to worry about the rain. It’s a bummer.

What makes her sad is that her flawless skin may be like Xiao Qiang’s, with the strong sunlight and the amazing UV index, not to mention sunburn and tanning, but also dark spots – how many cans of SKII would be needed to whiten it back? What’s more, where was the SKII at that time?

While her heart ached, the young girl could only pray that everything went as she had hoped and that her classmates had a good time. The problem of her skin color, leave it to time to become a beautician.

As the leader of the girls, Xiaoya was at the school gate early. A large group of boys from Xiaoban arrived one after another, and twenty-four motorcycles of varying sizes and CC numbers were parked at the exit of the school gate. The rumbling of the engines attracted particular attention.

The girls arrived sporadically in twos and threes. At five minutes past ten, the young girl, seeing that the number of people should be almost complete, began to take roll call with the boys’ class, Conrad.

Xiaoya scrutinized the other party’s lineup – how come the older ones were older and the younger ones were younger? Curious, she found out that there was also a ‘senior’ older brother of twenty-six years old who had also been invited to join in the festivities! She was speechless…

Both sides are sending a mix of members – all for the sake of headcount.

“Hyoban Kangle, are you all here in full numbers?”

“Twenty-four, just about. What about your class?”

“Also twenty-four. One in a car.”

The young girl was about to announce how the people, cars and order of departure would be distributed when a familiar looking figure walked out of the school entrance.

The man yelled at the top of his voice, “What are you people doing here? The sound of two dozen motorcycles is deafening! What are you doing? Do you want to race?”

Xiaoya immediately recognized the man – the tutor of their love class! He was on duty today! What bad luck! How did we get caught?

“No, teacher! We’re going out to play!” A female student responded first.

“Going out? I thought I forbade you to go out with other boys?” The teacher looked displeased, a thick frown on her face.

The girl quickly jumped out, “Teacher, those boys are from Information Hyo’s class, they’re not from a foreign school.”

Sayaka then told her mentor the reason for this, and he had a slightly kinder look on his face.

“Was it Mr. Fang from Hyo’s class who made the offer? Alright, I’ll leave it at that. For this event, who will lead the team?” The class guide’s eyes shone with a sharp gaze.

The girl smiled and said, “It’s me! Sensei! I’ll be responsible for the safety of every student in the class.”

“Then… you guys have a good time! Be careful on the way!” The grade instructor turned his head and left for the school grounds.

Xiao Ya lightly spat out her tongue, ”Phew, that was close! Teacher really trusts people!” After the shock was over, the band officer’s confidence returned.

She greeted the assembled schoolgirls and raffled off the keys to determine which motorcycle each would ride. Ya picked the back seat of the twenty-six year old boy.

“Big brother, ma please make sure you keep your speed at the end of the convoy to make sure no one gets out of line.” The experienced girl commanded.

“Good! No problem.” The man riding the Light Sun 125 nodded his head in agreement.

The responsible girl followed her classmates’ cars and stared at them with fear and trepidation, not daring to relax at all. Along the way, she kept talking to the big brother in the front seat, hoping that he would pay more attention to the movements in front of him; she had no intention of appreciating the beautiful meandering streams and green and sparse mountain scenery along the roadside.

When the group rode to the entrance of Mindland, Xiaoya rushed to the ticket booth to buy admission tickets, organize the group and picnic equipment. She was running all over the field, full of energy, unlike her usual sleepy self.

The young woman gathered her men and the whole group drove into the barbecue area by the river, taking the spot closest to the water source. One by one, the groups were assigned their locations, and then they began to set up piles of rocks and nets to build fires.

The boys in Ya’s group followed the spirit of ‘drilling wood for fire’ and never used what is commonly known as ‘atomic charcoal’ or ‘a little bit of spirit’ to bake charcoal for meat. He would just take a sharp stick of wood and drill and grind it against the grooves in the block of wood.

Oddly enough, the boy’s point of impact was actually in the damp area of the wood, and there wasn’t even any smoke, let alone visible sparks.

The other groups had already built roaring fires, and there was the smell of meat. Her group was still making no progress, and Xiaoya was sulking.

The girl just couldn’t watch, “Hey! Classmate, can you do it or not?”

“Just a little more, just a little more!” He killed himself not to give up.

Xiaoya picked up another piece of wood and the pointed stick, “Otherwise, let’s race to see who succeeds first!” She also made an effort to drill the wood.

“Huh, what? How come your group hasn’t started baking yet?” The boys’ voices suddenly sounded behind her.

The boy who had spoken out walked to the right rear of Sayaka and squatted down. He asked again, “Hey, how long are you going to do this? Do you need any help? We’ve got some meat on the grill over there, so we’ll bring you over to eat it, okay?”

The girl didn’t even bother to reply, because that kind of speech was not only flippant, but clearly looked down on girls! Quite rude. She buried her head and continued to start the fire, turning a deaf ear and ignoring him.

The fire was finally up, and Ya and the girls began to turn the meat over. The boy was still following the girls, talking endlessly. It was annoying!

“My name is Man, we’ve actually met before. I’m a friend of Avi, a classmate of yours from National Primary School; I ran into you on the graduation trip that year and I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind. I’ve been watching you for a long time.”

It was only when Xiaoya heard this that she turned to look at him. She had a look of disbelief, with question marks and exclamation points all over her face.

The boy smiled, “You’re finally looking at me.”

“Please! I’m not remembering anything at all! I don’t have a super memory like you do, can you please go back to your group?” The girl got angry.

Knowing that the situation was not good, Man hurriedly retreated and slipped back to his original position, from time to time inclining his head to peek at Xiaoya’s side.

A few slices of the flavorful roast calmed the girl down quite a bit. She was about to sit down on a rock next to the stream to rest when a female classmate approached her.

“Saya, when I go back in the evening… can I go back on someone else’s motorcycle instead?”

“Why? Ru?”

“Because, the boy who drove me, he was going so fast! I screamed all the way to Mindoro. I was scared…”

“Who is it? So hateful!” The young girl was righteously indignant.

She pointed at Man in the distance: “That’s him!”

Is it that psychopath who’s been recognizing people? Ya’s head hurts again.

The girl stood up, “Ru, I’ll go talk about it. I’ll tell you when it’s done speaking.”

What’s wrong with today, always encountering difficult things? Xiaoya made up her mind and went straight to the boy who loves to ride fast bikes.

She walked up to Mann: “I’m sorry, did you just give that girl a ride?”

The young girl pointed a finger with her hand, remotely at the frightened Ru.

“That’s right. It’s her! So what?” The boy’s tone remained arrogant.

Xiaoya was furious: “So what? Your name is Mann, right? Please listen to me! You’re riding too fast, that girl is going to cry!”

Mann was indifferent, and bristled, “Who told her to ride in my car? Don’t take it if you’re not brave enough! If not, I’ll take the car back later!” His attitude is very strong.

What the hell! She was even more furious, this man was so macho! If he doesn’t give her a ride, does he want Ru to walk back to school by herself?

“Words can’t say that! Can’t you just ride a little slower?” The girl argued.

“I’m sorry, I’m used to riding fast; slow would be unsteady instead.” The boy was unrelenting.

Xiao Ya blushed: “You… are too bossy!”

“There’s another way, I’ll give you a ride! I’m only willing to give you a ride.” Arwen said without blushing or gasping. It was premeditated.

The young girl pondered hard in her mind, prioritizing Ruu’s safety. “Okay..! I promise you! You can’t ride too fast!”

The boy smiled wryly, “Don’t worry, I know!”

After this, there was the other end – the senior man who had brought Ya here.

She pulled Ru, “Uh…, big brother, could you please drive this girl beside me back?”

“Why?” The man turned around, sounding very nasty.

When men and women get together – especially when traveling by locomotive, it is considered rude for the woman to change her car, no matter if she is traveling to or from the destination. For a guy, his self-esteem can be ‘seriously’ undermined.

Fight.

Xiaoya said good and bad, the man only dismayed reluctantly accepted her explanation, his face is still very ugly.

As the sun was about to set, the Business and Economics Ai Class and Information Filial Piety Class hooked up and brought back all the members. The reddish sunlight stretched out the returning figures for a long time.

“Yeah? Arwen-san, you ride a Vespa?” The girl asked in surprise.

How can a tiny 50cc motorcycle scare the crap out of someone?

The boy’s nasal voice grunted, “It’s a modified car. Not only has the engine been rebuilt, the exhaust pipe has been thickened, and it runs like a normal 125cc motorcycle.” He was very proud of it.

After hearing this, Xiaoya began to beg the ‘heavenly public uncle’ to ensure  that she would return home ‘in one piece’.

Ah Wen ignored the young girl’s request to ‘follow the last of the two classes’, and ran and snaked all the way. Xiaoya didn’t dare to hug him or hold his shoulders, and there was no lever behind the seat cushion for support. The poor girl’s excellent sense of balance alone, with the car body left and right, up and down bumps, simply riding a roller coaster!

She was scared and angry – not to mention the fact that she couldn’t argue with him while the locomotive was speeding along. Ya held back her anger and waited for him to get off safely.

As soon as Wen’s car arrived at the vacant lot in front of the school, the girl realized that some people had come back before her – including the twenty-six year old brother and Ru!

Xiaoya realized that Ru’s face was as white as paper, and her legs were still shaking: “Ru, are you okay?”

“I…, Ya, I don’t want to participate in this kind of association anymore…” she said, her eyes misty.

The young girl swears in front of Ru’s eyes that she will never host a similar biker club again!

The socialization had just ended, and Saya’s troubles returned. …

A few days later, on a quiet Friday afternoon.

She had just woken up from a nap, her mind in a daze and trance. Suddenly a phone rang, no longer calm lo.

My sister yelled, “Ya! The phone! It’s your junior high school classmate, A-hwa!” No boys are allowed to call in at home.

“Hello~? Awa? It’s me~” she had a breathless look of being about to be recalled by Choukou.

“Xiaoya? I’m telling you, that guy who drove you back from the last socialization was so handsome! Everyone said he was handsome and tall!” A-hwa blurted out the words excitedly.

Is it? She doesn’t think so. Zhou Gong is more handsome in dreams, right?

“It’s like this! I’d like you to ask for his name and phone number for me, I’d like to be friends with him. Please! …” She resorted to her pouting tactics, but the young girl was at her wit’s end.

Xiaoya continued to chirp, “Okay, okay. I just know that his name is Fumi, and that he’s a student in our school’s Information Technology class. I’ll find time to ask him the rest, okay?”

A-hwa thanked her repeatedly and hung up the phone gratefully. Six years of love had sprouted from this phone call.

A girl is entrusted with the task of being loyal to others. Before class, the girl finds Mann through Kon Lok, a senior student, and meets him in the stairwell at the end of the second class.

“I have a junior high school classmate who likes you a lot, so I’m asking you on her behalf – can you give me your address and phone number?” The girl got right to the point and made it clear.

The boy laughed, “Give you the address number? I can! But I’ll only write it to you.” He copied it to Ya with alacrity.

She called Ava at her workplace as soon as she got out of school to resume her assignment, which was accomplished.

On Monday, the next week, in the first class, KANG LOK, the classmate, approached SIA through a pipeline – A-MAN had something urgent to do, see you in the same place after class.

The girl was baffled, ‘What happened again?’ She went to her appointment full of questions.

“Ya! Didn’t I tell you that the phone was addressed to you?” Arwen spluttered out the words.

The young girl returned, “It’s my former junior high school classmate who wants to get to know you! That’s why I asked you for your phone number. I told you!”

“There’s a girl who calls my house every five minutes on Saturday afternoons when I happen to be away helping with home deliveries. My mom was going crazy just answering the phone! Yesterday, there was another afternoon… The call wasn’t from you, was it?”

Sayaka shook her head and denied it, “I don’t do that kind of thing! I don’t do that! I was resting those two afternoons, so I wasn’t at home, so how could I have called?”

Arwen suddenly remembered, “Ah~! It couldn’t be your junior high school classmate, could it? Ya?”

‘Awa?’ The young woman’s thoughts turned, ‘She oh…, 80%.’

“If it’s her, she’s just trying to make friends with you, there’s nothing malicious about it.”

She said something irrelevant and beat a hasty retreat. It was so stressful to talk to Man. One hundred and eighty centimeters tall, a high wall.

The next day, when she woke up from her sleep, Xiaoya took her cell phone and looked directly for A-hua, who had just returned home.

“A-hwa, it’s me, Ya. You’re out of your mind! I gave you Ah Man’s number, why do you greet him once every five minutes? The buses don’t even start as fast as you do!”

The person on the other end of the microphone is always shouting, “It’s a misunderstanding! I couldn’t find him! His family asked me to call back later. So I did…”

“What a defeat! Your ‘later’ is only five minutes?” The young girl cried and laughed, “If you’re so ‘juggling’, it’d be strange if all the handsome guys aren’t scared away by you!”

Wah had to say, “Why don’t you… teach me how to do it, okay?”

“You don’t know him well enough to approach him with such a high frequency, it will only increase his antipathy towards you in vain. You have to gain his trust in a gradual way, so that he gets used to having you around, and then the next step will be easy ah.”

“Oh! I see…”

“Stop being ‘oh’. Since you like Man, you have to take your chances and don’t miss him! Understand?” The girl cheered for her former classmate.

When the phone hung up, Sayaka felt a sense of disappointment. Never mind, let’s go to class first… The young girl walked into the classroom, sat down in her desk and chair, and habitually fumbled with her books before putting them in the drawer.

‘Yay? Another letter from him?’ She pulled her hand out, a light yellow letterhead, emitting an eerie dark fragrance floating around.

It’s the twelfth seal. That boy from the same department in the daytime division, Chi, shared this table and chair with her on a staggered basis. At first, out of fun and wanting to get to know Ya. Every four or five days.

The two would meet by chance before classes in the night division, but would do no more than nod and say hello. Writing letters was sort of a game. It didn’t feel bad. By now, it was getting serious.

The girl opened the letterhead and read it carefully, ‘What? Asking me to go to the movies? This boy is really bold! Anyway, there are a few good movies lately, so I’d like to take the time to see them. I’m sure it’s fine if I have a companion to pay for it, and, uh…, I’ll bring Kuen along as a buffer.’

She immediately wrote back and promised Chi that she would meet him at the Presidential Theater in Ximending this Saturday afternoon – the man’s treat and the girl’s wait. I’m going to eat him up.

Ya put the written letter back in the drawer and smiled as she prepared the stationery for class. ┅The two who were extremely interested in the young girl were not the only ones, Ah Man and Ah Chee. Ying from the Information Technology class was also after her. Not only did he ask her classmates for her home address, he followed her to and from school – even up to the stairwell of Xiao Ya’s apartment, almost ringing the doorbell to say ‘hello’ to her!

The girl is quite unsympathetic to this aggressive method of pursuing her love. She avoids him whenever she sees him, and when she leaves school, she moves with her classmates, never leaving her alone. Ying realizes that it’s hard to make progress, and she sticks to him even more fiercely.

The headache of her loyal class has not yet been ‘solved’, and with two more boys, Chi and Man, how would Ya know what to do with them? She hadn’t even been touched by the call.

The two competed against each other for months on end.

Ying and Man are much smarter than the last number one suitor – they know how to use public opinion to put pressure on the young girl. Surrounding the center with the local.

Ah Wen is all over the place – saying how much he likes and loves Xiao Ya, but the girl doesn’t respond at all. He even hints to Xiao Ya many times, and she helps his former classmate Ah Hua to make a match, but the person he really loves is Xiao Ya. Why doesn’t she accept him?

As a result, her three best friends, Xiao-ting, Xiao-mei, and Ah-juan, have turned their backs on Wen, whispering in Xiaoya’s ear about how loving, nice, and handsome Wen is, and blaming her for being ‘uncaring and ungrateful’.

The young girl heard it all backwards and forwards, and she has her own measuring stick in her heart. What you say is your business – I’m the one with the boyfriend.

Even more dramatically – one Saturday night, Ya was watching a videotape and enjoying herself when the sound of a loud phone call interrupted her.

“Hello? Ya, right? It’s Wah!” She couldn’t help but feel a little surprised inside.

The girl answered, “What’s up? A-hwa, did you get that handsome guy?”

“The same old thing, ignoring people. I’m not interested anymore…”

“Yeah, there are so many good boys, just look again!” The young girl consoled.

“Yeah oh! I think Man always mentions you on the phone. I don’t think… he’s in love with you, right?” Ava trailed off, posing as if she was inquisitive.

Saya was embarrassed: “No, no, no, no! Don’t be ridiculous…”

“‘Selling Fake’! I guess you like him too! You must be right! If you keep pretending, you won’t look like him!”

“If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll ignore you!”

They ended the call as Ava laughed out loud. Ya really didn’t understand herself, she became a betrayer of her friends?

One of the things that Ah Man deeply ‘admired’ about Xiaoya was his patience. As the girl often worked night shifts in the company, she would not even have breakfast after the handover. He asked one of his female classmates to call Siu-Ya and find out when she was off duty; he waited for her at the exit of her company early in the morning, sent her to breakfast, and then drove her home to sleep; and when she had to go to class, he rushed from the school to pick her up. For months, he never stopped.

However, the thing that ‘baffled’ her was – how did he know her home phone number?

To date, it is still a ‘headless case’.

Ah Man’s offense is slowly working. Carefully, he notices that there is a classmate in the Business Management class who has a good relationship with Xiaoya – Xiao Ping, a working girl and much older than him. The boy did not do anything, and simply worshiped Pinkie as his ‘god-sister’. Cheap.

Naturally, Sayaka’s ears had been augmented with a sound amplifier.

Ah Ying was naturally not a lightweight. He similarly adopted the strategy of ‘direct attack’.

“Sister Ping, if you can help me chase after Xiaoya, I’ll buy you a cup of coffee.”

These words galvanized Xiao Ping’s fighting spirit of wanting to ‘send these boys and girls into a pile’ and ‘black and white match’. She was always preaching the benefits of Ah Wen and Ah Ying together wherever Xiaoya existed, more so than Xiao Ting and the others. This is called ‘brainwashing’, according to the young girl!

The girl later turned to hear the agreement between Ying and Ping sister ‘a cup of coffee theory’, simply could not believe their ears! She really wanted to find some time to get rid of that anger in her heart.

“Ya, isn’t Ying asking you to go shopping and watch a movie at the Mingyao Spring Department Store tomorrow? See how much he is devoted to you, why do you keep on treating him…” Pim’s ‘hypnotizing technique’ started again.

The girl couldn’t help but say back: “My sister Ping, don’t push Ying so hard just for a cup of coffee, okay? Our friendship is not enough for a pot of coffee? If you want to buy several cups, I can treat you.”

“Come on, I was just being nice.” She looked innocent.

“I know best if Aying is good or not! Sister Ping.” The girl smiled.

The duel between the two rivals is on the rise, and Xiaoya is watching. She leaves it to time to decide which is better or worse.

After more than two months, Xiaoya asked someone to tell Ying that she couldn’t stand his full-court press and sentenced Ying to a three-strikeout, and asked him not to ‘mess around’ with her again. But the boy doesn’t give up until a three-way statement from a high school businessman says he’s giving up.

Although the two tigers are competing with each other, Xiaoya still goes out with Zhi quite a few times, and has been concealing their relationship from both parents. The boy is quite chauvinistic – as long as he buys snacks, regardless of whether she loves them or not, he stipulates that they must be eaten in front of him; he also restricts her to not doing this, not eating that, and must do everything according to his ideas.

He sees Ya as his girlfriend and has to go along with everything he asks for.

She was tired of dealing with it. Are they a couple?

She left her home phone number with him for ease of contact. She told him that if he wanted to find her, he must not do it himself, or something would go wrong.

However, a date at a ZTE department store vaguely planted the bane of their breakup.

The trio of Xiaoya, Zhi and Juan went to the underground food court for steak after the movie. According to the rules of the food stall, when the steak is served in front of the customer, he should pay the bill – but not the boy, who just ate with his head down, waving his knife and fork, completely ignoring the guy who was waiting to collect the money. The old monk was in meditation.

Ajuan and Xiaoya looked at each other and shook their heads. Xiao Ya automatically took out her purse to pay for the meal. Ah Zhi, however, did not show anything ─ the young girl’s evaluation of him, suddenly ‘fell down’.

As they sat on the bus on the way back, Kuen muttered, “Xiaoya! Why don’t you just ‘cut it out’ with him?”

The girl smiled hopelessly-Maybe. She wanted to watch and see.

What disappointed Xiaoya even more was his cowardly mentality that did not match his machismo.

On a Sunday, Chi asked a young girl to come to his house to play while his parents were not at home. The two were chatting happily in his upstairs room when Chi’s sister, Shuhui, suddenly knocked on the door.

“Brother, it’s me…” she flashed into the room, her face not looking good.

Chi followed with a panicked look, “What’s wrong?”

“Oh no! Mom and Dad are home, I heard them talking and opening the door. If they see you here, they’ll break your legs!”

The young girl questioned, “If you treat me like a girlfriend, why don’t you introduce me formally to your parents? Chi?”

“My dad won’t allow me to get a girlfriend too early, so if he finds out, I’ll get a good thrashing ah! It’s not like there’s a back door in the house to send Xiaoya away. What should I do?” He was extremely afraid of paternal authority.

Anxious to jump.

The girl held back her anger – invited by Chi to play, and she had to sneak around? And she’s afraid that she’ll be criticized for it, without any consideration for her position?

His sister was quick-witted, “How about this. Xiaoya, you look like a junior high school student, so I’ll let you act as my classmate. Please save my brother!”

The young girl can only agree and follows Suki into her room. As soon as Chi’s mom and dad step into the living room, Shuhui pretends to send Ya back, the girl holding a typewriter in her hand.

“Is this…?” They did ask.

“She’s a classmate of mine who came to the house especially to borrow a typewriter from me.” The national high school girl clarified. Ya’s play was to nod.

They said goodbye at the door, “So… I’ll come and return the typewriter tomorrow. Bye!” The two of them really had a knack for acting.

The young girl escaped in one piece and saved Chi’s life.

Ya returned the typewriter as promised and, thereafter, paid no further attention to any of the boy’s invitations.

Chapter 1, Love Birdcage (3)-The six-year love run without an end a few days later.

At noon on Sunday, Ya’s mother was preparing lunch.

‘Ring…’ She heard the phone ring and hurriedly rushed out to answer it.

“Hello? What’s your name?”

A boy’s timid voice: “Excuse me… is Saya home?”

Mom was upset when she heard it was a young man, “No la! Ihm Le Alcune, you looking for Iwu Shrimp Dai Chi?”

The person on the other end didn’t say anything and hung up the phone without a word.

She put down the microphone suspiciously, what did this ‘cha pro’ want? There was no answer.

Mother shook her head and turned back to the kitchen to cook – as if the caller was ‘Shaw’.

Just waking up, Xiaoya rubbed her sleepy eyes, stretched, and looked to see that Mom wasn’t outside, walking into the living room with confidence.

The phone rang loudly again, and the young girl snatched the call and ‘intercepted’ it to avoid letting her parents get it.

It was the tone of a young girl, “Is Ms. Sayaka here, please? …”

“I am. Which… are you?”

She answered back, “I’m Shuhui, Ya’s sister. Chi’s sister.”

“Eh? Suki, what’s up? Why are you calling?”

Chi’s sister sighed softly, “I feel sorry for my brother and want to think about helping him out.

“The purpose is clear – to be a lobbyist.

“I think your brother asked you to call, right?” Xiaoya pressed her resentment, unwilling to tear her face off.

Shuhui tensed up, “No, I didn’t! I was the one who volunteered to try to persuade you to make up with my brother.

Ever since you ignored him, it’s been hard for me to see him all day long, looking distracted and sighing. So…”

“Shuhui, you saw how Chi treated me that day! Do you think he handled it the right way? Instead of facing the problem calmly, he used deception to temporarily avoid the elders’ criticism; in the long run, I’m afraid it won’t be good for the progress of our relationship.”

The junior high school girl defended: “Xiaoya sister, my brother is just a moment of chaos, do not know how to control the scene ah.”

“I don’t understand – how much weight do I have in Chi’s mind? He doesn’t care about my situation just to prevent himself from getting hurt. Then, when it comes to other situations, will Chi also prioritize his own interests and leave me alone? I don’t feel safe at all!” The girl had already voiced the unhappiness she had been hoarding for days.

“Sister Sia…, when you ask…” Shuhui was a bit overwhelmed, “I can’t answer for him…”

The young woman shook her head, “I have nothing more to say to your brother. I hope Chi he can figure out why people don’t want to continue the relationship.”

“Ugh..! Well, Sister Saya, I’ll pass on your thoughts to my brother. He’s not a person who gives up easily…”

Sayaka nodded, “That I understand. I will talk to him if necessary.”

“Well…, it’ll have to do…” said Suk Hwi in disappointment as she said goodbye. With a ‘ka’ sound, she cut the connection.

The young girl exhaled deeply and quietly, her mood was like a moldy quilt that had been in storage for four or five months.

Zhi is truly undeterred. Even though his sister failed in her first mission, he still ‘keeps going’

, three or four days in a row to call personally, trying to win back Xiaoya. Unfortunately, they were all received by the girl’s mom, and the boy was naturally too scared to make a sound and ended the call hastily.

The last call was even worse, answered by Ya’s father. Now that the ‘no boys on the phone’ rule is gone, her mother tells him about the strange phone call she received earlier. The two sides of the coin – their daughter is definitely having a boyfriend behind their backs!

Her loving father is furious and yells at her. The young girl runs back to her room, and while crying, she plays detective and begins to deduce – who really did this to her?

Mann would call occasionally, but they were all answered by Ya’s sister, a stroke of luck she couldn’t believe. Who could it be? Could it be…? It’s him! It’s Chi!

She was sure of the source of the call, and when no one was in the living room, she picked up the microphone and pressed Chi’s home phone number, ready to ask for clarification.

After the bell rang three or four times, “Hello~, who may I speak to?” The young girl asked.

“You’re Shuhui, right? I’m Xiaoya. Is your brother there?”

The junior high school girl was surprised: “Xiaoya, have you changed your mind?”

“No. I have something to ask your brother, please put him on the phone…”

When Shuhui heard that, it probably couldn’t be good. But it was hard to probe him to find out what he had done wrong… “Wait a minute… I’ll go and see if he’s gone out yet.” She went upstairs to look for Chi.

Chi opened the door and whispered, “Sis, who is it?”

“Sister Ya. But it doesn’t seem right… Brother, are you sure you want to answer it?”

“Of course I’m going to pick it up! I must find out what she wants!” He went downstairs quickly and went straight to the telephone.

The young girl jumped out of her head and said, “Chi, did you call me at home? Did you call me at home and not tell me who you were? When you heard I wasn’t home, you hung up the phone?”

“I…” the boy stuttered, “Yes… yes ohh…, your parents’ tone made me nervous and I didn’t know how to reply, so I had to…”

Xiaoya was upset: “I told you – I didn’t give you the number to call; I asked the other girls to do it for you! My family is very sensitive to phone calls from boys, they ask questions. Besides, you ignored my parents’ questions and cut the line, which gave me a hard time, you know?”

“Yes… I’m sorry!” The boy only apologized, “I just wanted to get your heart back…”

The girl cried softly and calmly, “Chi, you are months late in saying ‘I’m sorry’. At this point in our relationship, there is nothing more to say…”

“Saya! ┅Don’t you think about it more?”

“No, I’ve thought about it too much. The two of us aren’t right for each other, so let’s just be normal friends.”

She had to cut through that distortion.

“Okay…, I won’t say anything more…” the boy was still trying to maintain his last flimsy shred of ‘dignity’.

She heard Chi’s choked, nasal voice, “Goodbye.” Quite determined.

Xiaoya put down the phone, the tears that filled her eyes welled up ungratefully, ‘It’s good to let go! A kite that has its strings wrapped around its arm will never fly high.”

She wiped the remaining tears from the corners of her eyes – at least, there was still Man. Until now, the girl’s opinion of him was not bad, and he took care of her; only, he also belonged to the ‘macho’ type. Xiaoya slowly tied her thoughts to him.

The two were paired up on campus, and students, teachers, and instructors all watched, and everyone gradually took it as a matter of course, turning them into a recognized ‘school pair’. A day without seeing them crossing the playground affectionately, many people were uncomfortable.

The girl is extremely secretive about her relationship with her boyfriend, but she can’t stop her neighbors from gossiping about her. The news reaches Xiaoya’s mother – her daughter has a rich boyfriend without her knowledge – the whole school knows about it, but the mother is kept in the dark?

The jealous mother began to make snide remarks in front of the girl again – ‘My daughter is getting older, why don’t she just go and live with her rich boyfriend’, ‘You have a boyfriend, but you don’t dare to tell your family’…, and even criticized her in front of Xiao Ya’s father.

At the end of that year she and her mother erupted into arguments several times, and the teenager just couldn’t take it anymore. Once New Year’s Day rolled around, Ya secretly invited her father, who was entertaining guests, into a corner to talk.

“Dad! I’m moving out!” She was straight up stating, “If Mom keeps making a scene like that, people will go crazy!”

My father was dumbfounded, and only after a while did he say, “That’s not good! The first day of the new calendar year, you called out to move the house, not good!”

“But…” the girl cried, “Mom can’t stand my daughter…”

Dad tried to persuade her, but to no avail – Ya was determined. He had to give her his word.

History repeats itself. A destiny that cannot be avoided.

Xiaoya still asks her junior high school classmate Ajuan to help her move her luggage to another friend’s house, but she instead goes to live at Wen’s house – when she works the night shift, the boy is still asleep; after Xiaoya gets off from work, Wen wakes up to pick her up from work; and when the girl is asleep, he goes to work in the family business. The timing of the two just happened to be staggered.

After a few days, once Xiaoya got off work, she saw her aunt waiting for her in front of the company.

“Ya! Are you doing well out there?” Auntie shushed.

The girl only nodded her head, “Yes, Auntie, it’s okay. How’s my dad? He’s not skipping meals again, is he?”

“Your dad and I have chastised your mom and she hasn’t dared say anything back. Plus, everyone wants you to come home and to bring your boyfriend to show us.” She suggested.

Xiaoya smiled, “Well then, wow! Anyway, the time to let him ‘come to light’ has come! Auntie, I’ll just move back tomorrow.”

She finished waving goodbye to her aunt when Arvin arrived in front of her on his motorcycle.

“Man, I’ll be moving back home tomorrow, so could you please help me send my bags along? By the way make you visible to my family.”

The boy agreed with a “hmm”. Man gestured with his hand for the girl to get on the motorcycle and leave in the direction of his house.

Xiaoya returns home, accompanied by Wen who is formally introduced by her to her parents and visiting relatives.

Judging and looking up and down is unavoidable.

The young girl’s uncle, who knew a little about face reading, simply said, “‘Pipe, bad pipe feeder'”.

“The Boyfriend’s Handsome!” (Boyfriends are handsome and very difficult to master later)

Xiaoya did not take Uncle’s assertion seriously. Unexpectedly, it came true.

After the girl’s parents had seen the man, they acquiesced that Man was her boyfriend. Not ‘explicitly’ stopping them from seeing each other.

Originally always opposed to male and female students to fall in love with the love class director, from the side of the news learned that Xiaoya and Ah Wen feelings between the hot, specially to find young girls to meet, understand the situation.

“Xiaoya, I heard from Mr. Chen, the computer teacher, that you’re a couple with Wen from Hsiao’s class. I heard that the male student is quite nice, your family won’t object, right?”

“No, my parents and they know. Please don’t worry, teacher.” The girl returned frankly, having nothing to hide.

He smiled, not pursuing the matter. One eye open, one eye closed.

Xiaoya and Wen often went to Bali, Danshui Shalun, and Baishawan to watch the sky, listen to the sea, and count the stars. Although they were fixed points, each footprint was a picture that could be printed. Roasted meat in Shimen Cave, sipping tea under the pavilion – that kind of occasional leisure and peace of mind, accompanied by the boy’s double wheels, all over Northern Taiwan. Love, deep feelings, leaking into the sky’s haze, penetrating into the dreams woven by the young girl.

The parents of the two sides also interacted with each other, and Wen’s mother treated Xiaoya as if she were her future daughter-in-law.

Machismo is everywhere in his words and actions, but fortunately, the boy who has studied boxing does not resort to violence. He wants to transform Ya, step by step, by his hand, to conform to his ideals, to honor him, to obey his wishes.

Ya is not entirely obedient, and the two often have small quarrels about it.

First semester of senior year, cold November. Arvin asked a girl out for the evening. At seven o’clock, Ya packed her clothes and waited for him to pick her up. She peered down at the distant sound of a low engine, a heavy NSR motorcycle pulling up to the downstairs door. He’s coming.

The young girl opened the door and invited him in. Wen greeted Aya’s father, who was watching TV in the living room, and then accompanied her into the girl’s room.

“Xiaoya, when we take the Beiyi Highway later, I’ll take you to worship the ‘Eighteen Princes’ temple. I heard it’s very spiritual. The day before yesterday, didn’t I help you pick out that long, narrow, black, high-forked dress? You’ll wear it.” Ah Wen liked to see girls wearing skirts.

Her face suddenly changed, “It’s so late… and you’re going so far away? And I have to wear a skirt and sit in the back seat? It’s cold!”

The boy got angry: “Are you going to change into a dress or not?” He was very angry and very loud.

“I’m sorry, I don’t want to go out tonight!” Xiaoya wouldn’t budge either, grumpy as a bull.

They argued for half a day with no result. Seeing that his girlfriend wouldn’t give in, Man was so angry that he twisted around and headed for the door of his room.

“Not going, huh? Then forget it!” He slammed the door of the room-‘bang’!

Wen was furious and took a big stride out of Xiaoya’s house. He got on his motorcycle and accelerated away.

He races whenever he’s in a bad mood.

The teenage girl’s father stifled a wordless sigh as he inclined his head toward the door of his daughter’s room.

Sometimes the girls don’t like Man’s hobby of racing bikes, so they limit his riding speed and don’t allow him to rush on dates. The boys are willing to cooperate, and nothing happens. It’s only the occasional disagreement that makes Ya feel slightly exhausted.

On the other hand, there were many other girls around Man – like god-sisters, schoolgirls, etc., which were very colorful. She kept it all to herself, hoping with all her heart that his heart would stay with her.

After the two graduated, the girl continued to work while the boy stayed at home to help out. The relationship grows steadily, and since Man’s parents often go down south to take care of business, she sometimes acts as a cook, taking care of the boy’s and his brother’s basic livelihood – food.

The boy even treats the girl as his ‘exclusive’ because of this, and even though he knows that Xiaoya can’t be easily turned into the finished product he wants to sculpt, he still forcefully instills in her the notion that she has to be submissive to him.

Ya’s mom and dad watch from the sidelines and often express their displeasure at Man’s overbearing attitude. The young girl sticks to her vision, and even though she is imprisoned by the birdcage of love, she still wants to love.

How real is his love for her, which waxes and wanes? Is it worth her dedication and persistence?

Is she the one for him?

And even if it wasn’t, she loved him─forbearance, skepticism, a smile with tears. A slice of sandwich cookie. Sweet and sour.

When Man was nineteen years old, the yellow calendar told him that he was destined to be born in the year of too many years. The boy does not believe in this and plans to go on a motorcycle trip around Taiwan with his three best friends. Before the trip, Ah Man’s mother, who was very protective of her son, asked him to take a peace talisman from a temple; he refused to hang it on his neck and insisted that his friend, who was sitting in the back seat, put it around his neck, as a kind of ‘explanation’ to his mother.

A week later, Ya went to visit Man’s house and waited for him to come home. According to the original schedule, he did not return on time. Her heart was hanging in mid-air, fifteen buckets shaking – all at once.

The boy’s parents were pacing anxiously back and forth in the living room when a phone call interrupted the tense atmosphere.

“Hello? I am! …what? …good! Good! I’ll be right there!” His father answered the phone and looked grave. He then muttered half-heartedly in a low voice with his mother beside him.

Man’s mom asked, “Should I tell Saya? …”

The man nodded, “She has a right to know, let me do the talking.” He walks towards the young girl.

“Uncle, is something wrong?” She blinked.

“Xiaoya, I have some bad news for you-Arwen had a car accident there in Taitung and suffered a blow to the brain! The police have sent him to Taitung City Hospital, his life may be in danger!”

The girl’s face was bloodless, “This…? Uncle, I want to go over there to see him and take care of him, is that possible?”

“You array have a heart, count me as not having loved you for nothing!” Arwen’s mother squeezed out a smile, “Let’s just fight against the past!”

Xiaoya picks up the phone and tells her family about Wen’s car accident, explaining that she will accompany his family to Taitung to take care of him.

“What? Xiaoya, you’re only Yi’s girlfriend, you’re not married to him, so there’s no need to do anything about it!” Her father was against it.

The young girl sobbed lowly, “Abba, if you don’t let me go, I’ll absolutely cry out of worry every day, and you’ll be sad to see it! You might as well let me go!”

He couldn’t ‘fight’ his daughter’s tears and had to allow her to make the trip.

She and Wen’s family arrived in Taitung by night train and rushed to the city hospital. The girl walked, trembling, to the side of the seriously injured man – in a blur, the boy, bandaged and in pain, was still in a clear state of mind. The three boys traveling with Wen were also with him.

“Dad… and Mom… …Saya? What are you doing here? …” The boy was quite surprised.

The young woman caressed his face, “I care about you. Because you need me…”

“I don’t want you to see me in this sorry, helpless state!” Arwen said stubbornly.

Xiaoya could only smile bitterly – this person is really serious about his face.

The attending physician came over to discuss the boys’ condition with their families, holding the freshly released X-rays and brain tomography scan reports.

“Your son’s external injuries are not serious. What worries me is the contusion on his brain. According to the results of the tomography scan, your son has an intracranial hemorrhage and is unable to stop the bleeding on his own. If we don’t operate to remove the blood clots, his life may be in danger.”

When Mann heard this, he yelled, “What are the chances of success? Will I die on the operating table?”

“Young man, please believe in my skills!” The doctor said seriously: “The operation has not yet taken place, you should first think about whether you can live for the people who love you, rather than thinking about whether you will die or not!”

The boy’s parents and the doctor decide to operate on him the next morning as there is no room for further delay. When Man is confronted with death, he is at a loss for words; the young girl urges him to relax and accept the challenge.

“Ya, will you wait for me to leave the surgery tomorrow?” He was scared.

“Idiot! Of course people will!”

“In case the operation fails, I…”

“Don’t think about it so much for now, close your eyes well and sleep, the next day you’ll have the strength to fight for being alive!” She coaxed him to sleep like a child.

The girl was sleepless, so she asked what happened to Wen’s friend’s car accident.

That afternoon, two heavy motorcycles were traveling on a county road. Suddenly, two taxis were rushing towards the four of them! Thinking that there was no traffic on the road, the drivers raced to the limit, occupying the only two lanes of the road.

Mann’s motorcycle is in the front, and the rider at the back has already glimpsed a taxi coming in the opposite direction, so he rushes to the side. But the boy didn’t pay attention and rode straight toward the car; the passenger on the back, wearing a helmet, tapped Mann on the shoulder, asking him to pay attention to the front. The boy remained unresponsive.

There was a loud bang! The front wheels of the locomotive hit the left side of the vehicle’s bumper, the person who flew out instead of sitting behind, is the driver A Man! He collided with the hood of the car, rolled on top of the front glass, fell to the ground, and the head was not protected, the spot blood flowed all over the face!

The man in the back seat was lucky – just a minor scratch, nothing serious. A miracle.

“What’s going on? This is a weird car accident! Two taxis were right in front of us, and Wen turned a blind eye?” Xiaoya was puzzled.

Another boy said nervously, “Could it be the so-called ‘ghost wall’? Something so unclean that he couldn’t see the car in front of him?”

“Don’t talk nonsense, okay? It was the middle of the day…” The girl had goosebumps, “How could it be possible?”

His ravenous mouth was immediately and painfully ’rounded up’ by the family.

She looked back at Man and smoothed his slightly disheveled hair, ‘You must pull through, I will support you to the end…’

A white angel pushed the boy who had finished his haircut into the operating room. After seven and a half long hours of waiting, Xiaoya’s tiredness was etched on her pretty cheeks; while fear and hope made her fight back the sandman again and again. She wanted to see Wen safely pushed out of the operating room.

The ‘In Surgery’ light above the entrance to the operating room goes out, the door opens, and the sleeping boy, his head wrapped in heavy gauze, is slowly moved by the nurse. He was finally away from the ghostly gate.

The physician removed the mask, and Arvin’s parents, Sia and others then swarmed over him.

“What’s the status? Did you get all the blood out of Man’s brain?”

“No problem! The surgery was quite successful, your son should not be in any serious trouble, he will stay in the intensive care ward for two days for observation before being transferred to the general ward. Please don’t worry.”

The young woman dripped tears of joy, unable to stop them. She smiled with relief…

Xiaoya with no regrets to stay in the city hospital to accompany him for eleven full days, no matter living, dining, toileting and other trivial matters are taken care of in every possible way, more competent than professional nurses. Although Wen seldom spoke, a few faint ‘thank you’, still let the girl feel a few words of affection.

But even as the boy leaned closer to her, his heart still seemed elusive.

After Wen was discharged from the hospital, his words and actions began to change one hundred and eighty degrees. Not only did he not dare to ride a fast bike anymore, but he also became more cautious about matters related to life. In other words, he became ‘afraid of death’ instead of surviving the disaster.

Boys frequent religious gatherings and are particularly keen on the ‘consistent path’. Not only is he a devout believer, he also tries to get his friends and relatives to join the religion. In particular, he encourages Xiaoya to join him to help her ‘remove her name from hell and register her in heaven’ – the benefits of ‘husband and wife’ practicing together are numerous.

The young girl’s family practiced Taoism, the concept does not quite accept the teachings of the ‘consistent way’, she tried to persuade Ah Wen not to be too obsessed, the boy was always stubborn. The two of them argued so much that Xiaoya almost didn’t recognize the Man of the time.

The boy’s family company is struggling, and he takes his parents’ advice to go out and look for work.

The first job will be introduced by a friend into a direct selling enterprises, as an agent of daily necessities, cosmetics, is poking at expanding the scale of business.

Wen puts his heart and money into the direct sales business and gradually neglects Xiaoya, but she waits for him and remembers him behind his back. He rose through the ranks so quickly that he became a manager within a year, the youngest in Asia in the multinational organization.

Since you are in business, it is inevitable that you will socialize. However, the originally simple boy began to go out with his boss in and out of the sex world, drinking, hugging, and giving off all kinds of undesirable smells and habits. Despite repeated advice from Ya, Man ignores them and continues to do what he wants, following the company’s lead.

“A man who is not a womanizer is not a man!” Boys often put this phrase on their lips, “I can be a womanizer, but I won’t allow my girlfriend to attract butterflies outside!”

It was in his nature to be a flirt and a player, wasn’t it? Xiaoya always thought he was ‘spoiled’ – in fact, she was just making up excuses to comfort herself.

Wen’s handsome appearance brings him a lot of women’s love. There are several female coworkers in the company who are very interested in him, and one of them is a ‘nymphomaniac’ type of girl, Qianfen, who is in hot pursuit of him.

That girl has actively pursued many men who are not in bad condition, and her breakups and breakups have been quite unfavorable.

A Man ate that, anyway, Xiaoya is not often accompanied by the body, Qianfen will be a temporary replacement. Soon after, the two had an intimate relationship, and the man tasted the sweetness. Perhaps the woman’s love skill is quite clever, knowing each other in just three months, actually made Ah Wen ‘love’ her.

His female companions in and out of the company often change, coworkers see more and more, so they do not say anything.

People know he’s still a man with a ‘real girlfriend’.

One day, after eleven o’clock, he invited Xiaoya to have lunch with him at the company during his break. As soon as the girl stepped out of the elevator, she bumped into Wen and Qianfen flirting intimately at the reception counter, but Xiaoya pretended not to see them. She pretended not to see them, but the girl left in a hurry when she realized that Wen’s girlfriend had arrived.

At this time, the counter switchboard lady Ah Fong glimpsed Xiaoya’s face is very ugly, and with the girl friendship (former classmates), encountered such an angry scene naturally can not help but to speak.

“Hey! Aven! Xiaoya’s people are here, and you’re still being so affectionate with another girl? That Qianfen woman isn’t any good, what you did is really too much!”

The boy immediately yelled, “Who says Qianfen is bad? You nosy bitch!” He took Xiaoya’s hand and walked towards the office door.

Mann was holding a young girl and introducing his girlfriend to his colleagues. One of the new business representatives asked in a puzzled manner, “Strange? Wen, she is different from the one you brought to the company last time! This one is prettier!”

The smiling General Manager on his right immediately warned him with his eyes to ‘shut up’ immediately. When the young lady heard this, she said nothing, but her heart continued to sink…

“Wen, I remembered that I still have things to do, so I won’t accompany you for dinner!” Xiaoya flung her head back and left, leaving behind the ‘flirtatious man’ who was in a hurry to clean up the mess at the back of the room. …

On Saturday night of that week, the teenager went to her boyfriend’s house again to ‘help’ with the meal. After the meal, she, Man, and his brother were watching an eight o’clock romantic drama.

The plot reached a breaking point when the hero was exposed by his girlfriend as a double-crosser. Ya had a thought: Why don’t we…?

“That man on TV is a nasty piece of work, tricking the heroine who loves him.

Ah Wen, you wouldn’t be like him and have a new love interest, would you?” As she finished her sentence, her eyes slanted and she peeked at his reaction with the rest of her eyes.

The boy stammered for a while, first shaking his head timidly, and then… actually nodding his head again!

Chapter 1, love birdcage (end) – no end of the six-year love long run Xiaoya see Ah Wen so ‘dishonest’, the inner angry very want to vent, and forced to ask: “Is it that girl named Qianfen?” The serial was thrown to the side.

The boy was indifferent: “I am in love with her, yes. Now that I’ve frankly admitted it, there’s no reason for you to sulk. And forgive me.”

What kind of rules are these? Instead of reviewing your own faults, you want the girl to forget her past grudges, not to be jealous, and not to lose her temper?

What did Man see Ya as? A porcelain cup to go with his teapot?

The girl couldn’t stand his excuses any more: “Hmph! Yes? If I had another good boyfriend and asked you to nod your head in agreement, would you do it?”

“Of course I won’t!” The boy’s tone was utterly brutal, “You belong to me alone!

Besides, I’m a man, not like you! It’s my freedom to go around occasionally and fall in love with whoever I want, you have no right to interfere!”

She clenched her palms in anger-Arwen had gone too far this time! Xiaoya turned away, unwilling to say any more. His brother realized that the situation was not right and hid in his room to avoid a war. In the living room, a couple of angry people are facing each other, building a thick, invisible wall in the middle.

The boy thought that the girl’s silence was a concession, and continued his attack: “I hope you will accept her. Qianfen declared that she did not care about the title – the first wife will be your wife, she is willing to be a minor, not to compete with you for favor.

“Speak brightly and proudly.

Xiaoya hissed and yelled, “Man! Stop daydreaming! I’d rather break up with you than share you with her!” She screwed up her backpack, stood up and headed for the door.

“You calm down! Xiaoya!” The boy rushed over and blocked her way, “Have some guts, will you? I’m seriously talking about our future!” He pulled her wrist.

“You ~let go~!” The girl shook off his hand with all her might, “I’m sorry, but if you insist on being with that woman, there’s no future between us! My love for you can’t be divided, or have any impurities!”

As soon as the young girl finished speaking, she brushed past the dumbfounded Arwen. She opened the door and, with a fling, left the selfish man neatly behind.

When she got home, Xiaoya received a call that he had asked someone to dial on his behalf. She just raised the microphone high and hung it up heavily, giving him no mercy at all.

The boy knew that the girl was angry and didn’t want to see him at all. He uses all sorts of tactics – calling her on the phone, waiting for her at her house, rain or shine.

Xiaoya ate the weight of iron heart, ignore is to ignore. The cold war lasted for more than a week.

The father repeatedly advised his daughter and the boy to stop dating, so as to save the exhaustion and aggravation. Xiaoya could never make up her mind.

She is torn between the dilemma of breaking up with Man or getting back together, and when she is sad and upset, the girl has to look for her former best friend to come up with an idea.

Ah Kuen was the first one to come to mind – she is the girl’s most trusted friend. So, the young girl asks Juan and three other friends from her school to hold a seminar at the ‘Old Captain’ bubble tea store in Ximending.

“Hey! Ya, you’re not mistaken, are you? How come Man is so cheeky? He calls himself Takuya Kimura, or Tetsuya Komuro? Why should you be his first wife?” Ajuan scolded the boys profusely.

The girl, Light, sighed, “You know his personality. Do you think I should break up with him?”

Xiao-ting said: “What? Like that kind of man, you can never admit defeat! Otherwise, let’s do it this way – snatch Mann back from your rival, and then dump him in style!”

As soon as Xiao-ting she suggested it, Kuen and Xiao Mei all voted in favor of it. The girls held their chins and reported shaking their heads with a smile. …

Xiaoya is unconvinced and confident that she will never lose out to Qianfen, but the boy’s behavior makes her hesitate – is it worth giving him another chance?

The girl’s heart slowly softened as she thought back on the five years or so that Arwen had been pretty good.

‘What should I do…?’ People in confusion ask this.

The next morning, when the doorbell rings at Xiaoya’s house, the boy takes the ultimate action – he comes straight to the door to make his final ‘fight’.

The girl’s family happened to be out and she was left alone to watch the house. Arwen saw that it was a good time, “Ya, please open the door and let me in so I can explain things to you properly.”

“Okay.” The young girl didn’t refuse the excuse, so she let him in to hear exactly what he wanted to say.

The boy faced Xiaoya and said with a serious expression: “What I said to you last time, it’s okay if you don’t want to accept it. However, I do not want to break up, I do not want to lose you. That’s not fair.”

She sneered, “What’s not fair? Is it fair to me when you treat me like that?”

Wen suddenly drew out the Rambo knife he was carrying, pointing the sharp tip of the knife at his chest: “If you really break up with me, I’ll spill my blood right away and die for you!” He was about to stab!

“What are you doing?” Xiao Ya couldn’t care less about the danger made to snatch the sharp blade from his hand, “I promised you that I won’t ‘cut’ with you! Why do you need to do something stupid?”

She also wants to salvage the relationship which is full of holes and he proves the importance of Ya in his heart with ‘life’. Man’s ‘masterstroke’ works.

Xiaoya nodded. Unfortunately, she hadn’t thought about it – threatening her loved one with her life is a kind of blackmail and coercion in the name of love, satisfying her own possessive desires. It’s not love.

Their lives went back to the dreadful cycle of the woman’s jealousy, seeing her beloved with a woman other than her…

Other rivals appear from time to time – Qianfen waits for Man in front of the office on Valentine’s Day, repeatedly shaking Ya’s precarious position as the ‘first girlfriend’.

Quarrels have long been a common occurrence. The girl always sulked at his pretentiousness.

“Ya, listen carefully. I don’t belong exclusively to a certain woman, as long as whoever waits long enough, I’m theirs.”

It seems that Wen treats all women as if they were parking lots with nothing to do. The girl hated the ‘parking lot’ comment – what am I waiting for?

Due to the boy’s flourishing performance, the Taipei head office resolved to send him to Kaohsiung, the southern metropolis, to open up new territories, and upgraded the liaison office in Kaohsiung to a branch office. The complacent Man is so ‘honored’ that he swears to be obedient and obedient to his superiors.

The boy’s family had recently fallen into disrepair. Regardless of his family’s situation, he still insisted on investing large sums of money and time into the establishment of the southern branch. After two or three months, Ah Wen took several cadres south, planning to live in Kaohsiung for a long time, and shifted his center of gravity all the way to that end.

His contact with Ya has diminished since then. The boy’s philandering ways have intensified in the passionate south, where the frequency of female companionship changes as often as the flashing neon lights on the streets.

Unfortunately, the girl had a major accident while traveling with a friend, and she suffered serious injuries – a severe contusion of the brain – and stayed in the hospital for one or two months before recovering. She was hospitalized for a month or two before recovering.

Ya, who has a weak body, has suffered enough.

Wen only sent a few letters of condolence, stating that he was unable to return to Taipei to take care of her because of his heavy workload and asked her to take care of her health. Also blame her how not to go to him? The girl read it and sighed.

The financial burden of the family was already on the shoulders of Xiaoya and her siblings, and the reality of the situation is that she has to work more than one job to take care of her siblings in school. She has to take up several jobs and take care of her younger siblings who are studying; she can no longer afford to care for Man – she believes that she is no longer a good match for him in her current condition. Family comes first.

During this time, another boy came into her heart. That’s another story.

Afterwards, the girl’s headaches increased dramatically and tingled as a result of the accident. She went to a small clinic for treatment. The medication prescribed by the doctor was effective at first, but then the dosage got heavier and heavier. Not surprisingly, Xiaoya realized that she had suddenly gained weight – so much so that she looked like a blown-up balloon! She hurriedly grabbed the bottle of medicine and ran to ask her second sister, who was a nurse.

“Ya, this is the steroid commonly known as the ‘American Elixir’! You can’t eat this stuff indiscriminately! It can cause bad damage to the human body! Look at you! How come your whole body is swollen like this?” Her sister dragged the young girl to get a body checkup immediately.

When the results came out, they scared Xiaoya – ‘abnormal metabolism, kidney water excretion problems’. So she is not fat, but ‘edema’ caused by the medication.

The second sister was really fuming, “Ya! Why don’t you go sue that doctor for improper treatment?”

“I was the one who wanted to eat so much…” the girl dared not raise her voice. She recognized that she had been unlucky. When… Arvin came back after a long time, he saw that Sia’s figure was completely ‘out of shape’, and he felt bad about it, but he was not in a position to ask her to ‘lose weight’. His attitude became even more ambiguous and he flew back to Kaohsiung before long.

A few months later, Ya traveled to Kaohsiung with some friends to take care of business. Since it was her first time in Kaohsiung, she informed the boy to pick them up at the airport. As soon as the girls walked out of the transit hall, they saw Man and a pretty woman standing at the exit waiting for them from afar.

The sensitive girl intuitively felt something was wrong. Who was the woman next to him? Although Man explained that she was his colleague, the man was so close to her… it could never be as simple as he claimed.

The boy’s reception was certainly attentive, but he kept a deliberate distance between him and Xiaoya, with little conversation and even less eye contact. The girl realized that the moment of separation was approaching. She forced a smile on her face so that he wouldn’t see what was on her mind. Behind her back, Xiaoya made up her mind – it was time to make a quick break.

Back in Taipei, she wrote a breakup letter.

‘Man.

This time I finally went to see you in Kaohsiung. And your attitude has obviously changed, becoming quite cold. You are no longer the Man I once loved.

For six years, you’ve brought me more pain than joy. I was threatened by your unsettling, womanizing personality, and I couldn’t handle the excitement of you showing up and having your arms around another woman.

You have been restricting me, but you have been indulging yourself in chasing after sound and color, in climbing the thrill of so-called success, and in treating people as vassals! You keep me in a birdcage, not letting me fly, and for what?

That’s enough. We’ve come this far. There’s no salvaging it. I can’t wait for you to come back into my arms. Let some other woman wait!

Xiaoya.

As soon as the letter was dropped off, Wen quickly wrote back within a few days. The content of the letter was extremely simple – he did not care about Xiaoya’s feelings. He was disappointed with her appearance and health, and to take her out in public would be beneath his current status, and would not be acceptable at all. If you want to split up, you can do so… it’s no big deal!

What a realistic man! Irritated, the girl tore the other’s letter to shreds and spilled it into the air. Her love, a floating piece of colored paper, slowly fell….

Ya changes her phone number, finds a new home for her family, and breaks off her depleted feelings for Wen – just to be a new person. The past is like yesterday’s death.

The physically and mentally exhausted girl sat on the sofa in her new home, surrounded by family and friends who were wishing her well; in the midst of the hilarity and laughter, she was the only one who remembered – what had she learned from all of this? For six years, what Ya had gotten in return was love… a love that was like a birdcage.

Postscript.

Two years later, the girl heard a friend describe Ah Man’s situation: After leaving a client’s residence in Kaohsiung’s Lingya district in the early morning, the man was driving through a pedestrian crossing on Chung Cheng Road when he was hit by a drunk driver in a car that was speeding behind him. As a result, Man’s spine was fractured and the lower half of his body was paralyzed, leaving him disabled for the rest of his life…
