Peer 2

Prologue (1)

This is the little bit at the beginning of the prologue in the game, I don’t know if you like it or not? If not, then even the prologue will be changed (although I really like the worldview of the prologue).

Monday, December 16

‘Bells! Bells!’

‘Gulp, gulp…’

‘Hey, how long are you going to sleep?’

”Umm… Ming, good morning…”

‘Still talking about morning? It’s already dusk!’

”Seeing how dumb you looked in the sixth lesson with Nara-sensei just now, if he denounces you to the Tendo…”

‘Gulp, gulp…’

”Hey! Stand up, Ryunosuke!’

‘Ah spring sleep.’

‘It’s winter!’

The one who woke me up from my sleep with a strong voice was none other than Kawamine, who wore a judo robe at all times and was a great friend of mine during my three years of high school.

‘Everyone’s already gone home from school, are you going to spend the night at school?’

Fixing his eyes, the only person he saw inside the classroom of Year 3B was Amin, which made him realize that it was already 5:30 pm.

If Ah Ming hadn’t woken me up, how long would I have slept? I might have frozen to death in the classroom!

”If I give Nara-sensei a chance to report you to Tendo for sleeping in the middle of class, again, I don’t know what Tendo will say.”

‘Gu… Tendo, remember this well!’

”Hey, don’t be so excited!”

”Ming, join me in burying Tendo behind the gym!”

”Don’t kid me, thanks to him I was able to become the main general of the Judo Department for miles!”

Speaking of Tendo, his full name was Tendo Shinkansen (Ryunosuke: What a strange name…), and he was the gym teacher and life coach in charge at our 88th school. It was a big mistake to let that autocratic monarch be our life director, and for three years I couldn’t get along with him.

”If you were an average student, you would have dropped out a long time ago!”

‘I hate admitting defeat!’

Last week at the morning assembly, that guy caught me on stage in front of the whole school, and he was really ashamed of me. He’s got a grudge against me that’s as deep as the ocean.

”Hey, weren’t you whistling on stage too? Well, he punished you for not being late in the two weeks before the graduation ceremony, or else you’ll have to run with him every morning of this winter vacation. But you’re not so bad, you haven’t been late this week.”

‘Of course, I don’t want to see him for the whole winter vacation, and besides, I have Wei to wake me up every day.’

”Hey, so it’s all thanks to Avi.”

”Foolish, I can get up on time myself! Speaking of which, everyone is so heartless, I can’t believe no one came to wake me up.”

”Not at all, I don’t know how many times Tomomi-san called you after school before you finally went back in a huff, but you still managed to sleep, really!”

‘Then why did you stay?’

”Hey, if it wasn’t for Wei who told me to wake you up after five o’clock, I wouldn’t have dragged my tired body to wake you up after the extracurricular activities were over, you really have to thank this good classmate of mine.”

”A-Ming, why are you calling A-Wei, A-Wei so affectionately?”

”I, I, I don’t have any other intentions. It’s just that Wei cares about you and is afraid that you’ll catch a cold.”

”Hmph, I told him long ago to ignore me.”

‘Zvi is only that gentle with you, but you only offer tenderness to other girls… Is there really nothing between you? You live under the same roof…”

”Hey, I’ll really get angry if you say such things again!”

‘Oh, no way, if we don’t go we’ll miss the seven o’clock TV program!’

With that, the standard TV fan left in a huff. Of course, there was no reason to stay at school, so I left immediately. Unfortunately, however, I ran into that awful Tendo in front of the school. As usual, Tendo made fun of me, but I didn’t feel like fighting, so I let him go and went home.

My family runs an eating tea store, and the name of the store is ‘Rest’. However, it’s not my parents who run the store now.

As soon as he returns home, he meets Wei in the living room.

‘It’s late! It’s already half past six!

‘Hmph! You’re so nosy!’

‘What’s wrong? Brother.’

‘I’m not your brother!’

‘I know, but…’

”And yeah, didn’t I say you don’t have to mind my business at school? Otherwise that guy Armin will say some weird talk again.”

”But if you sleep like this, you’ll catch a cold.”

”Haven’t I told you many times? We’re in a situation where it’s easy for people to misunderstand us.”

‘┅┅’

”Alas, I already guessed this would happen when you transferred to the 88th Academy. Why don’t you be a good boy and go to an all-girls middle school?”

‘But…’

‘What were the conditions we set when you wanted to transfer to the Eighty-Eight Academy you say again.’

”… Even if you meet in the corridor you can’t greet each other.”

”Ugh, but I can’t believe you’ve been assigned to my class, I really don’t know how the guy who made up the class works.”

‘┅┅’

”You know what? Ever since you transferred to the Eighty-Eight Academy, my success rate in picking up girls has dropped dramatically!”

”Huh, Ryunosuke, you’re back late.”

Mrs. Misako just happened to come out of the kitchen.

‘You’re so excited, what happened with Wei?’

‘No… nothing.’

When I  looked back, Avi had already returned to her room playfully.

Mrs. Misako Narisawa is the person who runs the tea store for my father, and she is also Vivian’s mother. My family environment is really complicated. Misako, Zai and I are not related at all, but I have lived with them for ten years.

But after ten years, Mrs. Misako still looks so young, I really don’t know 2 what it is.

”I heard you had another fight with Mr. Tendo, didn’t you?”

‘Yay? Did Ave tell you that?’

‘I was the one who went to ask her. Avi’s a bit weird too, took my alarm clock for some reason.’

‘An alarm clock?’

‘Yeah, about a week ago, I think, she started having two alarm clocks at the end of her bed.’

”Wasn’t that when I made the bet with Tendo?”

‘She said something about how she’d be responsible if she made you late, and that she’d get up at seven o’clock every morning and wake you up on time.’

I don’t know anything about this.

”Ryunosuke, I’m so sorry!”

‘What’s wrong?’

”I was the one who made Vai transfer to the 88th Academy, and I can’t believe she was even assigned to your class… she’s too willful.”

‘… Y…’

”Although Awe is the same year as you, she has always choked you as if you were her brother.”

‘That I also understand…’

After dinner, I went to my room. It was all thanks to Mrs. Misako that my room was so tidy. The window of my room was right in front of my classmate Tomomi’s house. To put it bluntly, the window was less than two meters in front of Tomomi’s room. However, Tomomi always keeps the curtains closed, so I can’t see what’s going on in the room.

Prologue (2)

That said, I appreciate all the offers, and I’ve decided to write a unit for each female character. I’m still going to type out the prologue, because I want you all to understand the worldview of the same “Cascade 2”, when you read the prologue you’ll be fascinated by its worldview, and that’s what makes it so fascinating.

My father is a world-famous archaeologist, and it’s not surprising that he doesn’t come home for months if he finds new ruins. I don’t know where he is now. The last time I saw him was this summer.

My mom died when I was very young, so I don’t remember much about her. I can only remember what she looked like from photos now. This tea store was originally owned by my mom, but I guess she opened it because she was bored because my dad was always away. Did dad realize this or not?

I remember Mrs. Misako and Wei moved in shortly after my mother died. I was eight years old at the time. Mrs. Misako was a friend of a friend of my father’s from his college days, and contrary to my father, her husband died in an accident shortly after Avi was born. My father’s action at that time was really amazing. Through the introduction of his friend, he invited Mrs. Misako to manage our tea store. And that’s how my life with Mrs. Misako and Kazuya began. I guess my father thought it would be better for me to be taken care of by Mrs. Misako than to be dropped off at a daycare center. Or was it because Dad had a crush on Mrs. Misako?

Anyway, Mrs. Misako has kept her promise to take care of my house and run the tea store all by herself. It is because of Mrs. Misako that our tea store is still open today.

It’s amazing to think about it now. Wasn’t it hard when Vivian and I were kids? There was no blood relationship, and no intention to remarry my dad – it was a bit of an incredible relationship.

Zvi should be in her room at this time too, right?

It was in middle school that I began to realize that I was in a heterosexual relationship with Avi. My friends who knew that Zoe lived with me used to make fun of me, saying that I slept with her every night, which was really annoying. The first time I met Avi was when Misako moved in, of course. At that time, the four of us took a photo together, and it should still be on the counter, so here it is. At that time, Avi was still hiding behind Misako. This is the only picture of the four of us together.

Well… did I go too far just now? Dad used to say, ‘It’s okay to talk about everything, or not to study, but you must learn to understand the pain in other people’s hearts. Vivian is probably crying. I should go and see her… But she’s not like she used to be. She won’t let me into her room…

‘Knock knock.’

Just as I was wondering if I should check on Zwei, Zwei actually came to me of her own accord.

Ave: ”I’m really sorry about today, Niinii.”

I can’t believe she apologized to me.

Avi: ‘I’ll pay attention to that in the future.’

Ryunosuke: ‘Uh…’

Avi: ”Then I’m going to bed, good night, brother.”

Ryunosuke: ‘Y… Avi…’

Avi: “Huh?

Ryunosuke: ‘Did… did I go too far in what I said just now?’

Avi: ”No, it’s my own fault. Well then, good night.”

With that, Wei then left my room. It’s like this every time. Every time, it’s always the sister who comes to apologize to me first. Thinking deeper, Avi is actually a girl who gets hurt easily.

Looking at the clock, it was only 7:30 a.m. There was no reason to go to bed so early, so I went down to the living room to help Mrs. Misako. There was no sign of Mrs. Misako in the living room. She wakes up at 7:00 a.m. every morning to do laundry, then prepares breakfast for me and Avi, then prepares for the opening of the store, takes care of the tea store from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and then cleans up after the store closes. Then I have to go grocery shopping for dinner. I’m afraid I’m so tired now that I’ve gone to bed…

Misako: ‘Ryunosuke?’

Ryunosuke: “Oh!

Mrs. Misako was still up. The living room smelled of the coffee and rice she had just eaten for dinner.

In front of me was Misako, who looked young no matter how I looked at her. By the way, I don’t know Mrs. Misako’s actual age. People who don’t know her probably think she’s still single.

Misako: ”Hate it, why are you looking at me all the time?”

Ryunosuke: ‘Ah, no… nothing.’

Misako: ”By the way, is she asleep, Avi?”

Ryunosuke: ‘Maybe…’

Misako: ‘Recently, that silly child has been going to bed early… Have you made up with her?

Ryunosuke: ‘I didn’t argue with her… did she come out just now?’

Misako: ‘Only when I go to take a bath. What’s wrong?’

Ryunosuke: ‘No, it’s just that I seemed to have gone a bit too far just now…’

Misako: ‘There’s no need to keep it in mind, that kid is strong.’

Ryunosuke: ‘But… she just came to my room to apologize…’

Misako: ”Hehehe, isn’t that great?”

Ryunosuke: ‘Mrs. Misako, do you mind if I do this to Avi?’

Misako: ‘Why?’

Ryunosuke: ‘Because Zvi is your own daughter…’

Misako: ”Wait, Ryunosuke, even though I don’t have any blood relationship with you, I treat Ave and you equally. You don’t need to keep that in mind, go to bed early.”

Mrs. Misako had always been so gentle with me, but in middle school I had rebelled against her… Did Mrs. Misako intend to maintain this live-in relationship?

After taking a shower, I went back to my room where Avi used to come in from time to time when I was a kid. Nowadays, Avi seldom came into my room, and Avi wouldn’t let me go into her room either. In fact, in the eyes of my male classmates around me, Avi was quite cute, especially Amin, who was known to like Avi, and there were quite a lot of other boys who liked Avi too. I don’t know if she’s not interested in boys of her age, but she doesn’t seem to have a good boyfriend.

If she found a boyfriend, no one would look at us weirdly… But then, it might turn out that Avi’s boyfriend was jealous of me.

I look at the window neighboring Tomomi’s room, there’s still light on the opposite side, so it looks like Tomomi is still studying.

Tomomi is not only my classmate, but also my childhood friend. I heard that Tomomi’s father was the president of a medical equipment manufacturing company. But she was completely different from me. She was the head of the committee, loved books and flowers, and was a stubborn girl who loved to cry.

When I was little, I could see Tomomi’s room whenever the light was on. Then, somehow, the light-impermeable curtains were replaced. Did she hate me, Tomomi?

It’s not really that annoying to me, it’s just that the few times I’ve tried it, I’ve bumped heads with her when well pulling back the curtains.

I didn’t mean to peek into her room. It was just always the wrong time. Tomomi always went to bed later than me, but I was only there for the night, while Tomomi was there to read.

That night, that guy Amin called in the middle of the night for a TV program and said something about TV programs being the source of information or something like that, I really can’t stand that guy.
